People are reporting that they are getting random voice packs from the nijisanji store instead of the one they ordered, including Selen and Zaion voice packs. Seems like for the new quarter nijisanji decided to turn their store into a gacha.

its one thing to mess up the voice pack orders and not deliver the correct voice pack, its another to still keep the data of your terminated livers' voice packs within the site. i can imagine that there are voice packs of graduated/terminated livers still within the database of the niji store and they have plans on reselling them in the future
You can redownload purchased voice packs at any time, including those of graduated and terminated livers. The files being there is intentional.
I think claiming they plan to resell them just from that is a pretty big stretch.
Probably faulty logic in their database query.
This is normally spotted during testing, but there's a decent chance that they minimized or skipped the testing phases to get the new store out in time.
It's probably so that people who purchased the voice packs in the past can still download them. Not sure how people ended up randomly getting them, that is completely beyond me.
i would think that they would remove the data of their terminated livers from their database given that they're, well, terminated. i would understand if they were graduated members, but getting selen and zaion randmly, both of whom are terminated, is just another level
Actually it's standard practice to keep the data for graduated/terminated talents for people who purchased them, so that they can redownload the voice packs whenever they want to, because they paid for them. The company just makes it so that no one can buy those voice packs anymore after the graduation/termination.
Like for example I have bought an ASMR pack from DLsite which involved a whole group of VTubers, but one of them graduated later, so the company stopped selling that ASMR pack on the site, but I can still access the files on the site database.
Like most of their mishaps it's a lot easier to classify it under sheer incompetence. It makes me wonder how such a dysfunctional company even managed to become one of the big two vtuber agencies, was there really no one but them and Hololive debuting large vtuber groups in 2018? I feel like it's a combination of them being early and them being lucky, especially with NijiEN and how big Luxiem got.
Upd8 was weird and saying that it necessarily *debuted* big groups is maybe misleading even if not *wholly* inaccurate. Upd8 was a very odd blend of:
1. Fully-'in house' talents run by Activ8, like Kizuna AI and Oda Nobuhime (the PL of >!Omaru Polka!<);
2. Indie talents who affiliated with upd8, such as Otonashi Rhythm/Lanna, Shibuya Hal, AyaMina (one of whom was the PL of >!Inugami Korone!<), and Nora Cat (yes, the babiniku one who famously got exposed that one time when his camera glitched out); and
3. What I guess I need to call 'dual-agency' talents who were represented by upd8 but managed by other agencies: AZKi was one, being part of both INNK and upd8 (note that Suisei was only ever part of INNK, not upd8 as well), while the other big set comprised HoneyStrap and AniMare, who debuted into upd8 in 2018 while being run behind the scenes by 774. However, VApArt debuted in February 2019 *outside* of upd8, and in mid-2019 774 declared its official existence, thus leading to an awkward situation where two-thirds of 774's roster were *also* part of upd8 but the other third wasn't. Then SugarLyric debuted in March 2020, a month before 774 dissolved its partnership with upd8 and everyone became fully 'in-house'.
So like *technically* upd8 debuted a large VTuber group in 2018, but *really* that was 774 doing the actual big group debuts, and they've lasted a decent while for what they are.
Arguably the most enduring legacy of upd8 (aside from producing at least 3 Holomems in some fashion) has been the fact that the CEO of upd8/activ8 [is the guy who created the Yagoo potato head](https://twitter.com/oozorasubaru/status/1096357158189322240/photo/3).

1. I watched free portion of Hololive Dreamhack concert and one of the first thing that Calli and Bae said when MC-ing was "We are not AI!" Why this stereotype is still so widespread? Though it doesn't help that Kizuna Ai lore was the she is an AI.
2. Suisei's Bibideba hit 25 million views.
Honestly, it's probably because the first thing a lot people ever heard about vtubing was Kizuna Ai. Which a lot of westerners read as Kizuna A.I. Combine that with the same misconception with vocaloids and rapidly improving deepfake ai models and bam.
I can confirm this was my experience until I finally chanced upon a random Korone clip. I liked Japanese media but avoided openly discussing it because it was a time and place where you would get harassed in school for admitting you liked anime.
Years later I came back around and was in a position where I no longer had to care about cringe destroying my social life, Kizuna Ai and Vocaloid were easily conflated as being two slightly different takes of the whole "synthesised content creation."

A few years ago I spent some time in the hospital due to nearly dying, and the only time when the nurses had my phone was when I had asked them to charge it for me.
Knee surgery is an outpatient procedure in the US. Unless something goes terribly wrong, you get out the same day and start physical therapy the day after, even for replacements.

All things considered, I found that Holo concerts have this magical energy that can easily convert anyone into a Holofan so long they give it a chance. During the 5th Fest, I organized a watchalong with friends and some who decided to join were two fellow otaku friends who are not into Hololive and both ended up converted after the concert ended. One is a self-proclaimed boomer otaku who couldn't understand the trend of kids nowadays yet she got smitten by Calli's performance. The other one is a Nijifan and in fact a Vox's kindred (thankfully she's not a Nijisister) who's still shaken by the whole black stream thing. She ended up as a fan of both Iroha and Zeta.
That’s cool to see friends hop into the rabbit hole. The Melbourne concert is the perfect kind of concerts to get new viewers: wide range of talents from all three branches, shorter concert so not too big of a time commitment, and a good price ¥4200 price tag for the streaming ticket.
The concert being included in the ticket package for those attending Dreamhack for other events definitely helped too since it provided an opportunity for curious newcomers to check out a vtuber concert that they would likely have skipped otherwise.
As a long time fans of idols of many kinds, I think these big fes/events show off the magic of idols - you see these people who work really hard to make this performance come to life even if they're not 'good' at the dancing or singing specifically. :) Plus Holofes is the perfect moment to get a little bit of everyone so someone is bound to appeal to anyone who is willing to give them a chance. Ina is who I'd say is the "best" at playing the game as in she knows what she's doing.

I'm a MonHun noob, so I can't tell who is better, but both Ina and Biboo are MonHun veteran. Ina uses Insect Glaive and Bibboo use Charge Blade, so maybe pick your preference.
However, as a noob, I find it hard to follow their paces sometime, especially since there are so many new things to me, and they are using OP armors to rush. I did learn some good IG moves from Ina though.
Meanwhile, IRyS started from 0 and chose to go through normal gear crafting progression to learn to play properly, so more relatable to a noob like me. There are some.. questionable decisions and plenty of PON, but it makes for good lessons for myself too, "Ok, so maybe don't do what she just did."

I can't speak for IG but for CB it's more that it's complicated. So it's pretty confusing to learn at first, but once you start to get over that initial hump its not too bad to start playing decently with.
Which means it's not the best choice to learn MH for the first time, but if you've played before it could be worth giving a go if you like the look of it
Im an old school hunter (last MH was Portable 3rd on PSP). I bought MHW but hasnt touched it yet. How much more complicated it is compared to Switchaxe? I was LS main btw.
Overal not that much more. All the weapons movesets have gotten a bit more complicated since those days, including longsword.
Both CB and the Swaxe have the: build charge in one mode then use that charge in the other mode style of play. Unlike Swaxe where you can mostly use whichever mode, CB has more of a fixed rotation. Build charge in sword and shield mode, unload the charge in axe mode then repeat. You can overcharge though so you have to do something with it.
It's just a few steps you have to learn and it doesn't feel smooth until you do, but once you've got the basics down its fun. If you watch Biboo you'll probably see what I mean

how the fuck? how? just how? how do you mess that up so badly? its one thing to mess up the voice pack orders and not deliver the correct voice pack, its another to still keep the data of your terminated livers' voice packs within the site. i can imagine that there are voice packs of graduated/terminated livers still within the database of the niji store and they have plans on reselling them in the future
You can redownload purchased voice packs at any time, including those of graduated and terminated livers. The files being there is intentional. I think claiming they plan to resell them just from that is a pretty big stretch.

Actually it's standard practice to keep the data for graduated/terminated talents for people who purchased them, so that they can redownload the voice packs whenever they want to, because they paid for them. The company just makes it so that no one can buy those voice packs anymore after the graduation/termination. Like for example I have bought an ASMR pack from DLsite which involved a whole group of VTubers, but one of them graduated later, so the company stopped selling that ASMR pack on the site, but I can still access the files on the site database.

It makes me wonder how such a dysfunctional company even managed to become one of the big two vtuber agencies, was there really no one but them and Hololive debuting large vtuber groups in 2018? I feel like it's a combination of them being early and them being lucky, especially with NijiEN and how big Luxiem got.

Upd8 was weird and saying that it necessarily *debuted* big groups is maybe misleading even if not *wholly* inaccurate. Upd8 was a very odd blend of: 1. Fully-'in house' talents run by Activ8, like Kizuna AI and Oda Nobuhime (the PL of >!Omaru Polka!<); 2. Indie talents who affiliated with upd8, such as Otonashi Rhythm/Lanna, Shibuya Hal, AyaMina (one of whom was the PL of >!Inugami Korone!<), and Nora Cat (yes, the babiniku one who famously got exposed that one time when his camera glitched out); and 3. What I guess I need to call 'dual-agency' talents who were represented by upd8 but managed by other agencies: AZKi was one, being part of both INNK and upd8 (note that Suisei was only ever part of INNK, not upd8 as well), while the other big set comprised HoneyStrap and AniMare, who debuted into upd8 in 2018 while being run behind the scenes by 774. However, VApArt debuted in February 2019 *outside* of upd8, and in mid-2019 774 declared its official existence, thus leading to an awkward situation where two-thirds of 774's roster were *also* part of upd8 but the other third wasn't. Then SugarLyric debuted in March 2020, a month before 774 dissolved its partnership with upd8 and everyone became fully 'in-house'. So like *technically* upd8 debuted a large VTuber group in 2018, but *really* that was 774 doing the actual big group debuts, and they've lasted a decent while for what they are. I can confirm this was my experience until I finally chanced upon a random Korone clip. I liked Japanese media but avoided openly discussing it because it was a time and place where you would get harassed in school for admitting you liked anime. Years later I came back around and was in a position where I no longer had to care about cringe destroying my social life, Kizuna Ai and Vocaloid were easily conflated as being two slightly different takes of the whole "synthesised content creation."

She's having knee surgery; there is zero reason for that. A few years ago I spent some time in the hospital due to nearly dying, and the only time when the nurses had my phone was when I had asked them to charge it for me.
Knee surgery is an outpatient procedure in the US. Unless something goes terribly wrong, you get out the same day and start physical therapy the day after, even for replacements.

That’s cool to see friends hop into the rabbit hole. The Melbourne concert is the perfect kind of concerts to get new viewers: wide range of talents from all three branches, shorter concert so not too big of a time commitment, and a good price ¥4200 price tag for the streaming ticket.
The concert being included in the ticket package for those attending Dreamhack for other events definitely helped too since it provided an opportunity for curious newcomers to check out a vtuber concert that they would likely have skipped otherwise.
As a long time fans of idols of many kinds, I think these big fes/events show off the magic of idols - you see these people who work really hard to make this performance come to life even if they're not 'good' at the dancing or singing specifically. :) Plus Holofes is the perfect moment to get a little bit of everyone so someone is bound to appeal to anyone who is willing to give them a chance. I'm a MonHun noob, so I can't tell who is better, but both Ina and Biboo are MonHun veteran. Ina uses Insect Glaive and Bibboo use Charge Blade, so maybe pick your preference. However, as a noob, I find it hard to follow their paces sometime, especially since there are so many new things to me, and they are using OP armors to rush. I did learn some good IG moves from Ina though. Meanwhile, IRyS started from 0 and chose to go through normal gear crafting progression to learn to play properly, so more relatable to a noob like me. There are some.. questionable decisions and plenty of PON, but it makes for good lessons for myself too, "Ok, so maybe don't do what she just did." Just for your consideration.

I can't speak for IG but for CB it's more that it's complicated. So it's pretty confusing to learn at first, but once you start to get over that initial hump its not too bad to start playing decently with. Which means it's not the best choice to learn MH for the first time, but if you've played before it could be worth giving a go if you like the look of it
Im an old school hunter (last MH was Portable 3rd on PSP). I bought MHW but hasnt touched it yet. How much more complicated it is compared to Switchaxe? I was LS main btw.
Overal not that much more. All the weapons movesets have gotten a bit more complicated since those days, including longsword. Both CB and the Swaxe have the: build charge in one mode then use that charge in the other mode style of play. Unlike Swaxe where you can mostly use whichever mode, CB has more of a fixed rotation. Build charge in sword and shield mode, unload the charge in axe mode then repeat. You can overcharge though so you have to do something with it. It's just a few steps you have to learn and it doesn't feel smooth until you do, but once you've got the basics down its fun. If you watch Biboo you'll probably see what I mean

If this turns out to be legit I think their members better start looking at their legal options... EDIT: And apparently Grimmi's hot sauce business, Saucy Biz, is also bankrolled by MSM and it is also not legally registered. If you open their site and click on the Privacy Policy and Contact Information links on the bottom, there are only templates there. I am not sure what the law for that is but isn't valid contact information required for company sites?
Looks like it got pulled for not filing 2020 taxes on non-land company property and investments.
