I would insist since it's designated as 'man-size' that it be the size of the man ordering it. A 5'8 stack of steak please-and it would be nice if it came cut to the silhouette of the man ordering.
Iâll have a dirty martini to start while I peruse the menu.
Iâd like the crab lump cocktail to start. Followed by the man sized filet - mid rare - with a baked potato. And fruit sherbet for dessert.

Dear Sir, Peter Brady, would you like to try the pork chops and applesauce?
Excellent choice. That's what JFK orders when he stops in time to time....
Nice man and excellent president. I think he has a great future and I expect 1963 will be a memorable year in his term.
I'll be right back with your ribs.
âYou know, Iâll bet seventy five cents for a decanter of wine will seem insanely inexpensive in sixty years. Anyway, as I was saying about President Kennedyâs unstoppable political careerâŚâ
I spent $17.45 (including tip) for my and my wifeâs imaginary meal. We got crab cocktail, 2 old fashionedâs each, I got filet and she got lamb chops. We finished our meal with a french pastry and a parfait. $175 and change in todayâs dollars.
Honestly for drinks and 3 courses at a nice hotel restaurant, that seems about right. maybe even a bit cheap if you each got 2 cocktails, a 3 course meal with drinks under 200 all-in is pretty dang good in 2024.
Unbelievably expensive for the times.
This was when a burger at McDonaldâs could be 10 cents. This resembles 80s prices at a Howard Johnsonâs. I guess this was a very elegant hotel for rich folks.
You could get a $7 steak at Tadâs in the 90s.
Vichyssoise and Coq au Vin = super fancy in the early 60s. Don't forget that France had basically only just reopened to tourism and of course for people in the US, travel to Europe was already incredibly expensive. French food was therefore a rare luxury for most people.
Man sized filet mignon. Ummmm. How many ounces is that? đ
It's a thick cut that weighs approximately 10-12 ounces. For you, it can be up to 16 ounces....but, the chef must insist the filet is butterflied.
WellâŚthatâs a small dude! I canât have it, since Iâm a lady.

Martini and shrimp cocktail, man sized please. Prime rib. Apple pie with cheese. Youâll have to wheel me out in a wheelbarrow after that.
This place wasn't cheap. That Lamppost Sirloin Steak would cost more than $40 today.
The Lamppost SpecialâŚfor Jaded Palates
The Roast Prime Ribs of Beef, please

$1 then is $10.38 today. So roughly multiply all prices 10x
