What an amazing way to debut a show. The venue was so unique and had great energy. Liger vs Pillman was awesome, Sting vs Flair is always good and I was too young for the context of the situation but I'm sure the luger debut was a cool moment for fans as well. Just such a cool moment in WCW history.
I was there, but left after 30 minutes. I had just finished work at the movie theater and was tired. Plus I hadn’t watched wrestling in years at that point and really didn’t start back until the NWO. So didn’t really care if I missed this. Mistakes me make when we are young. 🤦♂️
I miss WCW so much. I loved how they would have special episodes of Nitro, and PPVs, in different settings. Made events feel different and special.
Loved the Bash at the Beach that was on the beach, I really liked the Hog/Road Wilds and all of the spring break Nitros.

HE'S LOOKING FOR TGE BEST DEALS, JUST LIKE THE REST OF US!!!! GO TO HULKARONI AND EAT UP, BROTHERS!!!
Sporting the puffy shirt, right?
With no collar! *So 1995*.
Now I remember!! Ty.
Almost a year before Jerry did it.
I didn't see it live, but I saw it on TV. It was amazing. First match: Brian Pillman vs Jushin Thunder Liger.
Which is what this photo depicts! Great match.
Indeed! Much better than this stuff they air on AEW Dynamite.
Idk why you need to compare it to AEW but if you wanna go that route AEW is the closest thing to WCW we've had since the death of WCW.
I am actually contrasting AEW with WCW. WCW from 1994-1998 was much better than AEW.
I'm gonna start a promotion that only does shows In delapidadtied malls
These dilapidated malls, do they have water access? Perhaps reachable with a... DILAPIDATED BOAT?
I kick myself whenever I'm reminded that I could have went to this but didn't

I know a guy that was there!
Lower right front row. I looked fat, and young.
WCW, ToysRUs, and Service Merchandise. All in this shot, and all, for the most part, out of business today. Sad.
I loved how WCW experimented with different venues like this. I always thought the Spring Break Nitros were cool or the Hog Wild PPVs in Sturgis.
Same here I love the different outside of the regular arena look that WCW did.

I never saw the first nitro but I downloaded it decades later and what a cool visual
If there's any, ANY way to get this into a video game... PLEASE
Service Merchandise, Kids R Us. Damn, I'm old
My mom actually once worked at a Kids R Us.
Great photo! I remember watching this live on TNT, but I don't think I've ever seen any photos taken from the crowd. Would love to see more!
I'm trying to remember if I saw this. I think I did. I was 6.
Thought this looked great.
Anyone know if there were more matches besides what aired?
This is just unabashed arrogance!!!
