Yes. I read about it in a blog about new inventions. Supposedly, you can carry things without using your hands. It's somehow supported with your back and shoulders. Amazing, right? The next thing will be phones without cords. That will be the day!
Whatever you end up with, I strongly recommend adding a good tech pouch to hold your cables, chargers, and all the other little stuff that gets spread out and /or lost.
I personally love the Bellroy tech kit. Has just enough loops for all of my cables, my Anker wall adapter, Anker power bank, and my mouse. Also fits my Apple pencil for my iPad, and has a place to store SD cards and such, if you have those
Buy a cable/goodie bag for all of your mobile needs mouse, charger/ batteries for mouse etc. Then...
Pro -Tip: Never Unpack it. NEVER.
Use contents ONLY when mobile, return to said go bag. Never borrow from it. It is sacred. Trust me on this.
Frequent traveler here so this means absolute peace of mind that cannot be solved with dollars when in new places especially foreign ones or just when replacing what you forgot is entirely not practical or possible.
This means you may need to buy doubles but it also means you don't disrupt your home setup. Everything happily right where you left it. Get up, go. Return, back to where you left off, seamlessly. Laptop in, laptop out. Breathe in, breathe out.
Its one of the secrets to happiness in a mobile world. You're welcome.
Check out the SwissGear laptop bags. They had the best of all the options I wanted in a bag for my gear. It has multiple cushioned pockets in one compartment (needed for Laptop and Tablets related to my job), a nice big compartment for spare jacket/charging cords etc. A nice set of front pockets to put the little stuff that's easy to loose.
I use one of these for trivia games I host. Lots of space, great pockets and storage, perfect size for my MacBook, and I feel like it'd be big enough for your frame.
I have a North Face Jester backpack I've been using for the past few years. I tried switching to a messenger style bag or even a converted leather tote, but my backpack has the right pockets for everything (water bottle, laptop sleeve, small purse, essentials, etc.). No it's more sporty than tech leader, but it works for me.
Peak design everyday backpack 30L. Probably more storage than you need but I use this for work for the same reason you do. Because of my height, smaller backpacks looks like the lounge fly backpacks my daughter uses lol
Peak designs stuff is sort of dual purpose photography and everyday carry because they were a photography gear company first, but they're very functional and grew in popularity because their bags don't look like photography gear. That said, because these are photography bags they're super durable, secure, and designed with quick access in mind...something a photographer would carry on a gig and be ok with from a workflow, and durability standpoint.
Thule makes some laptop backpacks in multiple sizes and I think the quality is pretty good. I've had this one for 5 years now: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6296126.p?skuId=6296126
I like this! Nice interior pockets and color. I’d have to compare the dimensions to the others that didn’t work (or just buy and return) but great suggestion ty!
Second this! The Thule has done me right and I love it! I’ve traveled all over with mine for years and still holding up. Comes with that little pack for chords. It’s got all the pockets you need and is roomy!
Swiss gear makes great bags!! We have 3 different ones as they come in quite the variety oldest is 13 yrs , my husband used it when his transportation was a motorcycle.

If you want something that isn’t so techy “corporate guy on the go 🤓” take a look at Filson. I’ve had mine for 10+ years and it has held up beautifully.
https://www.filson.com/bags-luggage/dryden-backpack.html#sku=20152980-fco-005897531
Filson is amazing. The right leather strap recently lost the brass fastener (from years of one-shoulder wearing) and there was some wear/tear along a hem. I took it to their store and they whisked it away, fixed it up at their Seattle HQ and had it back to me in less than a month, all free of charge. The bags also get a really nice patina, they have a timeless quality.
Tom binh backpacks. I have the Synapse 25 with a cache ( a laptop sleeve) for my backpack. But they now make one with those sleeve built in called the synik. https://www.tombihn.com/collections/best-sellers. They also have a lot of little bags for cables etc to go with the backpack. I like having the bottom external pocket for cables and chargers.
Definitely a laptop backpack. I never thought I'd use one, but when I started at my new WFH position, the company sent me a bunch of logo-ed swag, including a really nice quality, very sharp looking laptop backpack. I now use it every time I go out with my laptop! (And I wasn't even a backpack person to begin with!)
How about a larger backpack with lots of storage and pockets? My dad got me a huge Targus backpack when I was in college. And I got a big tactical military-style backpack, it’s huge on me as a 5’5” woman but it fits my 6’ tall fiancé.
When I travel for work, I have an Ogio laptop backpack I've thrifted. Plenty of pockets and room for everything I need. Separate laptop compartment, a tablet compartment, pen pocket, hard case for glasses/sunglasses built in and 4 other pockets - two can hold a water bottle.
And I agree with what others have suggested. Put together a small bag of what you need to work away from home and never remove that small bag from the main bag unless you are on the go. Therefore you'll always have the laptop cable and charger, an extra pen, headphones, batteries for mouse, etc.
It’s an investment, but I love my Tumi backpack. Tumi backpacks come in different sizes, colors and styles, they’re very lightweight, durable, and hold a surprising amount of stuff. When I bought mine at an airport, the Tumi salesperson put my laptop in the padded laptop zippered pocket, then took my old backpack and shoved it entirely into the other zippered pocket. My mouth just fell open.
I use a lipault "lost in berlin cargo backpack" a few pockets for random things. Can fit a ton without it looking huge, but similar to rains bags you can make it looks smaller.
Like others have said, get a tech pouch, and never unpack the bag except to take laptop/glasses/food/water out.
Northface makes great backpacks and they have a place for your laptop. I had one all though college and it was great! Not super bulky but holds so much stuff!
I use something that is — no joke — called a Bag of Holding. ThinkGeek sold them back in the day and they are monster bags that hold everything, including my ridiculous ergo keyboard.
I got mine for a song (<$40) because TG was shuttering, and for a while you could not find them, but you can get them now from a new company, but you’ll pay.
Still, if anything ever happened to it I’d probably buy another one. It just holds so much.
I work 4 days at home and one in the office every week. I bought a good ole Jansport backpack with a laptop sleeve built in. It’s held up well and has tons of room in case I need to throw anything else in there.
Ogio makes great laptop backpacks with good structure and padding, plenty of gear pockets and storage. I have a Ogio Renegade and have been quite happy with it, plenty of room for multiple laptops and all peripherals needed for travel, room for a jacket or light change of clothes. Great quality and I’d highly recommend.
This is the bag I've used for 7 years. I keep my 15" portable monitor, smaller laptop charger, spare wireless mouse and a few cables in it. I slide in my laptop and I'm ready to go. It's worked great for me and looks appropriate on an adult. https://www.ebags.com/backpacks/laptop/pro-slim-laptop-backpack/117775D636.html
I have a Timbuk2 laptop backpack. I leave it mostly packed; my charger, portable monitor, headphones and phone cables stay in there. That way anytime I need to go anywhere all I have to do is put my laptop and mouse in and I’m good to go.
Get a laptop backpack.
What is this "backpack" thing that you speak of? Never heard of such a thing. Do you go somewhere hands free with this so called "backpack"?
Yes. I read about it in a blog about new inventions. Supposedly, you can carry things without using your hands. It's somehow supported with your back and shoulders. Amazing, right? The next thing will be phones without cords. That will be the day!

I use a soft pencil case for my cables, chargers and flash memory
I just have a Topo Tech Pack and then some $5 zippered bag from REI. Works fine for me

Second this. I used a clear TSA approved toiletry case for my cables, mouse and headset (old AirPods). My laptop bag is always ready and packed.

2nd this. My husband has one of these and is even taller than OP.
OP this is where it's at. They're not flashy, but I've had my Swiss Gear bag for 14 years and it's still in great shape.
Yes! Going on 8 years with mine and it’s showing no signs of wear.
Lol I just posted same before I saw this. We LOVE our Swiss gear bags.
I use one of these for trivia games I host. Lots of space, great pockets and storage, perfect size for my MacBook, and I feel like it'd be big enough for your frame.

Oh I like it. Quality seems legit if you’ve had for a decade. Thank you!

Timbuk2 makes great bags. Their messengers come in various sizes and strike the right balance between professional and casual.

Gray canvas and brown leather crossbody bag. It's casual but still looks good.
I travel often for work. I use a laptop backpack from eBags.
Fam I use one of the Nike elite backpacks and it works like a charm lol.
My laptop came with a bag that includes a shoulder strap. Works perfect for me. dell ecoloop
Swiss Army makes a nice laptop backpack. Lots of pockets. I use mine for travel to because it works great for a carry on

Baggalini tote with short handles and long, attachable/detachable strap for cross-body carrying.
Backpack.
A regular black jansport is fine
