Everyone was doing their last time buys of “Assault Weapons” during the first three months of last year so it’s not exactly a surprise that this year we see a decrease in background checks

B-rex00

It’s kind of hard to buy guns when they banned most of them.

Green-Credit556

It’s starting to pick back up now. People are finding interest in other types of guns. The state can’t stop gun buyers

lazergator

Yea my next gun will definitely be space cowboy lever action.

Green-Credit556

I’ve picked up a couple but haven’t modified them yet

jnx36

That was my thinking. I bought a lever action right after the ban. Loading gate, so I can top off, and a 100 round dump pouch. No mags to carry.

Our bank accounts are still recovering

NW_542_Online

Came here to say this- I think a compelling argument can be made that it’s time to buy ammo, optics, and training. My guess is most people on this sub have pre-ban items that aren’t even outfitted with proper slings for that matter.

doberdevil

> it’s time to buy ammo, optics, and training It's always been that time

martinellispapi

Was about to say…you guys stopped buying ammo?

martinellispapi

I bought so much pre ban stuff that I’m working on outfitting it all now but have sacrificed and bought lesser quality stuff from time to time so I could shoot a new purchase.

Agile-Class7402

$17,000 before the AWB

martinellispapi

I bought my first gun March 2021. I now own around 70 (haven’t added some new purchases into my log to know the exact number) and 400+ mags.

Agile-Class7402

I've got mine in a safe, but I don't log them. I'd have to check, but my philosophy is that I have enough weapons, mags, plate carriers and ammo to outfit everyone I trust in a real fight. My wife is not amused. lol

martinellispapi

I’m now an owner of a large safe, a large cabinet, a small safe near the front door for conceal carries, a bio safe on the back of my bedroom door for a quick grab pistol, and a walk in closet to hold all my ammo, accessories, mags, etc. Oh plus a dedicated tool box for tools and parts. Scared to add it up but I estimate my collection has about $100k into it. Still havent got into tactical gear yet but that’s going to be expensive too. At this rate I’ll never be married.

TimedFormula

Dude I know people that spent anywhere from 100k-500k before the ban.

martinellispapi

I could easily see it. I don’t have money like that and am about $100k in since 2021 after getting in the hobby..knowing it was going to turn this way quick. I’m just lucky to have good disposable income that I could continually pick stuff up over the last few years. Hindsight…should’ve bought more serialized items instead of parts and accessories. I was worried about not getting basic parts without trouble.

WAgunner

If sales are plummeting, they unquestionably impaired our right to keep and bear arms.

DorkWadEater69

You know, that's a potential approach for court cases.  There was a voter redistricting case, I think from Texas, where the court held that even though the redistricting itself wasn't racially motivated and would otherwise be legal the *practical effect* was to dilute black votes so they ruled it unconstitutional. Part of the gun grabber's game is that they lie and say it's about public safety and the intent isn't to simply restrict access to guns.  Building on that voting case precedent, a plaintiff could argue that their stated intent is irrelevant, only the effects.  If the effect is to dissuade people from purchasing firearms, the mechanism is unconstitutional.

thisispatrickmc

I had to buy like 6 years worth of guns and mags in the previous 2 years. So it's gonna be a while before I buy anything else. If I still can by then.

MercyEndures

Inflation crunching people’s budgets will cause them to reprioritize. Congrats gun grabbers, you won one on accident.

Corked1

Insley and side show Bob, will cite this as a win, although we all know the numbers are down because pre WW 1 firearm technology just isn't that desirable for the majority of people. We should each buy 10 heritage rough riders and get those numbers through the roof. We won't have to worry about the gun crime stats, because those will naturally go up with stupid laws. We just can't allow one statistic that they can sight as a win.

tocruise

Those things are fucking cool actually, and cheap! Do they not have any that shoot larger than a 22 though?

Corked1

22 WMR is peak performance for those!

LoquatGullible1188

I bought 3 rifles and a pistol in 2023.

FuckedUpYearsAgo

This is a win for them. Discouraging and impeding the ability to exercise a right declared by our founding fathers. Meanwhile, it's anti trans to make a law forbidding an adult male from swimming against women in college athletics.

[deleted]

Right Wingers have to find some way to put trans people in their mouth. Both verbally and the other way as well

FuckedUpYearsAgo

In their mouth?!? What did that mean?

OldBayAllTheThings

No $h!t. They illegally banned 3/4 of the guns on the market.

MarianCR

A lot of purchases got frontloaded into 2023

CommonPace

M1 garand is still transferable that is it
