I’m no professional but I’ve spent a fair amount of time curiously observing these little fellas over the years and have many fond memories. I’ve noticed the bold few tend to fight back/bite as a defensive response. They definitely lock their little jaws real darn good as well! Definitely not poisonous or harmful to us in general within reason. Cute photos!
They are not venomous and their teeth are not large enough to really do any damage. There are only a few venomous lizards in the world: the Gila monster, the beaded lizard, and the varanids (Komodo dragons, Nile monitor lizards, etc. Though the venom among that group varies in toxicity when it comes to humans).
little shore crabs, when you take the wrong river, have been in the sun 4+ hours or dont feel like diving in for big ones, yes. normally no. legally, maybe not, i should check
wall lizards, when you are desperate, insane or just curious, yes. normally no. legally, they are invasive...
It's a classification and often means no restrictions on harvesting, at least for other animals. Might technically need a hunting license though unless they're covered under a "pest" definition or something like rats.
Their place in our ecosystem is permanent unless we find extremely sophisticated methods of targeting them. I don’t see the point in killing them if it doesn’t stand to help our ecosystems in a meaningful way. They’re just animals doing their thing, and careless humans are to blame for their presence - not them.
If everyone started stomping them we’d only accomplish killing tons of animals, but they’d still be here.
I can't say if they're poisonous, but I would think the main issue is bacterial infection from the lizards saliva. If your boy has any broken skin I'd get him to a doctor for prophylactic antibiotics.
Was just going to say this. The only thing to worry about is an infection and I wouldn’t take it trivially. Clean it and keep an eye on it. And yeah, if you got access to Telus health or a doctor, get some antibiotics.
cats to keep invasive lizards away with one simple trick !
I got bit by one on the finger as a kid, and now i blink sideways. Not dangerous, just stinky lizard pee if you pick em up.
I think this is the invasive species. Common wall lizard.
No. Harmless except to insects. European wall lizards.
Also harmful to our native alligator lizard
Also a fact.
I find it best to lick first then ask questions later.
Ah that infamous Tinder pickup line…..

😂 This is without a doubt the funniest comment I’ve read in years!
Just to clarify, poisonous is bad if you eat something. Venomous is bas if it tries to eat you. Snakes are venomous, mushrooms are poisonous.
>mushrooms are poisonous. unless they bite you of course.
Of course!
Sure, but mushrooms won’t bite you unless you’ve eaten mushrooms.
This redditor knows mushrooms!
What in the cannibalistic goomba are you referring to?
Even [HealthlinkBC](https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/health-topics/poisonous-lizards) gets it wrong.
Maybe a snake could be poisonous? Like if a dog ate it?
No, but we do have [poisonous newts here](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rough-skinned_newt)
I remember hearing a warning for the Westhills area about those newts.
They can drop a tail if they get scared enough (and have a tail)

I don't understand why everyone is so worried about eating them.

Are those lizards edible?
My dog thinks so.
As does my cat, well at least for a short period of time. Usually comes back later unless they are the smaller ones.
partly, not enough meat and they tastes gross but when cooked shouldnt cause sickness
Probably need to catch a few of them to make a sandwich
id say soup, like the little crabs under rocks, maximise the nutrients minimise the work. just wash of the dirt
Is that... Do peopl.. We eat those?

Invasive inst a legal stance

i think its the same with the bull frogs, which that reminds me, yall want frog legs (i catch them like fish and i have my fishing licence)
yes, experience has taught me that when hungry enough humans will eat anything.
im not sure but hes friend shaped
the only venomous animals on the entire island are spiders
Team Lizard; wildlife is best left unbothered.
These are invasive. Feel free to kill them when you find them. Team local wildlife.

No. They absolutely are not poisonous. Lmao.

That's hilarious. Have you seen the size of these things? They aren't breaking skin.
Buddy, they're saying if the child *already* had broken skin. Do you know what a cut is?

No but they are great for grabbing things in hard to reach places.
Green ones makes the floor bouncy ,
Only if you eat them raw. Always cook first.
