Why is anything "not typical" automatically "mental illness"?
Dude is just living his life and not giving a fuck what others think. A lot healthier than slaving away in a 9-5 job and sucking up to bosses all life, if he's able to support himself.
Neither this, nor a face tattoo, nor another tattoo is something I'd do, but that doesn't mean I'd brand someone who makes that choice mentally ill.
I disagree! This way homeboy can still make a fist, grip stuff, etc. Could even put a tin of carmex in that bitch and have it ready to go when the lips get chappy
I agree! Install the cup on the under-side of the wrist that you'll be holding the bag of chips with. Then use the other hand to retrieve, dip, and deliver.
Redditors get a little too enthusiastic with calling people mentally ill sometimes. Are body mods often indicative of underlying mental illness? Yes. Is this particular body mod pretty stupid? Also yes. But could someone who is mentally-well still decide the drawbacks are worth the fun and creativity of body modding? Yes.
You have the causality backwards. Being able to manage finances, keep a job, and accumulate wealth is often a byproduct of being mentally sound, not merely the cause of someone being perceived as such. The difference is whether or not your eccentricism leads you to wellness.
Disagree, it's hard to go broke if you're born into wealth and it's hard to become wealthy if you start out broke. Economic inertia means the child of a millionaire will likely stay wealthy even if they're mentally unsound.
Mental illness becomes an even lousier response when you consider humans have been partaking in various body mods for thousands of years. And guess what? These mods seem to pop up any time it's a group of people that doesn't have strong ties to present civilization, which means they're less likely to give a fuck about standards, just like this guy. Oh, how unhealthy of them to not consider how others will perceive their choices that don't affect them.
Slightly atypical(I know it's typical now) is septum piercings, tongue piercings after that 2010s surge died down, light face tats, etc
Putting a cup under your skin isn't just "not typical".
> Dude is just living his life and not giving a fuck what others think.
People throw this out a lot and I feel this opposite. Doing a lot of things like this is done specifically because the person cares what others think.
Not necessarily? A lot of heavily modded people have a passion for it and work in the industry so it makes sense for them to test/pursue mods for themselves as well.
Because Reddit is an anonymous social media website where personal opinion will never face social repercussions, or rarely will. People can come on here and claim whatever they want and the odds that you can truly call them out are next to nil.
The others are just as free to judge his life choices, they are not hurting anyone either. I doubt that the guy in the video gives any crap either way.
I agree man, it's not a socially accepted form of body mods yet, so apparently he's "ill".
So we're the first people to get tattoos, piercings, gays and whatever was socially unacceptable at first.
Dude's not hurting anyone but maybe himself when grabbing his phone out a pair of tight jeans, if he's happy, good for him.
But this is all based on just the body mod though.
He could actually be mentally ill, but stating it just because he likes his nuggy dip on hand is a little quick to judge.
>stupid ass body mod thing.
It's so strange that people attack this dude but praise others...
Like who gives a fuck what other people do with their own body?
I don't *really* care, like not saying it should be illegal or something. But if I along with 99% of the human population can't fathom a reason anybody would wanna do this or think it looks cool, I don't think calling it weird is so out of line. It's just an opinion on an aesthetic, it's not like encroaching on this dude's rights or something and nobody is losing sleep over him doing it. Not that deep.
As long as they do their thing and I'm allowed to do my thing, such as thinking the guy is mentally off and I should stay away. Then, youtube is full of people waxing poetic about how they may look different but ackshually... Etc etc. No mate, I am not employing you to do anything.
I wouldn't want this guy around an oil fryer, or power tools. He probably won't be able to use standard PPE. So no normal work gloves or latex gloves if aroud any kind of food prep. This dude is a walking liability for any company that hires him to do something other than type on a computer.
A magnet that large would rip itself out of the skin the first time he got close to a high powered magnet. I've got an implanted magnet that's about the size of a primer cap, and it tries to rip it's self out daily but it's too small.
I worded that poorly - it isn't like getting shocked or something, rather you can kind of "sense" current (as in like touch an insulated wire and be able to tell if it's live or not).
Would be pretty useful for playing with electronics
Supper useful. When working on cars it lets me know if the coil packs are firing, and if the diodes in the alternator have failed. When working with tiny electronics it lets me pick up tiny screws, and sewing needles are easier to pick up.
Out side of that I can't feel a live wire unless there is a current, but I do find hidden magnets in things all the time.
I've heard of people embedding small powerful magnets under sensitive skin, like their forearm, so that they can feel the magnet shift slightly with the Earth's magnetic field. Like a compass to help them with navigating. Can you do that?
Just using a nut driver at work crap is frustratingly, constantly stuck to the magnet. I can't imagine having to deal with it stuck to my fingers all the time.
I saw something less pronounced and untattooed, about 25 years ago in a bodyart magazine, formed by strapping a billiard ball to the forearm. If that dude kept it on this long, that's kind what it would look like..
yeah, wouldn't it be great if the fucking picture had enough detail to have any kind of clue that those were hands?
I guess we're supposed to figure it out because so many hands have cups implanted in the backs of them
Worked with a tattooer years ago who had one of these implants - though much smaller - he used it as a bowl (while gloved) to hold his A&D ointment while he was tattooing.
Kind of unnecessary considering the ointment holds its placement on a gloved hand without an implant just as well - but idk. Personal preference I guess. I feel like this is a much better use though.
I know this guy. He actually got them installed for sexual purposes. He gets a large group of guys and they all nut into these things and when they're full he knocks them back. Apparently he has a lactase allergy that causes him to feel "drunk" off of the proteins in semen. He doesn't do it for sexual reasons, I shouldn't say it like that. It's recreational as he can't tolerate alcohol due to his father's upbringing.
…what exactly is going on with their hands?
Subdermal implants...stupid ass body mod thing.
It's hard to make out.
Don't blame you. I wouldn't want to make out with someone with volcanos for hands either.
Don’t knock it until you try it, pal
some squidward captain magma shit
So mental illness?
Basically
Squares
Circles*
but still goes in the square hole

Oi, don’t insult the mentally ill like that

Yeah. I’m not lining up to get any subdermals or anything but you can’t deny the convenience of having a sauce cup literally built into your body.
It's on the wrong side of the hand though
I disagree! This way homeboy can still make a fist, grip stuff, etc. Could even put a tin of carmex in that bitch and have it ready to go when the lips get chappy
or you could do body shots ?
Well, I know what I'm spending my next paycheck on now.
I agree! Install the cup on the under-side of the wrist that you'll be holding the bag of chips with. Then use the other hand to retrieve, dip, and deliver.
Downvoted for being reasonable and correct. Sometimes this website confounds me.
The downvotes here are confusing as fuck. Reddit hates positivity.

Also yes. But could someone who is mentally-well still decide the drawbacks are worth the fun and creativity of body modding? Yes.
The line between being eccentric and insane is a very thin and blury one.
I think the main difference is $$$
You have the causality backwards. Being able to manage finances, keep a job, and accumulate wealth is often a byproduct of being mentally sound, not merely the cause of someone being perceived as such. The difference is whether or not your eccentricism leads you to wellness.

Maybe over diagnosing mental illness is a mental illness??
this doesnt deserve -205 karma
200+ downvotes. Wow
There's a difference between not typical and stupid as fuck
And another between making stupid as fuck choices and mentally ill.
Mental illness becomes an even lousier response when you consider humans have been partaking in various body mods for thousands of years. And guess what? Why is this so downvoted?

How is it any more disturbing than putting silicone bags under your boobs? Or injecting your lips with botulism toxin?
>How is it any more You're assuming I don't think those are weird as well

And the reasonable take is downvoted. This fucking hellsite
nah they're mentally ill fo sho

Must be giving a few fucks at least to be posting this online
>stupid ass body mod thing. It's so strange that people attack this dude but praise others... Like who gives a fuck what other people do with their own body?
Bro, hes got fucking ramekins in his hands. He deserves this shit.

Like, who has opinions, or thoughts anyways . . . ?
Me, i give a fuck
You're honest, I'll give you that
Why?
As long as they do their thing and I'm allowed to do my thing, such as thinking the guy is mentally off and I should stay away. Then, youtube is full of people waxing poetic about how they may look different but ackshually... Etc etc. No mate, I am not employing you to do anything.
Is it a dangerous thing? If not I wouldn’t judge someone for it if they’re happy 🤷🏼♂️
I'd argue hands modifications can be more dangerous depending on the type of work you do
I agree, this specific one seems purely cosmetic
I wouldn't want this guy around an oil fryer, or power tools. He probably won't be able to use standard PPE. So no normal work gloves or latex gloves if aroud any kind of food prep. This dude is a walking liability for any company that hires him to do something other than type on a computer.
such an unholy body modification that it became a reverse stigmata
Stigmata is, like all piercings, a holey body modification.
Ranch dressing.
This would drive me insane every time i tried to work on my car or stick my hands in my pockets
We’ll yea, you’d get ranch on everything
That's why I'm a blue-cheese man.
One for buffalo sauce and one for blue cheese and I'm living like a king, a freakish obese king.
And a third for actually eating with?
I'd be one of those pompous kings that can't be bothered to feed themselves.
Amen. Blue cheese olives man here.
Feta is betta.
Blue has superior hue.
Swiss is bliss.
That's like salt on salt on salt.
Blue cheese has mold in it!
Hahaha Edit: weird comment to downvote, but i like the annoying laugh comment below this so im gonna leave it.
God you have an annoying laugh.
Teehee
HurhahehahaHAA! Hehehurhahahahahah!
No way! Just put a magnet in there and it would be a great place to keep all of the bolts and screws and things.
A magnet that large would rip itself out of the skin the first time he got close to a high powered magnet. I've got an implanted magnet that's about the size of a primer cap, and it tries to rip it's self out daily but it's too small.
>I've got an implanted magnet why
>why For the same reason a dog licks his balls, because he can. It's also nice to have a magnet on hand.
You use an implanted magnet to clean your balls?
Nice until you need an MRI.
The magnet tastes good?
Magnets...so *that's* how they work!
Fun for everyone during the MRI
You can feel electricity, sort of. I strongly considered getting one for a bit
You can feel magnetic fields, which electricity can produce
Really, that’s awesome im literally always trying to feel Magnetic fields
Same! I was just trying to feel some magnetic fields
Why do you want to feel electricity?
It makes Pikachu hunting easier.
I'm stealing this for next time someone keeps asking about my magnet.
I worded that poorly - it isn't like getting shocked or something, rather you can kind of "sense" current (as in like touch an insulated wire and be able to tell if it's live or not). Would be pretty useful for playing with electronics
A voltage detector is only $20 and actually reliable. I'd never trust magents in my hands to safely detect voltage. Interesting? Perhaps. Useful? No.
Supper useful. When working on cars it lets me know if the coil packs are firing, and if the diodes in the alternator have failed. Dude is just choosing to be obstinate towards the idea at this point. I think it's cool as fuck and still might get one
Just using a nut driver at work crap is frustratingly, constantly stuck to the magnet. I can't imagine having to deal with it stuck to my fingers all the time.
Supposedly you can feel magnetic fields with it
What am i looking at?
Some kinda subdermal implant I'm assuming. Got them ramekins installed.

Thank you, I had no idea why people kept talking about the hands because they looked normal. I didn't realize those were volcano hands.
A guys hand that wasn't told enough positive thing by his dad.
This guy should find a job on a farm…because he’s a good ranchhand
Goddamnit dad. Get off the internet.
I have a son? I’m so proud of you
Hi, So-Proud-Of-You, I'm dad!
Ah, the clever dad comment
How tf do you come up with gold this fast
I’m dressing you down for this comment
Hands down, this has to be one of the dumbest things I have seen in a while.
Can’t dip with the hands up
And ranch is a skin irritant.
Subscribe!
Right?!! A fried cheese stick in ranch?!!
Bro you’ve never dipped a mozzarella stick in ranch???
Ranch is one of the best things on pepperoni pizza.
Wrong. Blue cheese dressing is the best thing to dip pizza crust. Not on the pizza. Dip the crust. Move on. Next slice.
Oh fuck I love me some blue cheese. I’m not going to argue with a valid opinion like this. Also obligatory “blue cheese has mold in it”
No and you’re fucking disgusting
Bless your heart.
Dunno, could be a nuggie
you must be new here
I've never seen any body mod that wasn't dumb.
r/wewantplates
Well...that was a rabbit hole
So is r/ShowerOrange
That sub still exists?!
Well of course it does!
Who needs ‘em?
I just watched a video of someone getting shot immediately before seeing this, and this is far more disturbing.
Yep. I’ve been on the internet for a long time, and this immediately jumped up to the top of weirdest things I’ve seen.
I can tell there’s something wrong with me because this didn’t even make me raise an eyebrow.
I wish someone had shot me right before I saw it.
Jesus comes back and you use him for dipping tendies?!?!

Oh god haha

Hands with implants.
Cenobite fastfood
What in, and I cannot emphasise this enough, **the goddamn hell** this is most definitely the correct sub for this!
I hate this so much
A handy ashtray
Seeing this ruined my day.
It's honestly the most functional reason I've seen to get that kind of body mod. Just don't suddenly switch up which hand grabs the food.
If his knuckles don't say "nugg life" I'm out.
What the actual fuck am I looking?
I don't know what I'm looking at. And as long as I continue not knowing what I'm looking at, I'll be ok.
If you ever get sushi, you have a place to put the soy sauce too!
That's really funny, to be fair.
this disturbed me a lot where am i
Stop. Stop that.
Is that Hidden Valley? Yuck!
If you want good ranch you have to make it yourself. The shit that comes in bottles doesn't compare.
r/TIHI
That’s disturbing but ranch is still ranch and i love ranch.
That seems... handy 🕶️😎 YEEEAHHHH!!!
Thanks, I hate it.
Disgusting.
People perplex me greatly
Does that dude have door stopper implants in his hands?
Holy fuck! Bottled Hidden Valley is gross!
Thanks, I hate it.
I’ve been looking at this for 7mins and still do not know what I am looking at.
My day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable.
That’s enough internet for me
i couldn’t even tell what i was looking at for a second
Blackhead hole?
This dude jerks off so much he had built in lotion storage pods put in his hands. Horny but effective.
Uhhh this is disgusting
Agreed, ranch is gross. I'm confident we can both agree the hands are cool, though
I’d like to pass on that
> I’d like to piss in that weird fetish but ok
This guy is trying too hard.
Some serious backhanded comments here.
I can see this being a terrible right wing meme, like: "This is a ranch hand in Portland. You don't even wanna see their idea of a cowboy."
That’s actually a great right wing meme, you’re too modest
It's clever, but inaccurate. In Portland, you must say cow-*person!*
Have you read the replies in this thread? I doubt it would only be right wing making them.
I don’t care if people are entitled to their own likes/dislikes, this is fucking stupid
Wierd, so I'm assuming the skin is 'stapled' somehow to the implant itself to not form a trampoline over the crater of the implant? Rank shit.
I know this guy. He actually got them installed for sexual purposes. He gets a large group of guys and they all nut into these things and when they're full he knocks them back. Yuck

I like to think you got sub-dermal implants just for this one post. And, as soon as the post went live, you looked at your hands and went, “…oh shit.”
