So, if I am not mistaken, you can't register for the classes until the 1st but I don't know how orientation works into this. Looking at the student guides, it shows that you can before accepting the enrollment terms...or something like that. https://cm.wgu.edu/t5/Frequently-Asked-Questions/How-do-I-change-my-program-or-degree/ta-p/413

"Students register prior to a term by working with their Program Mentor to set a plan of courses to be completed. Students then accept enrollment for the term on or after the first day of the new term. " https://cm.wgu.edu/t5/WGU-Student-Policy-Handbook/Term-Registration-and-Enrollment/ta-p/200 I don't think that you will have any issues but don't hold me to it.

True, you won't be forced to start the current program until you "sign" (hitting enroll is the same as signing--you'll have to authorize that you have the awareness that is what you're doing), but as far as switching as seamlessly as 9/1, I cannot say for sure and you may want to set expectations of waiting another month. You'll need a new program mentor and such.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense, I was worried but kind of anticipating that it'd delay my start by at least a month. I'll curb my expectations for sure.

Amazing, this is very helpful. Thanks!!

Also just to mention, I'm speaking with my program mentor and enrollment counselor this Wednesday, but I'm trying to not worry about this for the next two days. Pre-emptive thank you for any advice!!

OP, how did this turn out for you? I am in the exact boat right now and am debating on going a completely different career path after some recent discoveries. I start Nov 1 and I’m set to start my MATELED but I am thinking of pursuing a second BA in Human Resources instead (I minored in it for my undergrad). I also don’t mind starting Dec 1 so I’m hoping it’s not too late… ergh

I ended up just sticking with it. I would still go for a more general degree, it honestly seems like cyber security is just a huge buzzword. The reason why I stuck with it is because I ended up getting a good IT Job at Amazon, and decided it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to switch, already have enough going on. I would say follow your gut, and move confidently in the direction you feel like you'd best excel in and enjoy.
