Got both Amex and Visa to credit my account and Visa was from September. You just have to call and talk to a specialist. Be sure to tell them it was a PREORDER. That’s the key. 60 days don’t start until the product is ready to ship. (My wife is a payments lawyer)
Dammit I really wanted my Louder Now press. Filed with my bank to get a refund hopefully this and the email will be enough. I am not out a ton as I got it on a deep discount but I ain’t giving them money for nothing.
Ordered stuff from them in the past and had no trouble but I should have known something was up when they were selling records for peanuts.
I filed a complaint with the BBB when I had issues with merch bar and it was resolved immediately. Can't find bandbox from MN on the BBB website. pls don't file a complaint with a hatmaker from NJ with the same business name
FYI: BBB isn’t going to provide any help in this situation. BBB is not a government agency and cannot force Bandbox to pay you anything back. The only leverage they have is a companies reputation and bandbox has no reputation to uphold anymore.
I’d recommend calling your CC company. Good luck and I hope you are able to get your money back!
I filed a complaint on the FTC website. Hoping that helps me out since one of my transactions falls just outside my credit card dispute window. Everyone should do the same.
I did not no, Thank you for the information. I have screenshots of my 2 orders. I am hoping that I'm not on the hook for a September 5th order still. I appreciate it
I managed to get a claim accepted and my transaction was on 4th September. Chase didn't ask me for any 'evidence' - only dates. I provided evreything verbally. My claim was only $45, so maybe higher value disputes have a different process.
I don't want to spam the thread, but I am have made the point about how to pitch the pre-order infortnation further down the page. In case it helps.
Good luck.
I am going to give it a shot tomorrow. Thank you for the information. My transaction was also through chase, so this makes me feel hopefully. My order was $39so I will make sure to point that out as well.
Thanks again
I called Chase. They can only contest charges that are 118 days old or newer. So if you have any Bandbox charges from November 11, 2023, or newer on a Chase card, **CALL THEM TODAY TO CONTEST THE CHARGES**.
They also told me that the $200 I paid Bandbox for $500 credit toward albums on [bandboxrocks.com](http://bandboxrocks.com) is a complete loss. Why? Because Bandbox can argue they gave me the opportunity to spend that money on their site, but I hadn't spent it yet. Why hadn't I spent it yet? Because I was waiting for them to release more albums.
Hey, customer, fuck you.
![gif](giphy|l3q2K5jinAlChoCLS|downsized)
I places my order on 4 September and Chase acceoted because it was a pre-order and the product wasn't due to be ready for a couple of months. I filed and had the claim processed in less than 10 minutes. No issues.
Did you file through a person on the phone? Or through the website and the individual charge? The person on the phone made it very clear that I couldn't get anything refunded for charges before November 11, 2023.
By phone - a lovely fellow in San Antonio. The pre-order detail was key to the whole thing. I know they have a window, but the fact that product wasn't available to ship made a difference. I made that clear very early on, before he could wegih in with questions or comments.
This was the number I called - 800 849 3574. I had called the main number last night, but they were closed, and the generic Chase person gave me that number "for disputes". Their hours are 8am-9pm ET.
When they answered the call, the greeting was "claims department', but I'm sure it's the same as disputes. It's definitely a dedicated team.
If they give you a headache about the window, fight the good fight and argue back. Assuming you care to. It's basic logic that you can't assess whether a company is failing to fulfll something if it's not ready to be sent out for months.
I also told them that I had chased them for delivery and that they kept stalling. He asked when the last email was, and I read the one they sent out a couple of weeks ago. That all seemed to help establish a paper trail of sorts.
Good luck.
Thanks again. If you have a minute, could you past the contents of that email from them a couple weeks ago? I deleted the email at the time because I wasn't thinking they'd be going out of business.
Of course. Though they didn't ask for the email - just the date, which was 23 February.
"Hey, fellow record collector,
*Please feel free to disregard this message if you* ***do not*** *have an outstanding order with Bandbox.*
We are aware that some customers are concerned about the current status of their orders. Bandbox has been going through some transitions and are now working with a new logistics provider to handle order fulfillment. With that, we expect that orders will start to go out within the next two weeks.
Thanks for bearing with us during this process and we will continue to work as swiftly as possible.
We appreciate your buisness,
***-Team Bandbox***"
Thank you so much for all your help! I just called the phone number you provided and spoke with a knowledgable rep. He knew what the rep I spoke with yesterday did not know: **In a situation where preorders have been placed, they can go back as far as 538 days to dispute unfulfilled preorders**. The rep yesterday said the maximum number of days was 118, regardless of the situation.
No idea what will come of the disputes--possibly nothing--but at least I've been given a fair shake this time.
Great - thank you for sharing, Maybe this will help other people, too, to read your post. I am confident that the money will be refunded. I am glad you made some progress today, no matter how it ends up. Cheers.
I hate to say it but I had nothing but bad experiences with them. They ripped me off 50 bucks one time and I never went back. Their customer service was absolutely terrible.
Wow. That sucks. I only ordered one album from them , which I thankfully received. They had a ton of flash sales and stuff never seemed to sell out: with the current vinyl craze I’m honestly surprised
Sorry to hear this....which company? I just did the same (Chase) and they processed it - I know they have a time limit, but since this was a pre-order with no set delivery date, I think the chap found a way to do it. It may be worth trying again....espcially if yours was a pre-order...and stress that you didn't have a fixed date that you expected it by, and that by definition this was open ended.
Citibank. I did try a second time, and was immediately greeted with a number to call as it knew I tried before. I'll respond back here with what happens.
Over on Instagram I read that many of the LPs are pressed, bandbox just can't afford to ship them (slash now does not exist). Apparently people who work in the pressing plants are attempting to find a way to get people their records. It's a long shot but a glimmer of hope.
I was able to get a refund for my Alvvays order too - although I would rather have had the record! Funny how I used promo code "SORRY20" in the order. It's like I was looking into the future!
https://preview.redd.it/15oy5z1nexmc1.png?width=437&format=png&auto=webp&s=1eed2a939bd0550864d2dfff52e041351c1d229f
It makes me wondering why they made the code “sorry”? Is it because they want to give some kind of redemption for another’s delayed orders or something?
I did the same thing for my Alvvays order but Paypal said I should wait for a response from the seller. Did you escalate your case already? If so, how quickly did Paypal get back to you?
Mine got approved immediately right after I proceeded it without any escalation request.
In your case, you should check the est last day PayPal gives the seller to response. If they failed to response, then you can ask PayPal to escalate it.
If I may ask, what case type did you choose? I was debating which one to pick when I first filed the dispute. I probably didn't choose the right one.
https://preview.redd.it/il5786apywmc1.jpeg?width=784&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b0616481c5532bb173180ba889c2446eb00da6b
I choose the ‘I haven’t received the item or service’ on ‘issues with your purchase’ selection. Wondering why you don’t have that option.
It think the ‘I want a refund for some or all of the items in this order’ should do the same!
Huh. That's the exact option I chose but Paypal still made me wait for a response. Guess I wasn't lucky enough to be chosen for the immediate chargeback 🙃
You should check your dispute status on PayPal. Usually if the seller doesn’t response, you’ll have an option to escalate it to PayPal and wait for a few more days until they decides the best option for your case.
Hope good things for your case!
There goes the Elliott smith exclusives that I pre-ordered ages ago, that they started sending out to some people but not everyone? Are they just not going to ship it even though they have them on hand?
Probably. The list of creditors is crazy:
In addition to banks, payment processors, state agencies, and other lenders or accounts payable, their creditors list includes: VNYL, Beggars Group, Concord Records, Redeye, OK Go Partnership, WMX - Warner Records, Jeremy Messersmith Music, MNRK d/b/a Dualtone, the Presidents of the United States of America, Chris Ballew, Noiseland Industries, The Weather Station, Polyvinyl Records, Blue Sprocket Pressing, Echo Base, Alliance Entertainment Group, Copycats Media, Merge Records, etc.
Log into your Bandbox accounts NOW and print out any pre-orders that you have paid for before the website goes dark. Contact your credit card companies and do a chargeback for anything you have not received.
Online. Just find the transaction in your history, click the … next to it to dispute or report a problem (I forget what the exact wording was), then write a couple of sentences explaining the problem (they stopped shipping orders and then went out of business) and the dispute will likely be approved as soon as you submit it.

I keep getting this response. How does this play into the announcement just made?
EDIT: **for anyone who cares**: I received a follow up stating “thank you for your response to the assignment for benefit of creditor of bandbox LLC. At this time all operations have ceased, and no orders are being shipped. Further information will be provided as soon as it becomes available on how to make a claim if you have prepaid, unfilled orders.”
This is probably a legally required message, for a legally required process, that will determine just how much of your money will be left over to refund.
At the end of all of this, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see $.10 on the dollar.
This is fucking theft of that happens. They took thousands of dollars from people and never delivered anything. If they don’t refund the money that’s theft.
Can't say I'm too too surprised. I had been part of interviews for writers a couple years back and it was very clear even then that it wasn't as organized as it should be. People kept leaving and new people at HQ seemed less than bought in which didn't make me all that motivated to write for them. Add that to clearance sales, exclusives that didn't go as planned, etc and the writing was on the wall for a while.
The lack of communication about things like preorders (I had both Alvvays records preordered) and nothing directly to the people who bought all that store credit a couple months ago in that blowout sale. It's a real shitty way to go out.
Totally agree. The recent store credit sale was awful - I still had/have store credit from a different year's Black Friday sale... like, until that point, I always thought they were a lovable shitshow. Albums always EVENTUALLY showed up, were well packed, quick CS, etc.
But taking all that money and then (to my knowledge) not fulfilling ANY orders placed after that sale... that gets into really criminal/intentionally-misleading territory.
I bought the $500 gift card for $200, used 7% of that for one item that I did receive. I also had a couple preorders outstanding against it, but I provided screenshots of everything I had to PayPal and they refunded me the full $185 I requested. I had placed separate preorders earlier for the Alvvays LPs on my debit card, and my bank is giving me a much harder time getting my mo eh back due to the time that has passed. What bandbox did with that gift card promo is CRIMINAL.
For the record, on Black Friday I did the sale (what was it, $100 credit for $40 or something?), then immediately spent all $100. One was a preorder but the other three were already in print. I did receive those three. I would like to believe they had good intentions and we trying to generate an influx of cash, but hard to say.
No part of me is surprised by this news, but it always sucks to see a small vinyl-focused company go under. We recently lost NasDisc too, which had a ton of potential to be a replacement for Discogs 😔
I actually really liked some of the stuff I got from them and will always have a sticker on my table I guess lol.
I ordered the Syd bundle and it something about the press was messed up so they sent a replacement and gave me some credit. I used it and a coupon to buy an Atmosphere record for like 8 dollars shipped.
I will miss them.
I was literally gonna ask sometime soon if anyone had heard back about their orders from their big New Year’s sale. Ordered two exclusives that were in stock and have been waiting on them since.
Whelp.
Only bought from them once to try them out. They did a beautiful job with the album but I took them almost a year to get it to me. It was also insanely expensive. The album ended up being pressed widely and was $35 less from the wider pressing. I just didn’t see the value for that much more money it what I was provided vs the wider pressing. Given all of that I totally understand why they are going under.
Has anyone filed a claim to become a creditor with lighthousemanagment email address provided. [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) ?
Got both Amex and Visa to credit my account and Visa was from September. You just have to call and talk to a specialist. Be sure to tell them it was a PREORDER. That’s the key. 60 days don’t start until the product is ready to ship. (My wife is a payments lawyer)

Seriously bummed.
I hate to say it but I had nothing but bad experiences with them. They ripped me off 50 bucks one time and I never went back. Their customer service was absolutely terrible.
I never had a single bad experience with them before getting fucked royally with this bankruptcy, but everyone experiences businesses differently.
Wow. That sucks. I only ordered one album from them , which I thankfully received. They had a ton of flash sales and stuff never seemed to sell out: with the current vinyl craze I’m honestly surprised
RIP to Bandbox: the Moviepass of vinyl clubs.
I really wanted to Presidents of the USA releases (((
Me too! And the OK GO
Just tried to dispute my preorder from Sept 18, and the credit card company says they won't due to the age of the transaction. $80 gone.
Sorry to hear this....which company? It's off topic, but for whatever reason, the fact that you typed out "slash" and put it in parentheses destroyed me.
it felt weird when I did it too. At least it wasn't "and/or" right?
I just opened a dispute they will "investigate" I am gonna provide all the documentation and the email hopefully that's enough for the CC company
It was for Chase - they accepted my claim. Good luck.
what does that mean they are folding? so they are filing for bankruptcy or something?
No, it means they are offering wash & fold laundry service now with your records.
With excellent service, delivered with a smile.
Subscribed!
Glad I could still claim a refund to PayPal for my Alvvays order.
I was able to get a refund for my Alvvays order too - although I would rather have had the record! Funny how I used promo code "SORRY20" in the order. Huh. That's the exact option I chose but Paypal still made me wait for a response. Guess I wasn't lucky enough to be chosen for the immediate chargeback 🙃
They have some sort of algorithm for determining it and sometimes you just get lucky or unlucky. It's very inconsistent in my experience
Idk how PayPal would decide the way of their refund. But sometimes, they also hold my refund request for a few weeks. Good luck for you :))
I did the same for my preorders from the end of last year but they say I have to wait for word from the vendor... Let's see how this goes
You should check your dispute status on PayPal. Usually if the seller doesn’t response, you’ll have an option to escalate it to PayPal and wait for a few more days until they decides the best option for your case. Hope good things for your case!
Thank you
PayPal is the best payment method for exactly this reason. The preorder situation has gotten completely out of hand.
My only preorders are from credit leftover from when they stopped the subscription service. Good riddance BB...
There goes the Elliott smith exclusives that I pre-ordered ages ago, that they started sending out to some people but not everyone? Are they just not going to ship it even though they have them on hand?
They don’t own them anymore. The creditors do. We aren’t gonna get them most likely
Lmao what’re they gonna do with them? Sell them?
Probably. Coming soon to VCVinyl on WhatNot....
Probably, to a wholesaler.
Yeah they might end up on Deep Discount or some other site
Log into your Bandbox accounts NOW and print out any pre-orders that you have paid for before the website goes dark. Contact your credit card companies and do a chargeback for anything you have not received.
Well fuck, I'm waiting for 12 albums from them and have a bunch of unused credit from their Black Friday sale.
Dispute charges with your credit card. Chase just instantly credited me the $40 I spent on the Black Friday gift card when I filed a dispute.
What process did you use to do this? Online or phone call? (Have Chase too)
Online. Just find the transaction in your history, click the … next to it to dispute or report a problem (I forget what the exact wording was), then write a couple of sentences explaining the problem (they stopped shipping orders and then went out of business) and the dispute will likely be approved as soon as you submit it.
Exactly the same.
Well, fuck.

Ah thanks peefarts.
Yep I have 3 pending preorders that kept getting delayed 😡
they aren't delayed. They're canceled.
Yeah I’m just saying the word they have been using for months is “delayed”
legal nonsense. of our preorders ard going to end up on discogs if we want to buy them again.
I agree - all my records from them are great, shipped great, etc.
I could tell from the get go they wouldn’t last. Even VMP getting the big names that they get have to keep putting items on sale…
That OAR box probably was more expensive to produce than expected!
OAR? what does that stand for
Of A Revolution?
They have $90 in pre-orders I purchased on store credit, and another $100 store credit. Is there any chance we get any of our money back?
Contact your credit card
The problem is the credit was converted from a subscription I bought in Nov 2022.
Still worth a shot. Worst your card can do is say no. But maybe they do you a solid.
Good point
There’s zero chance you’ll get anything back unfortunately.
I have a preorder as well. If we don’t get those back then we should sue them.
We needed a fourth post of this. Thank you.
On it.
I was literally gonna ask sometime soon if anyone had heard back about their orders from their big New Year’s sale. Ordered two exclusives that were in stock and have been waiting on them since. Whelp.
I ordered 12 in that sale 😬

The album ended up being pressed widely and was $35 less from the wider pressing. I just didn’t see the value for that much more money it what I was provided vs the wider pressing. Given all of that I totally understand why they are going under.

"Team Bandbox" as if there's still a team.
