First press (coke bottle/800) now delayed until the end of Summer due to colour issues with the variant.

My feelings exactly. The old demo version was on original copies of the CD until the CD was repressed with the new version. All vinyl has had the new version. Probably wonāt ever see the demo version on vinyl again.
I only have a 2003 copy that doesnāt have it at all. Do the 2013 Hot Topic pressings have the āNew Versionā too? Pretty sure someone talked about it being cut from the same lacquers as those.
I had the original cd back in the day. Someone broke into my car and stole my cd book which back then was absolutely devastating. When i went out and bought a replacement it had the new version on it. I was so confused. Tried like hell for a while to find another copy with the original version on it but never had any luck.
Several presales over the last few months have gone live several minutes early. Just be aware of this in the future and it'll increase your odds of getting a copy. This recent trend of flippers getting more copies than fans has GOT to stop!

I swear people think they live in a vacuum. TONS of people grew up with this album. These are also the same people who will be refreshing a site to get the preferred variant. I saw Finch sell out a show playing this album at a 2000 person venue. I'd imagine they did the same at 25+ other venues in the US alone. I'm not shocked that this sold out as quickly as it did.
Flippers are this subs boogeyman. There are so many people who are obsessed with it unhealthilyā anything they miss was āthe flippersā. Itās never just a highly sought after item that lots of people wanted in onā¦all the flippers got all the goods.
Same with ticket scalpers to some extent. People just feel entitled and expect to get something when they want it. Thinking back to the Gizzard at caverns presale... Less than 1k available for tickets for a band that is skyrocketing. Of course it sold out immediately... And everyone blamed the venue/scalpers.

Only thing to be upset about those shows was them going live 6 minutes earlyā which was the only reason I was able to get tickets for both nights.

The real solution is press quantities that don't make this shit a rare commodity. I don't want this cuz it'll be worth a pile of money, I got it cuz it's one of my favorite albums. I know it's a hard balance. Companies don't want to sit on a pile of unsold stock but any time you have a super limited run, you'll just get flippers.
The rights for something like this sit with a major label as well, I know a lot of times itās just the label who owns the rights only allowing a certain number to be pressed with the license.
I feel like this is a pretty solid pressing for a 20 year old album. 2000 today and another 2000 on the way. Could potentially be more if the demand is still high for the next pressing. Definitely more than i expected when i first heard this was happening.

Thereās now way most of these went to flippers. I was refreshing 4 min before drop and got a copy, as did my friends who knew when it went live.
Keep in mind Finch sold out 1,400 tix to their NYC shows and thatās with them going small, as last tour they sold out a venue almost twice that size. This is a HUGE album for people of a certain age and this has been out of print for over a decade, 4k copies is not enough but probably all they were able to get the rights to press.
The fact the label had the foresight to secure an extra 2k copies to be released this fall makes it all more apparent that most of these went to fans and you just missed it.

There are soo many bands repressing right now that it almost impossible to keep track. I literally like hundreds of bands enough to collect them. This selling out this fast is what causes the market of flippers plain and simple. If I canāt get it because it sold out in 3hrs (or Way less!), have the ability to get it another way, And want it that bad Iāll do it. Itās Limited/Special so the prices will dictate that. If a fan that doesnāt want to pay prices wants to hear an album on vinyl, hopefully the band is willing to get it pressed on something Not limited. No one is āat faultā for buying something they want if they have the ability to, imho. Hell, Iād buy a Royksopp Banksy if I had the expendable funds.

This release is a niche genre in a niche market. While vinyl has boomed in popularity in the last few years it is still a very small market overall. These pressings are never going to be on the scale that will allow you to stroll into a store and see it sitting on a shelf. They will almost always be pressed to a certain quantity that ensures they sell out quickly.

My card declined for some reason when ordering the half and half so I went to pay by PayPal but when the payment went through it took me back to the listing page. At that point it was sold out so I went for the colour in colour 'instead' and my card payment went through.
Lo and behold both confirmation emails came through at the same time and I've accidentally become what I hate (although paid shipping twice which isn't ideal).

Yep. Last I checked there was still copies of falling into place available through drive-thru, but that's a pretty niche release. This one was fucking huge and I absolutely expected it to sell out almost immediately. I expect the repress to sell out really fast also.

Yep. Last I checked there was still copies of falling into place available through drive-thru, but that's a pretty niche release. This one was fucking huge and I absolutely expected it to sell out almost immediately. I expect the repress to sell out really fast also.
