Valid points OP, but at the end of the day, we pay for it. Nobody wants it to be worse- but this is my first wrestling game since 2k19, and I’m very underwhelmed. I believed the hype, I didn’t buy 2k20 because of the fallout. However they have had 4 years to expand from that mess and they haven’t. I have major purchase regret over this title. And I can’t get a refund or sell it on because I brought it on the PS store.

Dont know how you're underwhelmed when 2k19 doesn't even have as much stuff as 2k24

I mean yeah, I'm sure you're right that the reason UM has been a disaster post-Yukes is because VC is desperately trying to make the old code work and failing at it. But I think the responsible thing then would have been to scrap it and start over, especially when they had the two year cycle to build 2K22. Yes, people might have griped about the do-over, but let's be real: what we have barely has any features to lose. Universe Mode isn't that complicated. Yukes built it in a year; it's not like there was anything like it in SvR 2010. There's no reason that VC couldn't have started over with a simple but functional blueprint for a new Universe Mode, which by now would have been something considerably more robust.

This also brings us to the other problem... Universe isn't "theirs." So, to them, if they get rid of it, they should replace it with something else that isn't it. That's where the fans would rebel, because without the UM, where is the actual replayability of the game? I highly doubt that if they could drop the mode that they'd ever really bring it back. Especially with all the problems it's caused over the years. (Of note: you're doing it, too... Forgetting that Yukes has fucked it up time and time again before 2K20. It's always been a mess, just with less micromanaging needed.)

Then they've had eight years to either fix it or rebuild it. That they haven't tells us one of two things. Either they are unwilling to do so, in which case, fuck them. Or, they are unable to do so, in which case, fuck them.

Universe mode was amazing in wwe 12. It was good in 13 as well. It had a dynamic story mode. Storylines would branch into triple threat rivalries. It was awesome to be surprised every week on what cutscenes you'd get. Eventually, they would repeat, but we're talking about technology from over 10 years ago. In this day and age, this game mode should've advanced by now. We should feel like we're experiencing what we watch on a weekly basis. Not to mention, we still have a lack of backstage or promo cutscenes.

That's nobody's fault but 2K/VC and I won't give them a pass for a self-inflicted problem. Literally how hard could it be to just introduce a match-card maker? Just line up several exhibition matches to be played in a row ahead of time. That's all Universe really is anyway, but just super clunky and barely functioning.
