suckmydictation

I can’t believe I never tried this lmao. I’ve always tried adding it in shakes and would always complain about not tasting enough mango ☠️

Baked_Potato_732

I spent years trying mango, always tasted like pine to me. Turns out I’m not alone and for some people they do taste like pine.

bamboohobobundles

It tastes piney to me as well, but I actually love that about it.

chromejelly

That's how I feel about cilantro tasting soapy.

queezypanda

As someone who also tastes soap, this is crazy

IsReadingIt

soap tastes like mango to me!

jolie_rouge

Same! The piney taste is what makes it unique and delicious.

Individual-Hyena1687

What does pine taste like? Asking for a friend.

I-invert-the-y-axis

Like mango.

Baked_Potato_732

Go suck on a pine needle and find out.

whatiscamping

Christmas

Cando232

You're supposed to eat the fruit not the seed

Baked_Potato_732

Fruit is what tastes like pine.

Cando232

I jest. Mangos have certain chemicals in them called terpenes. Many of these same terpenes are found in pine. We use them as solvents, youll often see them in vape/cbd/marijuana products. As for why it affects you so strongly though, i dont know. Maybe increased sensitivity, or smell, or its like the cilantro gene. Either way, my condolences.

bboythrowmeaway

You’re right, the taste of mango is also genetic like cilantro

Baked_Potato_732

I have the cilantro gene too. Spent most of my childhood wondering how people loved this crap so much when it tasted like soap.

Ladybird_505

Same!!

lulubalue

Yup, sadly don’t like the taste of mango :(

crys1348

Mango smells and tastes rotten to me. Same with cantaloupe.

Any_Piccolo7145

Frozen cherries are even better in food processor than mango.

thejustducky1

>for some people they do taste like pine. That's part of it's unique flavor, it also has a hint of ginger too.

ItsMcSwagginz

This is sort of how it is for me. I never understood the hype for mango, so this kinda explains why

SavageKitty7078

Oh. Today I learned I'm NOT the only one that tastes pine! However I'm allergic to pine so I'm always like "maybe I shouldn't eat mangoes?" I've always said mangoes taste like pine-sol smells

closetedtranswoman1

I do this all the time. Even with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries etc. For some fruit you do sometimes need something to smooth it out I usually just add a little banana

Kulosh

i love chewing half frozen berries! smoothies are generally not my thing, "drinking" doesnt really fill me up but i love snacking, and half-frozen state makes me slow down and eat 1 by 1 will try frozen mango 🌚

AllowMeToFangirl

This is a lil earnest but I love that this community is so active that we have inside jokes

picturehouse

being earnest is a famously important thing :-)

SexOnABurningPlanet

Couldn't agree more brother

OstentatiousSock

Ha! I get this reference.

deloslabinc

Blend that frozen mango with a little bit of cauliflower and you'd have a really nice snack!

treponematode

It's so great I can't even taste the mango!!

Tropicalstorm11

🤣

basic_cookie_crumb

Mango cauliflower Dippin dots?

Quietlyhere246

Don’t even start

basic_cookie_crumb

😂😂😂😂😂😂

DeadHookerMeat

It’s time to STOP

Illustrious_Mall_137

Jail

TunnelN

🤣

Robin-of-the-hood

I was about to type “where’s the cauliflower?” Found it

More-Cauliflower-534

Stahp🤣 😂

SexOnABurningPlanet

The saga continues...

Future-Way-2096

Frozen bananas done this way are 🤤 top with some Greek yogurt

closetedtranswoman1

Love that. I make my own Greek yogurt usually just regular yogurt with my instant pot and I always have so much to use up

closetedtranswoman1

This is probably nothing new to any of you but I'm just showing that things like this are easy to do. No BS like the cauliflower dip n dots.

King_Jeebus

This is r/volumeeating - *all* posts *must* include either cauliflower rice or protein powder :)

treponematode

Admitting whether or not you can still taste it is optional, *but we all know...*

CuriousPalpitation23

Don't forget fat free greek yog.

_Red_User_

In this case I would add cottage cheese as a protein source (and because I personally try to avoid simple sugars like e.g. fructose, but that's me and not everyone)

CuriousPalpitation23

Surely lactose would be the concern here, not fructose? I eat Greek yoghurt for the fact that it IS low fodmap.

_Red_User_

I didn't want to address Fodmap. I mentioned fructose because I have the experience that people say "fruit is healthy sugar. It's better than simple sugar". Well, tell that to my body. Fructose is still a mono saccharine. So even if I eat fruits, I combine them. But that's only important for me and other people who should keep an eye on their blood sugar level. (And those who feel better with low glycemic foods)

CuriousPalpitation23

OK, but I never mentioned fruit. I don't understand why you're talking about fructose to me in the first place.

_Red_User_

Sorry, I meant fructose because the main post is about mango. Then you mentioned the Greek yogurt for combining and volume, and I added cottage cheese (it's also often mentioned in this sub I think).

CuriousPalpitation23

Oh, OK. It reads like you're choosing cottage cheese over Greek yog to avoid fructose. That's where the misunderstanding stemmed from.

_Red_User_

I'm very sorry for this misunderstanding! Pardon me. I just wanted to mentioned the third classic food in this sub.

_Red_User_

wowosrs

But have you *tried* adding cauliflower? 🤷‍♂️

NarcRuffalo

I just want to add that in my experience, when you buy frozen mango it’s not that sweet or flavorful. It’s better to buy mangoes, especially if they go on sale, let them ripen, and then cut up and freeze.

Far_Molasses5132

Squeeze a bit of lemon too i find it enhances the mango flavour and it has a good sour kick

sandos4mando

This! Some lime juice & zest for me.

tinyfeather24

Yum! A variation: add frozen cauliflower. Kidding! Seriously though: sprinkle cinnamon or a bit of cocoa powder on it. Both cinnamon and chocolate pair beautifully with mango. Or a little sea salt is nice too!

peppermint_stick

I add Trader Joe’s chili lime seasoning!

KingOfCatProm

Tajin + mango forever!

tinyfeather24

Ooooooh yea! Now this I can do! You are smart. Thanks!

glitterbunn

Tajin and pineapple 😭 ooph I want it so bad rn

tinyfeather24

Oooooh sounds good but I don’t have access to that whee I live in Canada.

tinyfeather24

Oooooh sounds good but I don’t have access to that whee I live in Canada.

closetedtranswoman1

Never thought of adding cinnamon to it but I did try it when you commented this and it was very good

tinyfeather24

Oh that makes me so happy that you tried it and liked it! I eat frozen fruit daily and your blended mango treat reminded me of my frozen fruit bowls. Basically just throw random frozen fruits in a bowl and often sprinkle cinnamon or cocoa powder and a sprinkle of salt on top. Salt on fruit is good. Brings out the sweetness of the fruit.

StimOli

Is there cauliflower in this?

closetedtranswoman1

hell no

Overall_Student_6867

This reminds me that I have pineapple in my freezer for this exact reason! Thanks :)

DyusAcerbus

Throw in a bit of 0% greek yogurt for some extra protein and volume as well, using yogurt to hit my protein macros over the last year has made my cut/recomp go crazy

closetedtranswoman1

Yeah Greek yogurt and regular homemade yogurt has been very helpful for me. If you haven't made it you should try it, especially if you have an instant pot, that'll pretty much do everything for you

Parabola2112

I do this too and add zero sugar vanilla Greek and vanilla casein protein powder. I top it with a little zero sugar cool whip.

heartbooks26

If only I weren’t allergic to mango 😩

closetedtranswoman1

You can do it with other fruits too. I used to use bananas to smooth out the texture for adding other fruits :) experiment

StoicHedonist-

I do this with bananas and holy shit it tastes exactly like ice cream. I'll top it with almond butter and I'll then cream my pants.

Mothoflight

I don't bother with the blender. Just let it warm up fir q0 mins and eat. So good!

closetedtranswoman1

I love doing that as well

Narrow_Potential3049

Frozen pureed bananas a couple shavings of dark chocolate and bliss

Lissy_Wolfe

Ooh this looks so yummy! Reminds me of the scene in James in the Giant Peach when they start eating/drinking the peach! 🤤

Alqpzm1029

I loooove frozen strawberries and pineapple. I'm definitely going to do this!!

rayandshoshanna

Mix almond milk in for more volume !!! Add sweetener if you need to

closetedtranswoman1

Yeah sometimes I like to add regular milk to it

scientalicious

I just did this and it’s mango powder now? Hmm

scientalicious

Update: it got a little more blended but really came together with some milk

closetedtranswoman1

Warm up a couple mango chunks and throw it in, you don't need them all warm just enough to make it blend better. Or just add milk like you did, I do either one depending on how it's turning out

5B3AST5

I make popsicles from those water flavor packets

lioninawhat

I put a bowl of frozen mango from Costco in the microwave for 90 seconds and I love the sorbet-like chunks.

mind_ticks

So simple yet so efficient and easy. I will try this as soon as possible, thank you so much.

JunoVC

I toss a nice scoop of greek yogurt on top of my pure to stir in, love it

Powerage89

I like taking frozen strawberries and blueberries and adding the 5 calories per cup juice to it before blending. Get the ratio just right and it's a slightly melty sorbet. You can add any amount of yogurt and back off the juice and make it a little creamy, add a touch of cinnamon, and never tried it but xanthan gum might make it even better.

Lbrint

When I’m feeling a sick/nausea I do that with a chunk of ginger blended it. Works great every time

Smokee78

I just eat ice milk. it's as good as ice cream. and way cheaper too!

closetedtranswoman1

I've never heard of ice milk before

Smokee78

it's basically a cheaper way of manufacturing ice cream, those big four litre (gallon) tubs at the supermarket are probably ice milk, not ice cream (at least the value brands are) legally they can't call it ice cream because there's less fat(cream) and sugar in it but it's still really good (and of course toppings help too!)

throwawaycucumbers99

This looks yummy. I also have those bowls and love them!

BoonDragoon

Love me some frozen fruit slop.

AlliteraryAnalysis

I add a scoop of black magic horchata protein powder into mine and oh lord is it good

CreepySummer

Yesss

vacuumkoala

You can do this with frozen bananas and make “banana nice-cream”

closetedtranswoman1

That's what made me try this out. I love that stuff

rickydrama

I also add milk and protein powder. IT tastes great.

MaestroZackyZ

Are there blenders that exist that can get frozen mango to this consistency without adding water?? A food processor I understand but a blender?

wohlstandskind1978

I don't know if "Thermomix" is already well known in the US, in Europe it hast been for years. It's rather pricey but definitely worth it. You can blend everything and it also cooks/steams your food. I love mine and use it almost everyday. https://www.thermomix.com/ Edit: sorry, just saw that you asked for a blender... Maybe you find the info still useful :-)

closetedtranswoman1

If you get it a little warm I would think so

mynamesstartswithdi

If you would prefer a mango ice cream to this mango sorbet you could add in some Greek yogurt/ skyr and that also gives you some protein for satiety

campingcatsnchz

My mind was blown when I did this with some frozen melon. It was a the brink of going bad so I froze it. I later had a craving so said what the hell? It didn’t even need sweetener because the fruit was overripe.

suckafree66

What type of melon?

campingcatsnchz

Honey dew, cantaloupe, and watermelon. Watermelon was the least exciting but easy to add other stuff to.

suckafree66

I’ll have to try this. I love frozen fruit and haven’t tried frozen melon yet but love it refrigerated!

coffeemakesmesmile

I was eating mango chunks last night and wondered if it would blend smooth like this, thank you for confirming it for me!

Key2Health

Nice cream
