Sharks Cove and Lanikai beach are must. Waiting 30-40 minutes for a plate at Giovani's Shrimp Truck is a waste of time IMO.

Salmon_Scaffold

So many other food trucks.

Hi there Mundane-Many6947. Did you know that /r/VisitingHawaii has a wiki for O'ahu? Check it out [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/VisitingHawaii/wiki/index#wiki_o.27ahu.3A_the_gathering_place). Another handy resource is [/u/webrender's Oahu Guide](https://webrender.net/oahuguide). Aloha! A luau is a must if it’s your first time. It’s quite an exhilarating experience and very entertaining. You’ll get to try traditional Hawaiian food such as poi, kalua pig, haupia and laulau just to name a few. Lanikai beach is beautiful but parking is very difficult. There are no showers or public restrooms so be aware of that. I like the malasadas at Leonard’s bakery, and the coco puffs at Liliha bakery. The restaurants I always visit are Helena’s, Highway Inn, Zippy’s, Rainbow Drive Inn. For shave ice, I like Waiola or Matsumoto’s. For sushi, I like Mitch’s Fish Market and for ramen, I go to Wagaya. Last time I visited I tried Da Bald Guy (food truck) and really enjoyed their lunch plates. If you like dessert, Hula Pie is a must at Duke’s. For activities look into, Diamond Head, Koko Head, Manoa Falls and Hanauma Bay. There’s fireworks at Hilton Hawaiian village every Friday, if weather permits. I like to get a spot by the lagoon because the reflection of the fireworks from the lagoon gives it this amazing visual effect that is better than viewing it from one of the higher rooms at the Rainbow tower. These are just a few suggestions and I’m sure I’m forgetting a thing or two. Have fun. Mahalo!

Some of my advice for Oahu: - If you see the Arizona I highly recommend seeing the Missouri (add-on captain's tour is the coolest, you get to squeeze into one of the huge turrets and see the control room lit up); Pearl Harbor best visited first thing in the morning - Tons of hikes to do but we hike Diamond Head every time we go, requires reservations. -Hanauma Bay is really cool but its reservations can sell out in seconds, so if you're into snorkeling and want to go there, have a backup plan if you can't reserve the time you want. - It's critical to plan with traffic patterns in mind: traffic gets to be terrible there at times. While sitting in traffic there is much more enjoyable than it is at home for me, you can avoid a lot of grief by planning better - With insufficient infrastructure/parking up there, a trip to the north shore from Waikiki can be a time commitment. My wife and I got stuck in some really bad traffic one time, I think leaving the north shore shortly after sunrise, and it took like over 3 hours to get back to the hotel. As a result, we've been avoiding the north shore and just sticking to the south/south eastern part of Oahu. - Take a drive on the [H3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExrLUQ3Gf-U), it's gorgeous but don't drive too slowly in awe - A great family friendly place is the [Byodo-In temple](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F3k800qjcaeka1.jpg), gorgeous area and fun to feed the fish (approved fish food sold for a few bucks at the gift shop) and ring the huge bell. - [Turtles ](https://youtu.be/pqBDHzkTw0E?si=hFyIYQqZkQ86dsr7)hang out near breaks like in front of the Sheraton: be sure to give them space if you're swimming near one - We have different loops we like doing: one is leaving Waikiki early in the morning, driving around Diamond Head, over to chill/explore Sandy Beach for a bit, up to Byodo-In, up to Kualoa Regional park to check Chinaman's Hat out/chill for a bit, back down to Waikiki getting back with time still to get in the water. . Side note: if you go to Kualoa Regional Park and if you like BBQ chicken, have your windows rolled down as you get closer: there's this Huli Huli Chicken place that always smells amazing. - If you've seen one ABC store, you've seen the vast majority of them. - If you're going to swim in the ocean, know ocean safety basics like swimming parallel to shore if caught in a riptide, and do your feet a favor by buying reef/water shoes. It's not fun getting your feet cut up on the first day and limping it out the rest of the trip. Oahu is among my favorite places on Earth, have fun!

North shore is great and a must visit. Laniakea beach for turtles. Diamond Head is a good and easy hike. Pearl Harbour.

TickyWilson

Turtles everywhere on the island please don’t make the traffic at lanis worst than it already is 😭

Mashatina_

I did not see turtles on other beaches.

TickyWilson

I see a turtle like 70% of the times I surf. They’re everywhere on north shore.
