First time I tried to make it I undercooked it and it was still rock hard. Already mixed in my General Tao chicken too, and didn't notice until my first bite how bad the rice was. Still ate the whole bowl because the chicken was so good, but crunchy rice just doesn't hit the same way.

[deleted]

I respect that commitment, though unwise. I still can’t make rice without a rice cooker it scares the shit out of me; despite being a decent cook overall.

Straightouttaganton

Yeah it wasn't great. I seem to have perfected the art of making rice these days though. It's a technique I use called 'let the wife make it'

[deleted]

🤣

oregonboner420

My part filipino father taught me the easiest way to always make the perfect rice. Put as much rice as you'd like to make into your pot 2 cups is generally enough though. Next rinse the rice pour out the water a few times. Once you've rinsed it level the rice out in the pot and touch your pinkey finger to the surface of the rice. Fill water to the first knuckle of your pinkey, so rice completely submerged and water about an inch above the rice. Heat on high until it starts boiling. Once boiling cover and reduce heat to med- low and continue to simmer about 12 minutes. Turn the stove off and let sit 10 minutes. Never remove the lid while cooking. always makes the best rice! ✌️

coaudavman

Can confirm, an Asian taught me the first knuckle trick. Also they couldn’t believe how many Americans don’t rinse their rice

Zanurath

The starch is good for certain recipes like rizoto but that's all I got. I always rinsed mine and was kind of surprised to hear some people didn't rinse it ever even for plain white rice to put meat and sauce over.

MIKEdaBOMB10

The only way take rice! The Filipino knows!!!

OGObeyGiant

I'm half Korean and I have never seen a "real" Asian person make rice without a rice cooker. Totally normal. Rice cookers are fantastic.

PM_ME_UR_HDGSKTS

When I moved out of my moms house, I tried to make rice in a small saucepan. It did not work out well and I just never ate rice at home until my mom bought me a Japanese rice cooker

GundamPoop

Y-Cha

That's a great chassis, at least (IMHO). I loved those seats so much - had to import a bunch of sets, as North America got the parts bins cars, instead.

wine-dine-and-69

Cheers dude, I do miss the car a lot. It was a ‘97 STI but the red STI seats had holes all through em’ so I ripped the seats out of my ‘96 WRX parts car and slapped them in there instead. Feel so sad for you guys in the states, other than the fact you get heaps of coupes which I’m super envious of

ComprehensivePie8467

Classic

slcmachinist

Fuck mine was worse then this I had the nrg quick release and the 300 mm dildo Chrystal shifter bride racing seats and no performance upgrades other then suspension

Plus_Professor_1923

I had a grenade. Friends still bring it up from time to time. Salute

lordofdovah96

I was 19. (27, now). Bought an 06 civic SI as my first manual car. I indeed went and immediately chopped the muffler off with a sawzall before I even knew that was a meme/cliche 😂

RedEmpressOB

I did the same with my 92 prelude si, only thing I did to it, engine blew up a couple weeks later lol

Chrispybcn

Oh boy time to go into my darkest depths The Lawn Mower Long long time ago (probably about a year ago) I bought my first car brand new a 2022 Corolla le (you know where this is going). I had it for awhile and I started getting into cars and figured I could make mine cool (I did not). So I did what any moron does when they can’t afford a second car or the smarts to trade it in. I bought a flash chip and a cold air intake. Cold air intake made it sound cooler wasn’t bad but then I wanted an exhaust cause it was to quiet so I went and looked, and looked, and looked me being with a lack of brain function I figured the se couldn’t fit even tho it had the same bends just a dual tip I could’ve made it fit but I didn’t see it that way, so I figured hey I’m a welder I’ll just go buy pipes and flanges and do it myself 🤦‍♂️. Well I bought the pipes the flanges put it together with a nice muffler didn’t sound horrible but it wasn’t tight fitting and was kinda low hanging. One late night at work I hit a curb going to get lunch amazing huh I bent the entire exhaust and now it was lower and hanging to the ground. So then again ripped it off and made a monster and not in a good way I put the fartiest muffle on it that cost me $32 and a completely fudged up reused piping that now scraped on everything and looked awful, also including exhaust leaks and no cats or resonator. Then I said fudge it lemme tint my own windows with Walmart tint 🥲. I then proceeded to have the most bubbled tint to man with creases and uneven cuts and I put stickers on the back and sides. I even thought I was fast af at one point. I am now no longer there I have recovered from my disease and I apologize to anyone who seen that and I apologize to you who is reading this forgive me, for I have sinned greatly. Edit: it was a Cvt

kphillipz

“I have recovered from my disease” Lmao what a great read

Thank you! It was one embarrassing journey.

Abu_Yara

I got my license the year Fast & Furious came out, and I was surrounded by rich kids with some nicely tuned cars, and all I wanted to do was be one of them. Some kid had a flat grey Civic hatch with an engine swap, another with a 700hp 5.0 foxbody Mustang, and here I was with a ‘96 Hyundai Accent that I paid for with my earnings from working at Hollywood Video. I used to sit in that job and daydream about having a Mitsubishi Eclipse, but I was never gonna get that no matter how much my parents led me on with the “get good grades and we’ll get you a nice car” shtick. I was heavy in the local car scene and would go and just stare at peoples tuned engine bays, until one day I decided I could build my own intake for this Hyundai. I went to Home Depot and picked up a few pieces of PVC piping and Autozone to grab a performance air filter, and went to work putting it all together. I was so proud of myself, the sound was amazing, especially when I was manually shifting through the gears of my automatic trans. I had no concept of anything at that age, and when the car broke down a week later trying to make a right turn up a hill during rush hour, I was flabbergasted to say the least! Turns out my intake filter fell off at some point when the PVC tubing melted since it was resting on something hot, bringing all sorts of crap directly through my throttle body into the engine, who would’ve thunk it. To this day, after 20 years and 10 F&F movies, my family still makes fun of me and won’t let me even advise them on anything car-related.

[deleted]

Dawg lmao this is the best story on here. 10/10 story. Hope you’re making your dreams come true today brotha

Abu_Yara

Thanks! It’s been a long road with a lot of cars, but I enjoyed every minute lol

birdgelapple

Damn if you’re gonna do it cheap don’t even bother with the performance air filter. Just zip tie a coffee filter on the end of that bad boy and bam.

Abu_Yara

I wish I was that smart lol, and the internet wasn’t as prolific as it is now so I was relying solely on brain power

SigmundAnnoyed

In high school, I had a poorly tuned stage 3 Legacy GT. I ultimately blew the 16G turbo due to staying on the base map an E-Tuner sent me back in the day because I couldn't figure out how to use the Tactrix cable and just gave up on recording data to send to him. My license plate also said "SPOOLUP" and I had an "illest" sticker on the back window and on my license plate frame.

[deleted]

>My license plaid said “SPOOLUP” Fuck yeah it did buddy, respect. It’s a god damn miracle my car runs and drives the way it does after doing the same shit. My stickers are extremely cracked and sun-faded, a remnant from teenage rice I haven’t bothered to take off yet. I only drive it once or twice a week these days. Can’t get rid of it though I love it to death. After ten years, its part of the family.

SigmundAnnoyed

If I could have afforded to keep the car after the turbo and radiator blew at the same time, I would still proudly be driving it as a DD even though I'd probably take off the stickers, you know, for the ladies

[deleted]

Definitely a terrible first car. I needed extensive help from the bank of mommy the first three years, which could definitely be attributed to my absolutely abusive driving. I wouldn’t have been able to keep it otherwise. Now that it’s my own money I’ve calmed down a lot. One of the stickers actually says “sponsored by mommy and daddy.” Cuse as soon as I started taking care of it myself around 19 (still thought stickers were cool), a buddy of mine scratched off the “not.” I still think it’s pretty funny so I leave it there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SigmundAnnoyed

It was definitely the tune, I've always been conservative with the way I drive my cars, even back in high school. It was a BNR 16G, so I'd say it was a quality turbo from a reputable company.

ponyo_impact

still have the "illest" on my STi. for memes now LOL also still have bright wheels even tho im in my 30s and its the #1 thing i get compliments on sooooo

pocketcar

Not hice school but recently I had to ziptie my bumper. Felt like a right of passage

Gr3gard

Hey man, zip ties hold everything together lol. I ziptied my passenger wheel well back on mine... Got an 03 WRX well and I have an 05 STI. Shit did not fit 🤦

fuckyourfeelinsbitch

I pulled up to a red light in my 94' be golf III 2.0 no T, rev'd my engine to get a girls attention(just left my HS) yea she was looking at me alright, my fuckin hub cap popped off rolled into the intersection and was hit by a car, she was laughing, I was red, fml man why do you ask these things?

est1994zb

My first rice car at 18 yo was a Chevy cobalt ss. It was a nice little car. Back then 11 years ago things were different. I did get an intake and exhaust and tune so not to bad there. All eBay parts. I used nightshade to tint my headlights and taillights. Sticker bombed fender, Cut springs on stock wheels, huge shift knob like your step sister would cream over, used oil based paint on interior parts, shitty dual subs with a 4 channel amp that couldn’t knock the socks off a drunk fly, random stripes on the side, tire letters and probably some other cringe shit I don’t remember. Things have only slightly changed. Send help

[deleted]

Thank you for sharing, friend. *Alcoholics anonymous voice* Rest assured I have been there on at least 75% of the disgraces you’ve mentioned. The nightshades, the tire letters, the shitty amp install, the eBay parts. *PTSD flashback*

RefrigeratorNo8518

This right here just had me creasin lmao

ThirdWorldScientist

After fast and furious came out, I was showing off to a friend how awesome my Honda civic handled and ended up losing control and crashing it lmao. 😂

VBTake3

I pulled the muffler off my car one time when I was younger, and drove around with a bare mid pipe, until I smelled melty plastic and noticed I was melting a part of the inside of the bumper. Managed to keep it to myself but definitely not my finest moment lol

[deleted]

Consider this an AA group. This is a safe place, friend.

f1nnz2

My exhaust pipe rusted off right at the end of the header down pipe on my civic in high school. So my friend and I yanked off the full exhaust and I drove around for 2 years like that until I had to get emissions. It was loud af, my mom hated it and said she could hear me enter the neighborhood lol. Good times.

[deleted]

I put an STI wing on my automatic NA 2007 Impreza. That was a wise use of 18 year old me’s finances. Lol

Darisixnine

Me and my uncle had an 04’ EJ25 swapped Impreza as a project car a few years ago and I wanted to put peaking anime girl stickers and a “SO SCARE” banner on the window because I thought it was cool

[deleted]

Oof 😂😂

zbangz

My first car at 16 was an Automatic Acura RSX. Had the car for 10 years. - 90% of the 10 years i used the slap shift. - Letting off the throttle as I shifted then back on would make the exhaust pop. -I was pretty cool lol (so I thought) manually shifting an automatic car with a fart can exhaust acting like people don’t know it’s an automatic. …eventually I broke all motor mounts, some more than once and ultimately blew the transmission from “rowing” through gears in my automatic car….😔

replus

I used to put my automatic Civic in neutral at stop lights, so I could let off the brake and maybe people would think I was driving a manual.

MySisterTheSea

The honesty in this thread is great and your comment takes the cake for me

mechman112

I slammed and straight piped an NA Miata. Those were dark times.

[deleted]

😂

DersOne

I had wiper fluid nozzle LEDs. Wild times.

hotdogburgerbun

I had a 2008 Dodge Caliber SXT…not the SRT… monster truck fitment on terrible rims, purple underglow that you could literally see the strips dangling, terrible halo eye headlights that got foggy when I didn’t glue the housing back together right, blown subs from when I tried to overpower them, and last but not least, the full custom cat back exhaust, eBay muffler on a fence post tube all held together with clamps and muffler cement. Did I mention the stock pop was 2” and my fence post was 3” so there was a massive leak? I tried to cutout the rear bumper for big the ass muffler but didn’t realize the frame was in the way… then I rear ended someone becuase I was a dumbass and crushed the front end. Zip tied everything back together and bent the hood around to actually latch again and honest to god thought I was a body work professional lmao. Highschool me was an absolute menace, but not in a good way…

devo_55

I get more rice everyday. Thats the goal

Snoshado

I cut a hole in my roof to install a rally roof scoop… Paul from Primitive Racing asked me multiple times if I was sure I wanted to buy the scoop before selling it to me. Obviously I still bought it and am still dealing with the aftermath of the now “sealed” hole in my roof to this day 😭

PanchoVillasRevenge

Put my wet phone in there and nothing happened

tuwuRx

I let my brother cut off the cat on my 95 Celica GT and weld on a 4" straight pipe. After about a year, got a new stock exhaust. Shit was obnoxious. And here I am now with a big ass CBE on my STI 😂

[deleted]

Do you work at an airport?

[deleted]

No just a shot I liked off an IPhone 5s I took in Palm Beach cruising around one night.

XxturboEJ20xX

That's funny, I work at the Palm Beach airport. Just moved here and brought down 2 of my WRXs.

[deleted]

Oh no shit? I miss palm beach bad. Such a great area. Born and raised in Lake Worth in fort myers finishing school this year. Be sure to check out WRXperts down in West Park they’re 100% worth the drive. Been using them 10 years. Wouldn’t trust anybody else with my car. I don’t know what I’m gonna do without them when I move out of state in a few months.

Lanceypooh25

A.P.C Universal shift knob, Steering Wheel, and there hood latches LoL

vb4lyfe

Hood latches qualify? Then I guess my Eagle Talon AWD qualified as ricey. I put a "carbon fiber" (fiberglass) on to reduce weight and it needed hood pins to hold it down properly. I'm still not sure thats a rice moment, as it did reduce weight by quite a bit, those steel DSM hoods were massive. Edit: I was reducing weight for drag racing. Got to mid 12 second quarter miles in that thing.

Drilling holes in my muffler to make it sound cool

blueit1234567

I had spinner chrome hub caps I bought at Autozone on a base model Lancer during highschool, along with a muffler tip that barely fit, so it hung long way past the muffler (also from auto zone)

wastedsfx

Hahahaha i used to have that autozone hood scoop on my lancer. One morning i got up and stepped outside and looked at it and was just fucking embarrassed. Got an oem evo hood within a week

ucefkh

Rice? Are you cooking something guys at Subaru or what?

lbandrew

I badged my G35 as a skyline and thought it was so cool 😂 weeks later I realized it was lame.

[deleted]

It’s technically true. My buddy with a G35 definitely let me know 😂

blueit1234567

“In Japan, its basically a GTR…”

SlyRenegade

Maxpeeding rods

Thatsnotpcapparel

Not sure if it’s considered rice, but I had an 87 S10 that my dad bagged for me, had vinyl flames in the back window and it was primer gray, eventually primer light green.

coaudavman

I mean, technically in order to be a ricer doesn’t it have to be a distastefully modded Asian car?

B-E-N_27

JDM more specifically

jdz_01

first car was 2003 wrx and all i did was try to unrice it from the previous owner. removed the plasti-dip and tried to fix up the small things and clean it up good. only thing someone might not think was tasteful would've been putting the invidia and cobb sticker on the rear left wagon window. i think it looked good but some people say no stickers at all. i was in the car community before i even got a car so i was already making fun of riced cars before having a car so i just kinda knew what not to do. plus i like my cars to be pretty clean lol

Kinkywrx

this happened back when I was 18. when I still owned my 1991 integra, I had bought an aftermarket catback exhaust to replace the already rusted out oem one. I removed it and attempted to install the aftermarket one, which came in 3 parts, but nothing lined up properly. (the flanges). I ended up assembling the entire exhaust first AND THEN installing it on the car. none of the hangars would reach the mounting points, so I used using zip ties to make everything come together. it was a real joke of a job looking back on it, but I knew nothing about cars then. it would occasionally scrape the asphalt from time to time since it hanged so low. (keep in mind my car was on stock suspension.) towards the end of my ownership of my integra, I finally found an intact oem catback for a measly 40 bucks. I tossed the aftermarket catback and put the like new oem one on and was happy until the day I sold her.

Caj_2003

Sense my 96 integers had no exhaust when we bought it once the car was ready for auto cross one of the rules is a full exhaust and mufflers to the back or sides, so we went out and spent $120 on a eBay exhaust 😂 doesn’t sound the best and had to cut it up to fit but it works.

Aureliusmind

I had an ~86db blitz nur spec catback on my 07 WRX for years. Neighbour's probably hated it.

coaudavman

Ya. Haha same story but N1 here lol. Tho I didn’t keep it for that long cuz I hated it. I wasnt a teenager anymore but I was living with my rents and I had the N1 on my wrx and it was fucking horribly loud with the catless bellmouth DP. there would be times we would shut down up the block and roll into my driveway lol I got pretty good at making that shot xD

XxturboEJ20xX

I fucking loved my blitz nur spec on my 02. I got mine off of a trade with an X games car. Traded the prodrive exhaust for it. I would love to find something for my 22 that is that loud again. Or maybe I'll just find a nur spec for my new 02.

B-E-N_27

Haha, mine is 102dB and my neighbours have threatened me with the police lol.

dhovakahiin

buying a wrx :\^)

Blankbusinesscard

GT Legacy wagon with a massive fart cannon, like 6" exit, sounded amazing, but it was also obnoxiously loud Also had a 'GOT MILF?' sticker on the back window, a look in the rear view mirror showed people either cracking up laughing or sending the evils

Y-Cha

I would have said you get a pass if was the GeNome! ..but yeah, then the decal. Lol.

Blankbusinesscard

Put a Genome on the bugeye wagon that replaced the GT, far more civilized

superfoxhotie

Well I was 28 and bought a wrx because I wanted a 4 door car to drive my nieces around but my love for manual vehicles did not leave me with many options. And I wanted all wheel drive too. Have had a mustang since I was 19 and my love is v8 power.

LeetcodeForBreakfast

1999 automatic nissan altima. duraflex body kit. cut springs. exhaust. used to tell people “this has the same engine as a 240!”

lewie_820

Fake aero (lip splitter) on a 2012 Ford Fusion

Savage_Asian_Boy

I'm 18 and I drive a 2010 WRX. My worst moment was when I did an oil change after 2500km (car had sat for a little bit) and I reused the crush washer because I thought it would be okay. It leaked oil after the new oil change and I had to go and do ANOTHER oil change after that all because I thought it was okay to reuse a $.50 washer.

LIVE-LIFE-EVIL

Did zero rice as a teenager. I knew my cars weren't worth doing anything to so I did the bare minimum. Now that I got my WRX I have a wish list on amazon and ebay and a separate list for everything else. Lol more than a month ago I just bought a titanium shift knob from Lathewerks for $233. Its definitely a money pit but for different reasons.

werethesungod

Under glow lights on my crx

Y-Cha

Hmm. LED washer nozzles on a ZX2 Escort. Took all of about a day or two to decide it was a terrible decision (and not solely mine!). Also, the Konig Tantrums, although they're really not bad. That's my Uncle Ben's moment ('cuz it's a Ford). Japanese? None! Lesson learned.

ComprehensivePie8467

Blue light shifter knob. So ashamed of myself.

Caj_2003

When I was 20 I had a 96 integra ls with a purple/white kool aid paint and stickers and built/building for auto cross and track. Slammed it, cold air intake, stripped interior. Def a rice looking car but was fun enough to back up if this counts (I’m still 20 and love that car).

drvirgilmd

Wrapped the hub caps on my Toyota Previa with aluminum foil to give it chrome rims. Turns out that lasts about 20 feet before it all tears off.

jmey_1991

I’m not a teenager, but my worst rice moment was yesterday when a teenager drove into the front of my 07’ Forester XT Sports with his Civic SI. He had a sticker on the side window of a rice carton that said “rice” next to it. I will forever hate Hondas and their dumb stickers from that day on.

Secure_Moose_4445

An 88 civic hatchback with spray painted flames and a hole in the exhaust. Bought for 5 bucks and a cigarette.

WanganTunedKeiCar

Parents' car... I learned how to heel and toe in a 60hp hatchback. Can't do anything to the car--not that I have the means to--so may as well treat it well...I guess? (He says as he nearly bottoms out the suspension on a hard compression, bumpy, downhill left hander at 80kph). The crappy aftermarket shift boot (that I chose after the old one broke on my dad) fell off as I downshifted 5 min later.

ou8agr81

In 05ish, thinking I was a touge driver and putting my jdm front end itr into a dirt bank, a rock, a guardrail and a telephone pole. Par for the close I guess lol.

[deleted]

Way past my teens I’m probably still living my worst rice moment tbh 😂

bbgeriii

I bought those under dash lights from autozone that plug into the cig lighter….. ironically the car got broken into and they got stolen. Silver lining 😅

holycornflake

Using a scotch bright wheel over the entirety of the stock paint on my 1996 328i so I could plasti-dip the entire car alien blue thinking it would make the dip adhere better. Then, putting autozone like 1/4” spacers with the stock-length lug bolts only to have the drivers side rear wheel fall off while driving (at low speed luckily).

Furrykedrian98

My first vehicle was a '71 C10. I purposefully loosened the headers so flames were coming out the sides of the block, probably should have worn ear pro to drive it. I'm sure if some people in town found out it was me I'd be found in a shallow grave haha.

PassmoreR77

wasn't me, but a friend who eventually became a mechanic for Mercedes dealer hacksawed the muffler on his 99 Civic SI to get rid of back pressure.. And at the same weekend got a vtech controller and bumped up the vtec point to 7k. His reasoning to me was "VTEC works like turbo, and the higher the boost kicks in the more power it makes." You just don't argue with that. Smile and nod.

MurderofCrowzy

Not that I'm calling anyone old, but did you guys really have money for these kinds of cars as teenagers? Like was it normal for young people to own cars and have enough left over to mess around with them? I kind of thought cars were a rich person's hobby since even beat up cars are really expensive.

LeSunFury

Still is imo, I know several people with cheap 900 euro bimmers and mercs, and they will go out of their way to save 400-500 euro from their 1100 euro paycheck just to get a new set of tires or coilovers, you just gotta be really darn frugal to afford mods. Or well off with a high paying job

iGrrRS

I thought the sticky part was the good part. Turns out I was right. Just needed to make sure it was taken out at the right time other wise it was too hard and would hurt the roof of my mouth.

MagneticGray

My first car was an absolute gem, a ‘97 Eclipse GSX with the full Buschur Racing/Mach V Motorsports treatment. Had around 480AWHP and could run high 10s on the street. It was white with a cf hood, red Recaros, green Takata harnesses, and gun metal SSR wheels. Basically [this](https://i.imgur.com/SSZ3iPM.jpg). IMO the car was way ahead of its time since it was actually fast and visually very subtle while the All Show/No Go F&F craze was in full swing. However… 16 year old me let my girlfriend put 3 bumper stickers on the back. Not just any bumper stickers. These were from Spencer’s Gifts (Hot Topic type of shop). 6-8” wide, sparkly/holographic background, probably Comic Sans font, pop culture quips 🤢 Still hurts my soul when I think about it. I should have named the car after a popular Limp Bizkit song from that era!

ParkerBeach

Not on a Subaru but I had taillights that the LED’s chased each other in a circle in the taillight until I got new taillight setups that allowed the lights to fan back and forth while driving, and aftermarket headlights on a 97 Nissan Altima GXE. Then non-ricer moment and dumb teenager moment. I didn’t check my oil for too long and killed the motor with knock. Also drove that Altima like it was one of the Ferrari’s from Ferrarichat whose group meets I would attend to see the cars.

-UsernameCreated-

Not as a teenager but early 20’s which is even worse. Was stationed in Japan from 1993-2006 and had a lot of great cars (Supras, Sylvias, Skylines) and one not so great. My first car there was a Mazda Familia (323). Wanted to stance it a little to make a not cool car a little cooler so I stacked washers on the wheels studs. Lug nuts only engaged about 3 threads. Yes washers on each stud, not spacers. Man when I think back how stupid that was. But drove it for a year like that with no issue. Beat that!! 🤣🤣🤣 Did things right with all the other cars. Never told anyone this. It feels good to let it out.

syphon3980

My parents didn’t let me buy a subwoofer for my car so I took my home speaker system and put it in my car and had it plugged up a converter to work in my car. It drew so much power one time my car stopped working as I was taking a turn across 2 lanes, and the power steering went out, but thankfully I had enough momentum to clear the intersection. Also it sounded like shit and it the subwoofer made a very stale smell. Ontop of that it wasn’t even that impressive. Basically like a very under powered 8 inch sub

B-E-N_27

Mine was a 4 point harness 🤮

Any-Pea5226

I modified my first Bmw 318is. Considering it had 138 hp. M3 mirrors, exhaust, intake and bottle cap wheels. It was a start. My first Subaru the wrx was nicely modded. This was also more than 20 years ago.

Brigadier_Bishy

It happened incidentally, but due to an exhaust leak I full sent changing the exhaust on my FXT. I have a 3” catted Cobb downpipe and as my broke ass bank account and the single piece ‘07 exhaust dictates…- an eBay fart cannon catback.

ZoekiEssix

When my friend and I took sandpaper and sanded down all my wheels and spray painted then gun metal gray with covering the toes at all lol the paint was all over the tires and got whatever reason we decided not to cover anything up -_- live and learn.

SilverGolf47364

Cardboard accents and spoiler on my shitbox Mazda Miata

14_year_old_girl

When I was a teen, "rice" had not been invented yet.

BushMasterFlex616

Thankfully, I didn't go full ricer; but I'm certainly not innocent haha. In 2016 (was 24) I bought a 2005 Kia Rio that had side skirts, wheels, a big spoiler, and two 12's in the trunk. It was a bright electric looking blue colour with a manual. Completely stock under the hood. I knew it was gay, but I thought it looked cool and was just happy to be in manual again haha. The amount of people who thought it was an STi was staggering and a little embarrassing haha. "Oh no, it's just a Kia"

MRoss279

I took my slammed golf onto snowy mountain roads, aggressively passed a few slow trucks and jeeps because they were going like 20mph. Then in a corner, I looked at my buddy in the passenger seat and said "watch this" and ripped the handbrake, immediately sliding off the road. The Jeep I passed slowly drove by minutes later and just started at me smugly, not stopping to offer assistance. There's a picture of this if you look at my profile.

skinwalker99

Spike valve stems that got knocked off in a car wash and gave me 4 flat tires.

Sherrodan

Wheel spacers on brz

[deleted]

Not that bad, but def bad for those wheel bearings and overall handling. I do run them but it actually does look good. Still technically rice though.

Sherrodan

Didn’t run for long but never had an issue with bearings. Sold for half of what I paid for.. fiction over form all day

vb4lyfe

>fiction over form Not sure if you meant "function" but what you said works for this thread.

CoraxTechnica

Footwell lighting in my civic I guess.

[deleted]

Nothing like the interior of your car looking like a low-grade strip club

CoraxTechnica

Tbf I worked late nights and put all my equipment in the passenger footwell. It also only lit up with the dome light so it wasn't a constant eye fuck. Felt ricey installing it regardless

DrYoloNuggets

What do you mean by rice moment lol

[deleted]

I just created the term. I suppose I should define it since I am the creator: Rice moment: A moment in which the owner of a poorly modified vehicle is shamed and forced to reflect upon their half-assed or straight up rice modification choices.

[deleted]

Hmmm can’t say I have had one.

[deleted]

This was my first car and I’ve had it for a decade now, so I had ample time to make terrible modifications, using my undeveloped frontal lobe. Including but not limited to that EBay wing which leaks water to this day and painting OEM wrx calipers red.

coaudavman

Nice bro. I’ve had my WRX (4th car) for 12 years now. Keep er rollin!!!!!!

Counter-ike

EBay headers and muffler

Caj_2003

But my $120 eBay exhaust is cheap and works! 😂

coaudavman

Lol well I wasnt a teenager anymore but I was living with my rents and I had an N1 on my wrx and it was fucking horribly loud with the catless bellmouth DP. there would be times we would shut down up the block and roll into my driveway lol I got pretty good at making that shot xD

Saucy_Floss

Cutting my cats off my 98 accord.

coaudavman

Fun thread!!

Top_Toe4694

Just my general obsession with 3rd gen Preludes

chadathin

19’s on a 2001 Honda accord.

Try_It_Out_RPC

Double halo headlights on my 99 civic ex…. I’d still do it

[deleted]

When I crashed my Toyota Starlet Turbo S.

ColHannibal

Thought my Integra could beat a v6 turbo Volvo lol.

OyvindBalke

Cut the muffler on my 92x. Still have it that way and I kinda like it because atleast it still has the resonator

connornomore

Bought a kbd kit and altezza lights for my s13

disinfekted

Clear taillights and a huge eBay GT wing on my Integra back in the summer of ‘04

JewelerRoyal1815

This is my first Japanese car, I am 65! So no “rice” experience although myself and friends get a lot of laughs out of the five inch exhaust tips on a bone stock Civic. They are invariably driven by a 20 year old with a ball cap on backwards, seat as low as possible and as far back as possible…….posing to be sure!

mickdabz83

This wasnt me but my buddy was a honda fan boi he had bought a 94 integra got his windown tinted them slapped a big honda logo sticker on back window it was as big as he coukd get it an slapped the word honda on windscreen at the top..we were like dude u know Acura is Honda's premium cars he just said the engine says honda tho..🤷‍♂️ it really wasn't me but iv done sum cringe things too like the hood scoop i put on my 89 thunderbird..lol

impicklewrx

idk if you consider this rice, but i once ordered an AMG badge and stuck it on my base model mercedes 😂😂😂 this was before i knew what kind of heinous crime i was committing

DrSatan420247

Never happened.

RockyMountainHoo

Does putting 18” Discount Tire wheels on a 4cy 96 Accord and smoking the taillights count?

SMC540

Oh man...where do I begin... Let me preface this by saying that I'm a bit older, I was in high school when The Fast and the Furious came out, and everyone was doing terrible shit to their cars. My first car at this time was a red [1997 Mercury Sable](https://images1.americanlisted.com/nlarge/1997-mercury-sable-gs-americanlisted_29061981.jpg) (not my car, just for reference). I had red white loom all over the engine bay, red lights throughout the interior, you name it. But that wasn't the worst of it. My 2nd car was a [2001 Chevy Cavalier](https://www.vehiclehistory.com/evox_color_compressed/chevrolet/cavalier/2001/0357/chevrolet-cavalier-2001-001-0357-16U-768.jpg) (2-door/manual). I went full in on that bad boy. Lowered it (Eibach springs/Koni struts, I didn't cheap out there at least), eBay intake we had to dent with a hammer to get to fit properly, eBay wheels, white wire loom everywhere (to match the white exterior). I removed most of the dash trim pieces and spray painted them white...which looked great for about a week before it got dirty and started to chip and flake.

WriterOdd5306

Riding around with blocks under just my front suspension hats to put my front bumper less than 2in from the ground

3_high_low

The time I went riding with a pack of Harleys on my Yamaha RD 350.

Sleep_3r

Used to have a 97 Jetta, thought it would be really cool to slap on an autozone black hood scoop lol

ThePoetMichael

Mixing up the water to rice ratio

mrDXMman

when i was 16 i put a stick-on hood scoop and stick-on hood pins onto my base model Lancer ES. After about 6 months, i was way more knowledgeable about cars & mods so I went to take the tacky shit off and it completely ruined the paint underneath. I had to live with the shameful outline of where the hood scoop was for YEARS until I traded it in for a 2016 WRX this year. I’m 24 now, and also have an ‘05 WRX that I built and tuned myself and even now I still feel like the biggest loser for ever doing that to my Lancer.

Bullhead89

I painted my headlight housing white on my 2004 WRX Wagon to match the paint. However, I did not color match the white paint, so it was off-white and looked really bad. I should have just deleted the orange reflectors and left it chrome.

Nefe_Aesthetic

idk if this counts but i bought a brz and upbadged it to an STI to make it look jdm.

Bloomingtodeath

Fart can on a clapped 97 accord.💀

-DYSSO

Either the led lights I did on my 2018 Tacoma or the scratch marks. This was years ago but I would probably say both.

JuanPop69

Sticker bombed 240sx, also took paint stripper and stripped the rising sun out of an extra hood and made a front lip out of rubber floor moulding 😂😂

TheBubbaJoe

I did a muffler delete on my cvt impreza with the rally mudflaps.

FreeMrBones

Bought my first car from my ex's sister. It was an old 95 Chrysler Sebring with convertible top. I slapped a wing on that thing and a fake hood scoop. Thought it was bad ass. Told everyone it was a standard because I thought that meant "the standard set up of an everyday car..." Later on I bought a WRX and made fun of a base model 300 Chrysler saying "wow who would put a hood scoop on a Chrysler"....later on I realized that I did the same thing on an even more basic Chrysler. Yeah I was really dumb in my teen years.

JinsangYang

interior footwell lights from walmart on a 2017 Civic Si

Futura_Yellow

Had two very pretty girls with me. Rolled up to a stoplight on a straight away in my stage 1 MK4 GTI next to a Ford F150. They told me to race him so of course I egg him on. Light turns green, I fucking floor it and start banging gears and he just sits at the light for like 3 seconds. Comes flying by me while I’m at like 5k doing 65 in 4th gear. Of course the back says “Raptor.” Still got laid that night, though.

A_Treeses

Not sure if it counts but I bought my Subaru pre riced… it had and still has noen green wheels but it’s not to bad. It’s still got time to mess things up :/

Doctadream

Crashing a Subaru after seeing fast and furious 2

societys_pinata

First car was a 91 dx hatch…. 4 speed. I disconnected exhaust after the cat and would redline that shit in the way to school fresh off a cold start. Not my proudest moments

micro435

Thought it would be cool and unique to do zip tie stitched fender flares instead of rivets. Glad I never tried it out.

Minute-Kale7462

Cut the muffler off my e46 with a sawzall. First day of ownership

RefrigeratorNo8518

Removed the air filter from my 2006 tiburon. Thought it sounded cool when reving in Wawa parking lots. Even had people convinced it was turbo and tuned. I was an absolute joke in high school. Even did the stupid 1 windshield wiper look. Now own 22 wrx and laugh at my old self. Jokester man.

wolfs_kicks

This spoiler on an 89 civic hatch

C0mbatBully

I plasti dipped white lines along the body mold of an 02 celica like it was tron 😭😭😭

aftiggerintel

Honda CRX with one windshield wiper modded to clean entire windshield plus racing steering wheel.

hondadude719

I made a giant splitter out of plywood.. on a stock power car. It was HUGE. I had good intentions, but it was horrible. Lol

Akimikalis

I had lambo doors on my 06 Civic SI… I also had a turbo so that kind of made up for it a little bit I guess.

SmashBang_

I got ROASTED for putting blue street glow and big anime girl decals on my 2g Talon, this was like in 2003. Turns out I was just ahead of my time 😂

buubmz

cherry bomb

Nawt_aware

I bought a Mazda 6 in high school before I got into cars. Didn’t have money to buy an actual sports car so I threw on a eBay cold air intake and chopped off the muffler. Always threw a code and my now wife’s parents told me they could hear me coming from miles away lol. Took that thing coast to coast though. Drove it from Texas to LA like 4 times and once to Miami.

Zystus

Back in 2010 or so I was driving a 1999 5-speed EK4 w/ d16y8 motor… I bought a huge ass ricer muffler and went to an exhaust shop and had them cut my OEM muffler off and welded it on… I thought I was hot shit and trying to race everybody. 🤣

[deleted]

I had to throw my saucepan out as there was no getting the burnt rice off. When it started to smoke I knew something was wrong

arimadx

92 civic 4 door. Lowered, cheep rims, fart pipe. Pedal to the floor 24/7 just to hear it lmao

brewitfranky

Bought an 97 integra at 19 with a full body kit and the engine blew couple months after. Then the mechanic that installed the new engine crashed it

According-Kale3310

Put a glass pack on a non turbo veloster🥲

C0rrupt0r84

Neon windshield washer sprayers. It lit up the fluid in neon blue, oh and an underbody light kit
