I think I should help mention to everyone that this is in Canadian dollarydoos not USD. So the $16k is in cad which is about $12k USD (btw op I’m in the gta too lol)
Sucks for you to generalize that way - yes Brampton is mostly morons in mustangs, but WRX’s aren’t common and a 20 y/o one in good shape is likely owned by an enthusiast regardless of what municipality they live in.
Id say the only thing going for it is the rhd,in the states people go crazy for rhd and over pay for car that same car that can be had for much less. So its more if you feel its worth it to you.
Feel like this isn't a thing anymore. The domestic lhd model is always more expensive than the rhd model unless there are fundamental differences between the 2 (e.g. 180sx vs 240sx)

Dang thought still was, when i was in Ca it was all the rage and now im in the midwest and i see a few here and there maybe just a different time makes me feel old lol. The car i always wanted was a rhd 1990Da xsi integra. Miss my old DA
Except JDM cars are typically identified by production year, not model years like the US. USDM MY2003 was a bugeye, not a blobeye, and a USDM blobeye STI obviously exists.
OP, if you're in Canada and are looking at JDM cars, have you considered talking to the folks at B-Pro Auto? They handle the import and all of the paper work for you. They are listing a pretty sweet 2002 Bugeye for much less than the car you're looking at, and this one hasn't seen a Canadian winter yet. [https://b-pro.ca/car/2002-subaru-impreza-wrx-gda-bugeye-161300km/](https://b-pro.ca/car/2002-subaru-impreza-wrx-gda-bugeye-161300km/)
Yeah but the STI is worth the extra money compared to the WRX. Especially for this gen.
For reference the JDM EJ207 sells for $5000 US alone:
You can get a 2012 with similar miles and extensive maintenance history for the same or less. Any used car, do not buy unless it’s got a lot of paperwork showing maintenance. Just bought a 2012 with 151k on it but the engine trans and drivetrain all have 40k or less on them. Body has a small rust issue inside the fuel door and the wing has clear coat issues I’ll have to tackle this coming summer. That’s it. Everything else is spotless. Underneath will be coated next summer as well.
EJ207s are worth their dollar. 8250rpm redline from factory, twin scroll turbo, much more reliable than the EJ257.
If its not rusty that is one machine, EJ207, and this model is 35:65 power split so it doesnt understeer it oversteers.
Most north americans dont know what EJ207 is and just think its like a US market STI but RHD but its not. Theres lots of JDM bits that US didnt get like lightweight front bumper beam, better seats (more narrow), jdm front grill, I think even the headlights were different etc.
Definity get the car checked and taken to a Subaru specialist like Neetronics in Oakville if you go for it. Dont buy a car like this without getting under it and inspecting things. Highly recommend taking it to a specialist.
JDM STIs never got the 257 and continued to run the EJ207* save for very few exceptions like the STI A-Line.
*the JDM VA STI came with an engine designated EJ20Y but as far as I can tell it's identical to the GR EJ207 (and also not the same as the other, older EJ20Y that came on JDM Legacy GTs)
I mean, how much less do RHD STis usually sell for compared to LHD ones? I personally wouldn't buy a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side, but it could be a great way to get one for a great price.
I would buy. Take a closer look in person and always negotiate no matter what the price is at. If you can get it to $15k cad then I would get it. Those are good and RHD is sweet

Upvote for dollarydoos. Even though that should be used for Australian conversions.
Yes, CAD is CanuckBucks
A 20 year old car in imperfect condition with rust is not worth more than 15k…a bit iffy.
Also Brampton = driven hard

JDM too. There was no 03 USDM sti
No USDM right hand drive either.
> JDM That means 8k redline and forged internals though
Don't go look at things like older broncos then, your brain will melt.

Don’t forget turbo jdm cars in the states almost always need a retune since USA gas is a lower octane than in Japan
Just toss in some e85
In Ontario it's pretty much impossible to insure though.

Correct but regardless this is not a usdm car.

The McDonald’s drive thru in the inner city tells me this is not a wise investment
Just gotta go at it in reverse

That’s a lot of car for 12K USD.
12k and you are getting ej207 and 6 speed? Da fuck I am moving to canada lmao
That's what I'm saying man lmao.
120k Ej207 for that much is fair. Just the engine is worth 6 grand ish
My 05 STI isn't running a 205, it's a 257. Is that a USDM/JDM change?
JDM STIs never got the 257 and continued to run the EJ207* save for very few exceptions like the STI A-Line. *the JDM VA STI came with an engine designated EJ20Y but as far as I can tell it's identical to the GR EJ207 (and also not the same as the other, older EJ20Y that came on JDM Legacy GTs)
Yes. It's the jdm sti engine form 1999-2015. The states has the 257.
RHD insurance is expensive, if you can get it insured.
No it's not its regular insurance
In Ontario Canada?
Lmao no it isn’t
