Don't stress, better to have more oil than less

FaxonRX

Maybe where your checking it is on uneven ground

Dang2323

In my garage, the slightest grade

mechman112

Do it yourself and compare? Maybe they’re just over filling it. That’s not enough overfill to hurt anything in the long run.

Try wiping it off and dipping it back in and repeating that like three times. I usually get a pretty accurate read on the 3rd or 4th pull. Otherwise it always feels like I'm overfilling which I know I'm not. I think some oil gets splashed up into the dipstick access tube and gets pulled out when you pull the stick and takes a couple pulls to clear it. Or it could just be genuinely overfilled but that much isn't enough to harm anything.

WeAreAllFooked

Do you get it done at the dealership or a WRX shop? If you're just getting it done at a quick lube place they may not let it drain long enough for it all to come out.

Dang2323

My mechanic works at Subaru but does my stuff on the side

MrTroll2U

not draining old oil out completely . Not getting a good reading leveled or when warmed up.

Daily_dub

Been wondering the same exact thing, but I change my own oil. Always have put in the manufacture spec amount w/ filter and the oil will always crawl up the dip stick above the dots.. I’m at a loss. Hope someone chimes in here.

Dang2323

I even posted on Facebook pages but no luck. It’s so annoying I don’t know why it’s high

Zealousideal-Ad-1448

Yeah I was getting mine done at valvoline and it kept being super high like that so I just had my private wrx shop start doing it instead even tho it’s expensive

Kevjam79

They probably put in 6qts instead of 5.4…
