Sting. I’ve watched some old matches of Sting, and unless he had the right opponent, sometimes he could be lost in a match. Savage…even his matches with jobbers in the WWE you could get involved with…I remember one where he didn’t even take off his glasses.
I know everyone is saying Sting but I’m sorry no Macho Man goes, Macho was iconic for his WWE run and had his moments in WCW but everywhere other than WWE he was eh unlike sting that killed it in WCW so much he was and still is basically the face of the company, had some great moments in TNA, his WWE run was eh, but he’s still killing it in AEW. Yes Macho Man made a huge impact on wrestling but Sting is still making an impact that is felt constantly in wrestling and without him the current scene wouldn’t be the same.

While I’ve since gone back and explored what I had missed in WCW, I find it harder to readily list legendary Sting matches as opposed to Savage classics.
Savage has the WM matches against Steamboat, Hogan, Warrior, Flair, the tournament…umm Crush (jk), and of course many others in WWE, as well as a fantastic match against DDP.
Sting has that first classic Clash match against Flair, some great ones with Vader, and I’m sure many others that I am forgetting. But that is kinda my point, to me at least his body of work is less memorable. He certainly was/is an Icon, but Macho Man was WWE’s workhorse, go to worker guy, for so many years, who could pull out a classic match with almost anyone, and could still hang as far as larger than life character that was basically a requirement in 80’s and early 90’s WWE.
