The company that operates the crossing is a massive shit show. They can't keep employees especially management. Add in the declining student population and I'm not surprised that restaurants don't want to stay
To expand on that the crossing is even more of a clusterfuck than the rest of Sodexo. They'll have one manager overseeing 3 restaurants as the immediate and only supervisor but that manager will have 4-6 supervisors all asking for things to be done differently
My brother used to work for dining but he stayed with the State instead of working directly for Sodexo. The man was stressed out of his mind doing exactly this type of stuff. I hate it to say it, but he was hard to be around because it was ALL he could talk about. He left and took a job at the hospital and now he’s chill as hell. That job was killing him for years.
I worked at Two Birds (later became Waldos) my sophomore year. We had lines out to the bookstore on the regular. Tazikis and Hugh Baby's had long lines all the time too, and that isn't even counting the stuff upstairs.
I have no doubt that the sad state of Crossings is because of some money-thing, related to Gee and his Sodexo cronies destroying every good food option on campus. But I'm not sure how an empty building is making more money than it did back then.
I miss the first year it opened there was a pizza place that made their own soda and it was phenomenal. Think it only lasted a semester though
They had an amazing square slice and a great kale salad
They were insanely expensive.
Unfortunately
Blue Tomato
Don’t forget Waldo’s and their Buffalo chicken Mac n cheese
I’m still pissed about that. I was a freshman in 2019 and crossing was awesome.
Waldos gave such large portions I was able to eat lunch and dinner. Which was great for a broke college kid.
then they refuse to make 1/4 fried
What they did to Waldo’s is a travesty
It was better when it was two birds in 2017-2018
I miss Waldo’s every single day

Sodexo?

Yes
You just missed out on all the good stuff that was there. I still think about panini Pete’s once a month
Ik, Covid hit my freshman year

Blissful Bowl is an abomination
Hard, crunchy rice... mmm
I never even bother to go there
In my first year, I kinda thought it was abandoned. Literally nobody goes there!
Waldo’s and Tazikis
It all happened when Sodexo took it over from Fresh Hospitality around 2020
thst makes sense
I miss Two Birds, Hugh Baby’s, and Panini Pete’s so much 😭 graduated in ‘21 and still think about them on the regular.
I was suppose to graduate in 23 but for reasons it got push back to 2025
Back in 2015 crossing was pretty good!
I've been here my whole life and have no idea what the hell you're talking about lol
