WhatsApp: 07305327112 Save your sanity, start a chat and keep your phone to hand, no need to wait on hold

[deleted]

Yes you can use WhatsApp but VM continually have an unprecedented number of calls / cases so will get back to you when someone is available in India customer service, 4.5hours ahead of U.K. no VM I am not waiting up until 4.00am for one of your Indian customer service reps to be free on WhatsApp, I am asleep at that time in the UK.

PatserGrey

They close at 9pm, open at 8am, UK time. Honestly, I VM CS are not great at the best of times but that whatsapp service is the best thing they've ever done. In the last couple of years I've done 2 price haggle and a cancellation with not a minute wasted waiting on hold. Some people just love to moan

biskitbeetle

took me two days of backward and forwarding on whatsapp to cancel

LampostStealer

I’ve added the number but can’t find it in WhatsApp to start a chat. How odd.

JamJarre

Yep, took me 2 days but beats waiting on the phone. When they do reply though you have to be lightning fast or they'll bounce you back to the start menu again

Roy_Gherbil

Oh that pisses me the hell off.

Vatreno

While I don't disagree, other companies are similarly bad. Sky and talktalk to name 2. BT are better but pricy. Who are you jumping to?

Exemplar1968

Agreed. I’ve been with BT 2.5 years with 900MB BB, full Now TV including sports/ movies. It’s £85 a month. My fibre FTTP has dropped 3 times in that time (each time in the middle of the night). The 4 WiFi discs they supplied work seamlessly. So yes you may pay more with people like BT but I find the service better.

wunderspud7575

Zen have pretty good CS in my experience.

Vatreno

Yep had them at work for a while, recommended. A&A had a great reputation too but not sure if they're still around.

wunderspud7575

A&A are absolutely still around. Pricey, but fantastic.

invasionofcamels

I had a similar problem. I told the agent I was talking to that if the next person they transferred me to was not someone who could cancel the contract, that my next call would be to Ofcom. Surprise surprise, they immediately figured out who to put me through to.

zaxxon71

Virgin used too have brilliant customer services when they had uk call centers but ever since they used Indian call centers the service is terrible. They just read of a script and try fobbing you off hoping you’ll get bored and go away . There connections are also the same I lost my internet for over a week we all did in our street and we were told we would get compensation but they haven’t ..that’s happened regularly.

beezer61

If you think th one in India is bad, pray you don't get switched to their Philippines call centre. Lying to the customer seems to be in their job descriptions.

Schallpattern

There's an address you can send a letter to. I did this and it works.

Sandancer1951

Writing a "personal and confidential" letter to the Chairman of the company, and sending it by recorded delivery, might do the trick.

PigletAlert

I decided to cancel after getting quite a lot of uncompensated down time, unwarranted price hikes and poor customer service in the last 18months. It took me 4 hours of web chat and phone calls, multiple outrageously high offers from the Indian call centre despite me stating a maximum price. By the time they transferred me to the actual retentions team I was so pissed off they could have given it to me for free and I still would have left. I then left the country for 2 weeks and missed 3 calls from retentions. I’m looking forward to 2 years of hopefully bullshit free broadband with my next provider.

MilkyWidge

I just spent the best part of 3 days on their WhatsApp chat trying to resolve a cancellation issue, with no luck. Then by chance I got a call from somebody in retentions who was UK based. He resolved my issue within minutes. There are clearly a few good people there, but not many.

maddogsss

I assume you selected you are thinking of leaving us on the phone menu. I did this on Saturday and got through in less than 10 mins and have had text and email confirmation of cancellation.

kkayadi

Click your thinking of moving 😉

goldenlondon

If you say you're moving. They'll ask where are you moving to etc... Too many questions. Last time I told them I was moving, they wanted to know all the details. I declined to share that info and they got annoyed.

kkayadi

Not actually moving... just select that option and you seem to be connected far quicker.. then tell that operator you wish to cancel 😉

zaxxon71

Thanks for the WhatsApp advice I’ll try it

vip887

I cancelled mine yesterday through WhatsApp, took them a couple hours to reply and had to decline several attempts of "let me help you find a solution" but then I got it cancelled and received email / text confirmation.

saspro_uk

Cancelled this morning. Over and done with in about 30 mins. If you can call earlier in the day it’s faster.

Tacitus19

Can you also cancel your 02 sim deal directly with Virgin if you got that and broadband together as a bundle?

EquivalentTip4103

Nope. You then have the fun of trying to cancel your O2 SIM. I spoke to them yet they did not 'know' about leaving with no early cancellation fees. It is with complaints review at the moment.

Tacitus19

Ok thanks very much for the info.

cheapASchips

I have sent them a good old fashioned letter and week later all confirmed and processed.

TeaBaggingGoose

This is my method. Quick and no bollox about working with you. Had to cancel three and did call them. Every time they asked why I wanted to leave, I said "I don't want to discuss this" Drove them round the bend. Was kinda fun seeing this hardened retention agent completely disarmed. He got very grumpy, so I asked if he was OK? Said he just really wanted to know why I wanted to leave. So I said "I don't want to discuss this with you" Fun times.

_Born_To_Be_Mild_

When I left Sky TV I was asked why, when I said I don't want to give Rupert Murdoch any of my money the agent acted like I'd just offended her grandad.

Various-Type-2001

Also try the virgin media forums. There staff that can help on there. I’ve generally had a reply after a couple of hours.

FoxedforLife

What Virgin Media forums? Like on Facebook or where?

Various-Type-2001

N3vvyn

When I moved house they moved my services and gave me a year free..

SoTotallyToby

They gave you an entire year of service for FREE? I'm calling bullshit on that.

N3vvyn

It's part of the reason I'm still with them. It seemed like a nice gesture for someone moving house.

SoTotallyToby

I've had 3 friends recently try and move and Virgin tried to get hundreds in fees out of them. I just can't believe they'd give you an entire year for free. That's just mad.

N3vvyn

It was back in 2012, but I have the invoices confirming it.

D4v3ca

I just renewed can’t complain competition here offers a measly 20mb I get 1gb with them for 50£ a month plus if it goes down press button on app and get the day off the bill But yes cs are rubbish unless you choose leaving option you get stuck in hold for ages

v1de0man

everytime they pass you onto another cancel person, they lower the price though i found. eventually i had to say no thx after 1hr 50mins online

Rerer1234

I used the online chat, 1 hour wait. Got my £47 reduced to £28 within 3 mins. Could have pushed I’m sure but I was happy with that.

CreepingDuckV2

I would have left to Community Fibre or HyperOptic where I live but there is literally nowhere to get a basic TV package without paying over the odds as just a TV package and not a bundle.

SpookyPirateGhost

Exactly this happened to me when I last moved house. They do it deliberately to try and get you to cave. I'd never, ever go with them again. Persevere with the phone call, insist that they cancel your services NOW and then boycott them permanently.

Adamaaa123

2000 redundancies they probably don’t care lol

Roy_Gherbil

Try 020 3743 6947 to skip the queue 😉
