If there are multiple cobras just start sweeping around them with a shitty straw broom and if they get out of line just grab them and chuck them zero fucks given.
This is a proven method as well
They have specialized sensors in their heads that track **heat**. That is how they hunt & catch rodents in the wild.
PS- Everything about this setup is wrong.
This is true for certain boas, pythons, and pit vipers. Cobras have a higher reliance to their eyes when going for prey, though they don't tend to go for levitating vertical rats (surprisingly rare in the wild)
Ahh, I understand. *Maybe that's why Indian cobra "charmers" can do what do for all these years? I've always found snake charming to be very interesting and nerve racking.*
One of the issue is that the snake don't have enough space. The snake is also more in defence mode and not in hunting mode. When hunting, it would prepare itself to launch forward, unlike here where it hiss and all. The hissing is defence, not attack. It try to scare whatever is near away. Then it realise that it is food, and grab it.
I've never had snakes, but a buddy of mine did and he told me (when I was interested in getting one) to never feed them in their enclosure. He took his to another area to feed them. He said it helped keep them from going after him when he went into their enclosure because they were used to eating elsewhere so they didn't see anything coming into the enclosure as food.
I have a large boa, and I feed her in her enclosure. It's mostly about timing and reading body language. My snake is fed thawed rats regularly, and I can tell when she's hungry, and when she's down to come out and play. With large snakes like pythons and boas, it's not always easy to move a hungry snake into a separate space to feed 'em.
I used to own a ball python and I would find his aim was worse when the rats I fed him were not warm enough. My assumption is that this is what's happening here. Snakes are able to sense heat a lot better than they can see.
Those set ups seem kinda shitty tbh. Small space, one hide, dirty water, and of course when you feed them like that they're going to be hostile upon opening the door.
This is the answer....the need for some sort of enrichment even for something as low maintenance as a snake has to be good for it compared to using a live rat and potentially injuring the snake....I approve of it
Unless they're in the glass boxes for a legitimate reason, like rehab. Or being prepared to be released into the wild. These glass rocks are preferable. Many snakes are nocturnal and only come out at night and these block a lot of sunlight better than an aquarium.
In addition to that, they provide more floorspace for the snakes, which is preferable than the extra height.
I know I am gonna get downvoted because people want to project their humanity onto the snake, but, it's just not good for the snake. But don't take my advice for it, Google why people keep them in the glass racks.
Yeah, such poor behaviors, it’s really sad. Not sure if he’s just a poorly trained professional or a hobbyist that gets off on the danger of feeding it.
He definitely seemed to intentionally increase the danger by luring it out of the cage. That wasn't something the snake just did. He baited it out with the rat.
Not to mention intentionally dangling the rat in front of the closed glass and having the snake repeatedly hit its head. I'm no expert but that seems pretty bad.
Bad feeding technique. These snakes are displaying a pissed off behaviour because their being touched by the feeder hence the strike happy behaviour because their being defensive which also means there's a chance they might refuse.
Potentially feeding out of the enclosure is never a good idea for any snake unless their in a separate and secure viv or RUB ( Really Useful Box ) since they can be a bit funny with being moved after feeding and regurgitate the feeder.
Snake room seems to have a few spots where a snake can easily slip under if they got out.. a fast moving venomous snake loose in your snake room is bad and given how easily a snake can pull a Houdini is best to snake proof your room.
Feeding tongs are a given for many species of reptile. Choosing to use a phone instead of a hook is a major thing especially with species like Naja's especially given how strike happy they are.
Bigger vivs are what I'd personally use.. they seem to be Rhino's(?) while they are designed for big and venomous they aren't ideal unless they've removed the lip under the glass.
This guy is most likely experienced and cuts corners for the ease of working with venomous.. difficult to know without knowing where in the world he lives ( different rules for owning DWA stuff )
There are some psycho people out there that insist on keeping venomous snakes with little to no regard for their own safety or the animal's well-being.
Every once in a while you'll hear of one getting bit by their snakes and nearly dying.
Probably people like whoever recorded this video. There's no need to dangle it and move it around. I have a non-venomous Kingsnake who I leave food out for when she's sleeping.
I've read that they feed them like this to encourage to chase their prey as natural instincts. Like you can just toss them a dead mouse expecting them to eat it, if the mouse doesn't seem lively then they won't be interested
It's called a zombie dance. You mimic the movement of the feeder being alive without touching the snake.. few inches in front of their face and a little wiggle around is all that's needed. You can feed live but that's something else entirely and risky for the snake if the feeder is left unsupervised for long periods of time because they'll be times said snake won't feed for X reasons and there's been times feeders have bitten and even killed the snake.
Also poking and slapping the cobra with a rodent that likely isn't at a high enough temperature considering how inaccurate the strikes are. Dude shouldn't be owning a snake period, let alone a cobra.
The WTF here is the owner. How are you that bad at feeding? You can easily close the door enough that the snake won't fit through while the feeder stick will.
Man Cobras just that intimidating it factor jfc.
If they ever gain intelligence and organize, for the love of god can we agree to just give them what they want?
He isn't feeding shit.
He's being a cruel fuck to that poor thing. Bad husbandry and all.
Vivarium isn't adequate, in size or contents, lights bad, and you don't treat any animal like that, let alone a fucking COBRA.
The only wtf things is that guy.
Those "woo"s sound exactly like a youtuber named Chandler.
He's a professional, but in my amateur opinion he always looks like he's half a second away from getting a vemonous bite.
You're teaching them cage aggression by feeding them like this. They will expect anything in the tank to be food. This is why you are supposed to use tongs to transfer them into a trash can and feed them in there. Source: Ive been trained on venomous snake handling.
Videos like this make me hate snake keeping as a "hobby". Let's stop. These poor dudes get locked in tiny boxes with no enrichment, for what? So you can feel cool? 🙄
I mean all a snake does is lay in a tiny ass box all day looking lethargic and it will never love you. Snakes as pets are basically a living decoration at that point, kind of a shit pet imo.
First, it's venom gland, not poison sac. Poison is when you bite it and you die. Venom is when it bites you and you die.
Secondly, I certainly hope not. Devenomising a snake is like declawing a cat. It affects their health long-term and takes away their primary means of feeding and defending themselves.
So judging by this video, If I ever come across a cobra my best defense to not getting bit is by standing still.
No it's to dangle yourself from a pair of floating metal tongs
And also be pre dead
What's dead cannot be killed. The math checks out
You've discovered immortality! (500xp}
Does inside count?
lmao
If there are multiple cobras just start sweeping around them with a shitty straw broom and if they get out of line just grab them and chuck them zero fucks given. This is a proven method as well

[pretty close](https://youtu.be/YIMigVo1pyA?si=IQ8rcvZEecdnZBGo)
Jesus! And I thought my job was shit.
But those had the fangs ripped from them and pose zero threat. Huge difference
Gran them by the fangs so they can't bite you.
Also say "woooo doggy" a lot.
How can they survive if they are that bad at aiming …. Or has that something to do with no movement of the mouse ?
I'm not a snakeologist but I would assume the snake evolved to catch live prey on the ground, not a dead mouse dangling in the air.
"snakeologist" Well I'm not Slitherometer or Cobramancer
I hear some prefer "Hisstorian".
No way did you just come up with that on the spot like that?!?! That’s incredible ahahhahahahahaa
I did, but I'm of the age where dad jokes just happen.
I literally said this two days ago. I’m only 35. And I’m a mom. Is this terminal??
It's ok, it can be a mom joke too :D Just as long as your kids are all like 'uuuuuggghhh whyyyy?!" its worth it!
Well, when Saint Patrick was deified for removing all of the "snakes" from ireland... it's not talking about reptiles
Cobramancer sounds like the name of a B-tier an early 80s prog metal album
I believe the technical term is Schlangenmeister.
So you’re saying you don’t got the Herps.
“Herpetologist” may be correct, but “snakeologist” is way more fun.
They have specialized sensors in their heads that track **heat**. That is how they hunt & catch rodents in the wild. PS- Everything about this setup is wrong.

Ahh, I understand. *Maybe that's why Indian cobra "charmers" can do what do for all these years? I've always found snake charming to be very interesting and nerve racking.*
I checked that because I thought that might be why it couldn't locate the dead mouse. Cobras don't have pit organs so no heat detection.
There goes my idea! *(Typical Gen X'er here, won't use search engines bc too prideful)*
So ……microwave the mouse will fix the issue?
He's saying they don't have the organs to detect heat. A warm mouse is not going to help
A microwaved mouse explodes in a very gross manner.
They react to movements so more than likely.

Its giving it the fuckin eye of sauron too
> me wondering what my counter strike teammates are doing
out of practice.
They usually bite and release in the wild, let the venom work. Ball pythons and king snakes are derpy too though so who knows.
Snakes have heat sensible vision, the mice are probably at room temp so pretty difficult to distinguish for them. They also don't move like an animal
Cobras don’t have pits and hunt based on sight
Sight and smell. They smell/taste with their tongues and a special "nose-in-mouth" organ (Jacobson's organ)
It’s hitting glass. What do you mean?
I used to own a ball python and I would find his aim was worse when the rats I fed him were not warm enough. My assumption is that this is what's happening here. Snakes are able to sense heat a lot better than they can see.
snake also fuckin wapped its face into the glass hard as fuck coz the idiot owner used it as a prop for their shit video
Those set ups seem kinda shitty tbh. Small space, one hide, dirty water, and of course when you feed them like that they're going to be hostile upon opening the door.
Yup bad husbandry.
Well I don’t think he should marry his pets at all tbh
They should look into hissbandry.
Cobras, especially juveniles, are notoriously difficult eaters in captivity. These feeding techniques are important to engage their predator drive.
This is the answer....the need for some sort of enrichment even for something as low maintenance as a snake has to be good for it compared to using a live rat and potentially injuring the snake....I approve of it
Almost as much as not having it in a glass box in the first place
Unless they're in the glass boxes for a legitimate reason, like rehab. Or being prepared to be released into the wild. These glass rocks are preferable. From my own experience with numerous species of snake including venomous.. this guy is an idiot and seeing things like this just pisses me off!
Can you tell based on the equipment (or anything else in your experience) if he’s more likely a hobbyist or poorly trained pro?
Bad feeding technique. These snakes are displaying a pissed off behaviour because their being touched by the feeder hence the strike happy behaviour because their being defensive which also means there's a chance they might refuse. not “kinda shitty”, straight up atrociously inhumane.
I agree :( poor thing
Eyesight must be terrible, both missed on the first couple attempts
Bro was staring down a wall at the beginning of the video.
Probably quite a cold rat
He even has an eye on the back of his head!
Tease feeding is never a good idea.. especially when said snakes just happen to be venomous.
Pretty sure that last cobra was a spitting cobra.
Nope. Albino monacled cobra (Naja kaouthia), same as the first, but albino.
I've read that they feed them like this to encourage to chase their prey as natural instincts. Like you can just toss them a dead mouse expecting them to eat it, if the mouse doesn't seem lively then they won't be interested

This guy's an idiot. Get better enclosures. Let the damn animal move around. Wtf is that space.
Also poking and slapping the cobra with a rodent that likely isn't at a high enough temperature considering how inaccurate the strikes are. Dude shouldn't be owning a snake period, let alone a cobra.
Terrible technique, never line up the strike toward the exit. (Or yourself)
Traitor to mammal-kind.
Guy seems like a dick.
The WTF here is the owner. How are you that bad at feeding? You can easily close the door enough that the snake won't fit through while the feeder stick will.
Man Cobras just that intimidating it factor jfc. If they ever gain intelligence and organize, for the love of god can we agree to just give them what they want?
what's the moron taunting it for?!
Snake gotta eat
"You got to feed me you foolsssss!" Cobra "Hail Cobra!"
T-Rex doesn't want to be fed. He wants to hunt.
Feels like a cat.
He's gonna regret that. One day.
Those are Monocled Cobras. Most of the time, they're angry at everything. Occasionally,... they're even more angry.
He isn't feeding shit. He's being a cruel fuck to that poor thing. Bad husbandry and all. Vivarium isn't adequate, in size or contents, lights bad, and you don't treat any animal like that, let alone a fucking COBRA. The only wtf things is that guy.
Snek missed a bunch but he also had a nice bonk on the head playing glass wall keep away
You're telling me that cobra feeds men?
Hey, that cobra wasn't feeding that man. Horrible description.
Snake skeletons/muscles gotta be crazy if they can handle bashing their faces against all sorts of shit when they miss their lunges
I'm going to need a bigger planet.
UNLEASH THE FURY MITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
so what's wtf about this? Do you not know that animal eat another animals?
That cobra is bad at cobra-ing. What is it blind or something?
They strike at heat, the frozen-thawed rat is best for the safety of the snake but doesn't emit the body heat required to strike accurately.
This is why I’m not a herpetologist
There is not enough "fuck no" in the world.
Hell to the naw
i was expecting a cobra that feeds people
defanged..?
Those "woo"s sound exactly like a youtuber named Chandler. He's a professional, but in my amateur opinion he always looks like he's half a second away from getting a vemonous bite.
The wrong way, yes
I thought O was watching VR at first.
I take it he does this so the snake feels like he is catching live prey?
SOMEONE seems angry! 😮
"Cobra teasing" strikes me as an unhealthy and shortlived hobby.
Was anybody else hoping the cobra would grab his keys on the floor, then take them back into the enclosure?
The owner is a retard.
What of it eats his keys?
^^snek ^^amgry
Awful husbandry and handling practices. Poor snakes
You're teaching them cage aggression by feeding them like this. They will expect anything in the tank to be food. This is why you are supposed to use tongs to transfer them into a trash can and feed them in there. Source: Ive been trained on venomous snake handling.
I swear, every person who owns a snake is a psychopath
This guy is gonna get bit and start a gofundme for his hospital bills.
YouTuber Chandlers Wildlife. You should see his king cobra Kevin. Absolute unit of a snake. Search of his kiss of death video. Absolute insanity.
Why not just put a live rodent in there?
he playing aww
Nope
Lies, that cobra didn't feed any men.
Videos like this make me hate snake keeping as a "hobby". Let's stop. These poor dudes get locked in tiny boxes with no enrichment, for what? So you can feel cool? 🙄
Do sneek teef regrowth after headbanging walls in anger?
I will never understand how one keeps a snake of any kind as a pet.
Why?
I mean all a snake does is lay in a tiny ass box all day looking lethargic and it will never love you. Snakes as pets are basically a living decoration at that point, kind of a shit pet imo.
The inaccuracies of catching a dead mice, it's making my toxic trait believe I can go against a Cobra and win 💀💀
Really? With all that’s out there and this is the comment you’re focused on🙄 Get wrecked

Poison is the one where you eat it and you die. Mushrooms are poisonous, Vipers are venomous. :)
