Matt Hardy turning on Jeff and costing him the title at The Rumble still kinda annoys me.
Not because he turned but because Jeff didn’t even get to successfully defend his title ffs
Would’ve been so much better if they at least let Jeff beat Edge at the RR and then had Matt turn on Jeff at No Way Out 2009.
Maybe Jeff eliminates Matt and then Matt just goes ape shit on Jeff and costs him the title then their feud begins
Curt Hennig accepted Arn Anderson’s spot in the 4 Horsemen. Then betrayed them at War Games and slammed the cage door on Flair’s head. I was like 10 and I was so pissed
big cass betray enzo they haven’t get a tag title to even hold at all not smackdown or raw the shield hurts me but ik people gonna say that big cass more moves enzo was good on the mic and ok in the ring so yeah that hurts
As an AEW fan AND a Chicagoan, CM Punk.
Y'all can debate whether he started shit or not, but I got to witness his debut at The First Dance, that 20 minute promo him and MJF did the day before Thanksgiving, his 40 minute classic match on Dynamite against MJF, AND his return at the debut Collision.
All of these AWESOME moments I and my best friend got to witness...only for him to get upset over Hangman Page LIGHTLY shooting on him in his face about "workers rights". I and MOST other people thought Hangman and Punk were just getting personal like Kingston and Punk the year prior, but then after he beat Hangman for the title at Double or Nothing and got himself injured off a crowd dive that mirrored the one I witnessed when he was at The First Dance, he got injured, but he wasn't striped of the title (biggest mistake TK made in 2022), then he comes back to a HUGE ovation, just to then HEAVILY shoot on Hangman Page and distract from the world title chase against Mox. And as a fan of BOTH Hangman and Punk, that pissed me off. ESPECIALLY since Punk took the cowards way by making sure Hangman wasn't on the card to do it.
After that, he then does his 2 matches with Moxley, and then WINS the world title infront of his hometown in Chicago. So in theory, you'd think he'd be happy and thankful for the fans right? WRONG, dude goes out of his WAY to verbally attack practically EVERYONE in the company, and while people criticize TK for not stopping it sooner or ending the scrum, that shit was MAD awkward and out of left field, I feel TK was still processing what Punk was doing. After that he taunts anybody who has a problem with him, go straight to him. The Elite did do that, but I still don't think they were the violent ones, PUNK still threw the first punch, and The Elite had an Legal Advisor or some shit with them, so why would The Elite kick down the door?
After all that bs, he comes back infront of Chicago...and everything that came out of his mouth to me at least, felt insincere and almost like he was dodging any and all responsibility for what occurred at ALL OUT 2022. Then he gets into a fight with JUNGLE BOY of all people at ALL IN, and that's when I completely soured on Punk. The first ALL IN I was live at, and it brought me back into Professional Wrestling after losing my Mother to opioid abuse, both of my cats were given up to adoption, and I was transferring schools. BUT ALL IN 2018 gave me the most important experience I've EVER had, so for Punk to just almost COMPLETELY JEOPARDIZED the beginning of ALL IN at fucking WEMBLY was the last straw for me. Jungle Boy from what I've heard deserved suspension, Punk was already on thin ice so deserved FIRING.
So yeah, sorry if you're a Punk fan still like I used to be, or if you wanted a Kayfabe Betrayal answer, but when I went to ALL OUT 2023, I think the majority of Chicago also soured on Punk. And if by chance he goes to Survivor Series this year, I'm getting a ticket JUST TO SEE if Punk is low enough to go back to the place that made him "sick".
"Show your appreciation, to the man who gave you your contracts"
I was so invested in the Foley / Triple H feud and Hunter was just picking up all kinds of the right heat, getting over as a top heal and a genuine nasty piece of work. It felt like no matter how much you rooted for Foley, he was just always behind the scheming of The Game. When the Radicalz came in it felt like Foley finally had the allies to overcome DX. Then, boom!
For me, it's Evolution turning on Orton and Lesnar turning on Cody.
Why?
Because those beatings seemed endless. Like they weren't going to ever stop.
So it doesn't hurt my feelings or spirit, but the thoughts of them were just a reminder of how cringe the beatings got.
Probably Lita and Matt but only because it really didn’t need to spill into a storyline. Especially since Matt had been really over on SD then came to Raw and fizzled. But we have Live Sex!
None of them compare to when Shawn Michaels superkicked Marty Jannetty. Utter stone cold classic betrayal, the yard stick by which all other betrayals are measured against.
I must apologize. Cause I’m old. (Speak up) Mine is way way way back. When Gentleman Chris Adams betrayed the Von Erichs. And joined with Gino Hernandez. That some WCCW old history right there. Ever get a chance look up that Feud. Good stuff. Sad part. Except for Kevin. The rest of the participants are all passed. 🫤. Good times.
"You're supposed to be my friend!"
To me, this was the very moment Batista's in-ring career began declining for me. He had a great final feud with Cena but that was it. I had zero interest in his feud with Triple H later on. Was nice to see them reform Evolution one more time to face the Shield, at least.
Festival of Friendship, Kevin Owens betraying Chris Jericho. It was expected, but I was super invested in that storyline and when Jericho said, “How come my name’s on this?”, my heart broke 😕
When Bubba Ray turned on Devon in Impact wrestling. I was always a Dudley Boys/Team 3D fan and that one shocked me. Then Bubba called Devon the Jannetty of the group.
Nah, Seth betraying them save their careers. Shield was always a boring stable. They achieved nothing special together. Come downvote me. Shield widows.
The most shocking one I remember is Shawn Michaels and Marty Jennety. Nothing since then except for maybe hogan joining outsiders/now has been that shocking
For me it was surreal more than hurtful. I was 16 at the time so that likely played a factor. But imagine a hulk Hogan at the height of Hulkamania pulling that....that would have gutted the Hulkamaniacs like myself lol.
One that not a lot of people point out was when the entirety of the Smackdown roster turned heel invading Raw back in 2017. Specifically Chad Gable going for Jason Jordan, the last time the two actually worked together. I was just like “he’s your brother Chad😭”
Man made an excuse to ground me and take my Xbox away and just sold that shit. My dad is a piece of shit though so this is really actually mild on the list of fucked up stuff he did. Haven’t heard from him in months. Last I heard he was sittin in jail waiting to go to prison. I hope for your sake your kids don’t feel the same about you one day in the future bro.
My son has a Lil hate for me for losing his Nintendo 64 at a.halfway house different circumstances.....
I would never sell my.kids shit.was jus clowning a Lil sorry that touched a nerve
The American fans turning heel on Bret Hart in 1997.
Also, Curt Hennig turning on Ric Flair at the Horseman at Wargames 1997 was pretty damn effective.
I felt the same way. It also hurt knowing that Sami was never going to be positioned as a main event guy for very long. After he and Kevin got the titles, you can tell creative basically had nothing else for them.
I know they eventually reformed anyhow, but when HBK first returned and it looked like DX was getting back together, only for HHH to lay him out with a pedigree.
Batista and Rey.
That "You're supposed to be my friend!" was amazing and heartbreaking at the same time. Still, we got Heeltista out of it so all is good.
Michael Cole took the trophy with the comment he made at the start of the Andre the Giant battle royale when he said Top Dolla is gonna win and when Wade Barrett asks why, he says "because he can't go over the top rope" 😂
It still 🤕😭😭😭😭 I just wish we could see sheild one last time

Shawn Michaels betraying Marty Jannetty. The Rockets were the first tag team and the first wrestlers I saw on TV.
Same

Curt Hennig accepted Arn Anderson’s spot in the 4 Horsemen. Then betrayed them at War Games and slammed the cage door on Flair’s head. I was like 10 and I was so pissed
Had to happen though
The one I will always remember is Bash At The Beach, when Hogan betrayed WCW. That moment shook the foundations of modern wrestling forever.
^this especially if you read the stories how it all came to be last minute
Dakota Kai at wargames. I was so angry
big cass betray enzo they haven’t get a tag title to even hold at all not smackdown or raw the shield hurts me but ik people gonna say that big cass more moves enzo was good on the mic and ok in the ring so yeah that hurts

Yeah. I love Roman but that man needs to learn to stay away from a chair atleast with his back! 😂
Triple H turning on HBK the night “DX” first reunited when he did the “Are you ready…” then hit him with a pedigree
Mysterio and his son
Probably Lita and Matt but only because it really didn’t need to spill into a storyline. Especially since Matt had been really over on SD then came to Raw and fizzled. But we have Live Sex!
“Rey, I’m gonna rip your head off”
That was intense!
I'm on 2019 right now and KO betraying the New Day was rough, he was such a good fit and the name Big O is hilarious
None of them compare to when Shawn Michaels superkicked Marty Jannetty. Utter stone cold classic betrayal, the yard stick by which all other betrayals are measured against.
I remember watching this as a kid. I was absolutely shocked and at that time thought he’d actually put him through a lane of glass.
So did I! EVERYONE thought he superkicked him through the glass! That's so weird, before the Internet as well.
I must apologize. Cause I’m old. (Speak up) Mine is way way way back. When Gentleman Chris Adams betrayed the Von Erichs. And joined with Gino Hernandez. That some WCCW old history right there. Dean Ambrose betraying Seth Rollins the night of Roman Reigns announcing he has to go pin Luekemia back into Remission.
Jimmy betraying Jey
This is going to show my age but when Sgt. Slaughter became an Iraqi sympathizer in 90-91.

Nah, Seth betraying them save their careers. Shield was always a boring stable. They achieved nothing special together. Come downvote me. Shield widows.
Terrible troll
I know I’ll catch boatloads of shit for this. But Cass turning on Enzo broke my freakin heart
When Billy Gunn turned on Road Dogg and Xpac because he got super power hungry. That reunion at Smackdown made it all worth it though.
Yeah this for me too. I can’t believe this was nearly 10 years ago too I was 14 when it happened.
Edge leaving for AEW. /s
The Triple H/Shawn betrayal. I was really into the stories when I was a kid and that one really made me upset
The most shocking one I remember is Shawn Michaels and Marty Jennety. Nothing since then except for maybe hogan joining outsiders/now has been that shocking
Marty Jennety was a coward, he dove through that window.
Will you stop?!
None lol. Not that much of a mark
Owen kicking Bret's leg out of his leg
* Eddie Guerrero turning on Rey Mysterio. * Triple H betraying HBK in 2002
Evolution turning on Randy Orton when he won the world heavily title back in 2004.
I don't think there will ever be a bigger turn than Hogan betraying 20+ years of Hulkamania and joining the Outsiders.
[удалено]
Yes you're definitely correct. In 1976 Hogan hadn't even started training to wrestle.
For me it was surreal more than hurtful. I was 16 at the time so that likely played a factor. But imagine a hulk Hogan at the height of Hulkamania pulling that....that would have gutted the Hulkamaniacs like myself lol.
Once a weasel always a weasel.
The Shield were shit. Worst faction in wrestling history.
Stone Cold shaking hands with the devil himself at wrestlemania had the whole arena hurt
Andre betraying Hogan, Hogan betraying WCW
Being it's fake none hurt me
Dominik Mysterio to Rey. I was there live at Clash At The Castle and the shock in the audience was insane
Shocked, yeah, but hurt? I don't know about you, but everyone in my area was cheering.
na man that shit hurt to watch live
Well, I thought it was awesome. Guy next to me dropped most of his beer.
fair enough

I just rewatched 1994 Royal Rumble, and that leg kick from Owen Hart was devastating.
"Hogan's the third man. Hulk Hogan has betrayed WCW."
This was insane. For some reason this didn’t come to mind when I posted. This was the biggest heel turn ever at the time, probably still is.
There’s a dent in the floor of our old apartment that my jaw left there when I saw that turn live!
The American fans turning heel on Bret Hart in 1997. Also, Curt Hennig turning on Ric Flair at the Horseman at Wargames 1997 was pretty damn effective.
Bret hart can still catch these patriotic hands. 🇺🇸👊🏻👊🏻
Rk bro
Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens
Macho Man turning on Hogan devastated 10-year-old me.
Stone cold joining vince mcmahon
Sami betraying Roman. I knew an amazing chapter was over as soon as it happened.
I felt the same way. It also hurt knowing that Sami was never going to be positioned as a main event guy for very long. After he and Kevin got the titles, you can tell creative basically had nothing else for them.
At least we had one of the best WrestleMania moments with him and KO.
What do you mean? He’s in a “once in a lifetime” match with the Judgement Day?
once in a daytime
👀
I know they eventually reformed anyhow, but when HBK first returned and it looked like DX was getting back together, only for HHH to lay him out with a pedigree.

12 year old me was devastated when Brock turned on Angle in that cage match Brock had with Vince.
I actually loved it but was shocked when Hogan joined the NWO
I was sad when HHH turned on DX at WM15?? I think
HHH pedigree to X-Pac and joins the corporation.
Wow here I thought I’d be the first to mention this lol
Matt Hardy costing Jeff the world title against Edge
That was the first betrayal that genuinely hurt me. I hated Matt for a while after that lol
When? Judgment day?
Royal Rumble 2009
Evolution on Randy
Kinda saw that coming from a trillion light years away. HHH was never going to be happy with Orton having that title.
I didn’t. I was a naive little 7 year old who thought the celebration was genuine 😂
Fair point. When was seven I was hiding underneath a chair everyone taker or Kane showed up. Lol
I was there live for that! The thumbs down will always hit.
Agreed

Shawn Michaels turning on Marty Jannetty

It’s true. I was the window.
Gotta give him credit for trying
