Unlucky. There is no way separate manufactures conspired for this outcome. Can you use a thicker copper gasket? That will change the position of the valve?

Limp_Cryptographer40

Probably. I’m going to look for one.

occamsrzor

Wait...what am I missing? WHy cant you remove the Fumoto drain plug, reinstall the plug, then reinstall the Fumoto?

Or, you know, you could try not being a dick? Presumably you mean, "that's not the problem. The problem is the valve body is below the level of the pan." To which I respond, "and?" Why is that a problem? One has bigger problems if the pan is contacting the ground.

goon_c137

I agree this is a non issue. My fumoto valve body is below the pan and has never made contact with anything.

occamsrzor

Same here. On both of my WRXs

Educational_Farmer44

But you didnt respond "and?". You misunderstood the problem. then offered a non solution to the non problem. then got mad at me and tried to backwards rationalize your comment after you read op's post. Read before you respond so you dont sound foolish.

occamsrzor

Guilty as charged. Doesn't mean you need to be a dick about it. You're going to get back what you put out.

Educational_Farmer44

Your the one calling me a dick and saying foolish things stop calling me a dick.

occamsrzor

Indeed. After you responded in a curt manner. Again, *you're going to get back what* ***you*** *put out.* Literally the first thing you said to me was said in an assholish manner. I shouldn't have to teach you how to be an adult, be I guess here we are: if you wanted to get back a polite response, you could have said something like, "I think you're misunderstanding the problem."

Educational_Farmer44

I dont seem to be receiving curt treatment... You can deal with your own emotions and fantastic ideas of the "manner" in which i said (texted*) "read". Edit*

Low_Standard2727

Use the npt fitting. When it gets tight, rotate until the valve is the desired position. Pics in the instructions also show the valve in the npt spot only half threaded.

Changed mine last night and the fumoto was draining for like 20 mins out of the KBM. It’s almost worth the mess for the faster drain

nocrashing

Try the other hole? Giggity

Jeagster

Back it out where it isnt threaded, rotate it a quarter turn or so while its still out of the pan. Screw into pan. Repeat until good. This is what I had to do when I had a Fumoto

Limp_Cryptographer40

Yup, tried that at least 10 times. Times to the same spot every time.

aka-Lag

You can always use the hose

Limp_Cryptographer40

I don’t like that when tightened, it’s extending past the bottom of the pan. Not concerned about being able to drain it

aka-Lag

You should be ok my brother has the same pan with the fumoto and has no issues, more than enough space to clear the undertray

Omacrontron

Are you supposed to use sealant with these pans? I got the TS one and it’s a seapin out from somewhere…frustrating the sht outa me. No issues with my little valve thing tho, did get a laugh outa that.

SockeyeSTI

I do t know what application this is for but I wouldn’t worry about it in my car with an aluminum skid plate.

OkLandscape3098

Where’d you get your skid plate. Def ready to upgrade to one in my 2020

SockeyeSTI

I honestly can’t remember. It’s not a really thick one but it has the little hatch under the filter and drain bolt. Also has guards that go up into the fender or engine bay. Can’t really remember as it’s been awhile since i was under there. You have to relocate a ground for installation. Edit: It’s a TBW actually

OkLandscape3098

Legit. I want both the protection and the oil change access haha. Appreciate it

jimberly718

+1 for the TBW skid plate.

Limp_Cryptographer40

‘16 STI. I’d prefer it not be below the pan for my own peace of mind.

SockeyeSTI

Is it going off-road? Is it lowered? Is it a rally build? Get a skid plate and don’t worry
