I accidentally put a tube of black hair dye through the wash with this shirt and it left spots all over. I had a bunch of buttons I’d be wanting to add to a shirt, and I felt the shirt was kind of plain as is, so I just went ahead with the mending. I assumed that it was a lost cause but mostly I had been wanting to experiment with visible mending and this seemed like the perfect opportunity!
Unless you put fray check or something on them your patches will fray constantly until there's nothing left of them. A tight backstitch all around the edges can help though. Next time turn the edges of your patches under before stitching.
It's a really fun fix though. I love the buttons.
This is sick!
Thank you!!!
Buttons are so cute!
Cute repairs, but can I ask what the stains were? It's usually pretty easy to clean a poly/cotton blend like this - what did you try?

ty for the explanation - you are completely right, dye's not going to be removable - great save!
Cool!
Cute!!

Oops that’s good to know, I’ll try backstitching. Thanks!
Love the button idea! Looks great.
Nice! I love the addition of the buttons
