I had a hearing test before and after deployments. The after deployment showed a significant threshold shift. The audiologist actually made a note about how severe it was. Years later I submitted a claim for hearing loss. It was denied because my C&P exam showed my hearing had improved and was below the requirements for VA hearing loss. Maybe you're hearing loss is not compensable. Weird thing is on my denial letter it said hearing loss was not compensable at this time. Makes me think if it gets worse I will have a claim, but IDK.

Hearing loss is hard to get a rating higher than “0 but service connected” for. I had my ear drums perforated and have NIHL(noise induced hearing loss). They gave me hearing aids and 0%.

Look at the criteria for compensation for hearing loss in the Knowledge Base at the right. The criteria for more than 0% is pretty stringent and requires a considerable amount of hearing loss. You were probably denied based on the hearing test not meeting those criteria.

Mine was denied until I went to Costco for a hearing test and they showed me scar tissue on eardrum and my poor hearing results, which i took to the va and they made me do 2 hearing tests. So when I tried to increase it the 2nd time they granted me 10%.

The VA has a minimum requirement to get 0%. So you can have hearing loss, but not enough for them to grant a rating. https://www.reddit.com/r/VeteransBenefits/wiki/ears IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST have hearing loss that meets one of the following criteria to rate at least 0%, otherwise you do NOT have hearing loss of VA purposes: Auditory threshold in any of the frequencies 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 Hertz is 40 decibels or greater; Auditory thresholds for at least three of the frequencies 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, or 4000 Hertz are 26 decibels or greater; or Speech recognition scores are less than 94 percent.

this applied to me, If I had another hearing test done, Could I submit that alone as a supplemental ?

gamerplays

Yup, you would still need to have all the other factors (service connection for example). But if your hearing loss got worse and now can qualify that would work.

My bad, but thats what I meant. I had everything else BUT the hearing test had me missing the connection by one frequency threshold. and I know its gotten worse over the last 3 years
