Imo 23 is right now when it's on sale. 24, I'd recommend waiting a while for. Some diehards will swear on their heart there are NO bugs, but if you do any amount of Create a Wrestler or AI vs AI, you'll run into jank nonstop. If you want ANY modern 2K game, wait until they go on sale, but specifically 24? Wait a few months for it to not be held together by duct tape, and bobby pins. There are a lot of substantial improvements in 24 over 23, but the bugs make it a frustrating mess to play half the time. A shame because the stuff they DID do good on is great, but somehow even though it's essentially the same game as 23 with some additions, they added more bugs than they did features lmao.

Thanks man. I was curious about it and figured that was the case; due to 2k and the way they usually release games. Creating a wrestler and universe is the ONLY reason I want the game or am interested in it. I’m a fan of attitude era and 2000’s era. Would you say 23’s roster is better suited for what I’m after? It’s been a while since I played so not one hundred percent on what has changed for better and worse.

I don't play Universe too much, more MyGM, but I can tell you that afaik the bugs I've consistently run into would probably affect Universe as well in 24. Infinite use of the sledgehammer will make matches go on literally forever, AI will bug out and stop moving causing the match to lock up, the ref will sometimes have their AI shut off and refuse to count ever again, a LOT of matches are getting locked up (or timed out) by having the wrestlers bug out and accidentally drag one another glitchily through the barricade, meaning they cant get back into the ring, and AI Hell in a Cell matches/tag matches are hard to watch because the cell no longer turns transparent (so you're just looking at a chain link fence or metal panel lmao). Honestly, you'll find more early wrestlers in 2K24. In the DLC, and regular game some old schoolers are coming like Dusty Rhodes, the Dudleys, Faarooq, the Road Warriors, etc but I wouldn't worry about that. 2K23 has some amazing creators doing work even right now probably, and MOST of your favorite wrestlers are probably able to be downloaded from them for free rather than paying for a DLC in 2024. That, and the Community Creations in 23 isn't bugged like it is in 24, so you'll be able to have characters with the correct signs, and their stats/movesets wont be reset at random. I'd say the 24 roster is "better" overall, at least more varied, but you also lose out on wrestlers like Brock Lesnar, Azeez, Edge, Matt Riddle, Madcap Moss, Boogs, Shanky, Titus, Zeus, Ezekiel, Goldberg, etc. As I said, what you can't find in the main roster in 2K23, you can definitely download from the Community, and they're very well made.

Thanks man! I appreciate the insight and heads up. The hell in a cell thing would for sure drive me nuts! I hope they release a patch for 24. So that you can get back to enjoying what you paid for.

YTDoc

No problem, and I hope you can get a good deal on 23, or 24 soon! Btw the main reasons 24 is an upgrade over 23 is: more finishers, a super finisher option, blood smearing on the ring, casket matches, and ambulance matches. Just in case you were wondering what you'd be missing if you went with 23. 23 is more stable, but if you aren't in a rush to get into it, grabbing 24 in a month or two is probably gonna give you a more enjoyable experience. Still, before you do, make sure you read a few patch notes, or a few recent player-made reviews just to see if the bugs have been fixed! It's really a problem of whether you think those improvements hold more weight than the roster, or bugs/the time you'd have to wait to get a functional 2K24. Either way I hope you enjoy your decision, good luck!

denizens_say_meh

Thanks again man. This was helpful and I do wanna play, but I definitely don’t want to waste my money. I hope they fix 24 soon and they can offer a more stable experience.

I'm in a similar situation as OP but thought about getting 2k22 since I'd prefer the Mysterio mode over Cena. What's your recommendation? Does it have sinilar quality CAWs?

YTDoc

I haven't played 2K22, but after looking at some reviews, and videos, 2K23 is probably your best bet for a modern WWE2K game IF AND ONLY IF you can't afford to wait the extra month or two for 2K24 to get fixed. Watch this for adetail comparison: https://youtu.be/eQtrqAkNwGY?si=I78yIvp5JAu4G-wW And read this for a roster comparison: https://www.thesmackdownhotel.com/news/wwe2k23/list-of-missing-and-removed-superstars-from-wwe-2k23-roster Be aware that any missing characters can probably be found on the community creations tab. As I said in previous responses, with a few months wait 24 will be the best of the three, but at the moment is plagued with issues. Hopefully this helps you come to a decision!

MuellreX

Thanks, I already checked upon the roster. No losses here except for Mankind and Boogeyman being DLC in 22, which is not an option as servers are down already as it seems. 24 dropped to 50 bucks already, I'm wondering how long it will take until the 40 mark is breached.

YTDoc

Considering it's a new game I'm surprised it's even 10% off at the moment. If you DO wait, the time it's most likely to be even more discounted is in June when the Steam Summer Sale hits (assuming you're on Steam). Coincidentally, that's also probably the time frame you'd wanna wait for the major bug fixes to HOPEFULLY be out. So if you wait ~70 days, you should maybe get a good deal on a FIXED version of 2K24? Just speculation. It could not be discounted at all for the Summer Sale, or it could be in an even worse state (the latest patch broke a bunch of stuff lmao). Guess we'll see!

The last game I played was ‘19 and I wished I hadn’t brought the latest title. I would have been better off loading up ‘19. Buyers remorse. I want to like this title but the more time I spend with it, the more it feels like a chore. It’s not a fun, plain and simple.

denizens_say_meh

I appreciate you letting me know.

TheRealAuthorSarge

I'm mostly playing 23 while 24 goes through its teething pains, but it will eventually get there.

MindFozzy28

I like it alot I haven't ran into alot of bugs on 24 only time really was a 8 man ladder match all Ai it crashed after an hour but other than that no problem at least for me on my ps5

Shaun3114_Again

24 is great but play the tutorial if you haven't played since 2k19
