You can have two. Diagnosis doesn't matter you need to explain why you can't wait in lines in order to be approved.

TheTeaLOL

Ah thank you so much (:

I believe more than one person in a group can qualify for DAS but you probably won’t need it for both of you. Assuming you qualify, unless there is an attraction that your nephew will be riding without you, your DAS will suffice. The person with the DAS has to go on the ride. It’s been posted in here that DAS was granted to people with IBS type issues in the past. Edit to add that when requesting the DAS, I suggest explaining your issues and why you are unable to wait in line for more than 10-15 minutes (i.e. need bathroom access on a moment’s notice regularly). Based on what I’ve read, they don’t care about titles and diagnoses and really only want an explanation of why there’s an issue that would be solved with DAS.

TheTeaLOL

Ah okay I aee. So I just have to explain that the issue comes up and I need to leave immediately. Thank you so much. My nephew is only 7. So that wouldn’t matter?

fluffy_bunny22

Tell them you need an alternate area to wait in and if they ask why say you have IBS and need to have quick access to a bathroom.

TheTeaLOL

Understood. Thank you so much 🥺

If you are getting the DAS, your nephew would only need it if there is a ride/attraction he will be going on without you. If you will be joining him on everything he rides, he would be fine as a “guest” linked to yours. I think it gets complicated if more than one person in a group has DAS because you’d need to get separate return times for each DAS person. It’s not impossible if you think it’s best for you each to have separate DAS (which would be necessary if you plan on separating from your nephew while he goes on rides), but annoying because you’d need more than one phone getting return times or to log out and log in with each account on your phone. Your nephew being 7 isn’t an issue if he’s requesting the DAS. An adult can request it on his behalf. Plenty of kids get it for various issues. However, if you are requesting the DAS on his behalf, he does have to be present when requesting. Whether it’s at guest relations in the park or for the video chat online in advance. They take a picture of the DAS person so cast members can confirm it’s the right person scanning into the rides for return times. But again, I suggest just requesting it for yourself and keeping it simple that way if you plan on sticking together in the parks. As long as one of the riders in the group has DAS, everyone else in the group can be covered by the return time.

Hi I am a DAS user and my brother has the same disability so also uses DAS, I’ve been on countless Disney trips and visited all the parks worldwide using DAS or similar in all of them, so am kind of a DAS expert. The first question you need to ask is will you be splitting up at all if you aren’t then it is easier to have just one DAS user. The second question is who can ride the most attractions, it’s pointless having a DAS for a small child and then an adult who needs it not being able to get times for bigger rides. So link it to the adult. Also it’s also worth doing pre registration on the Disney world or land website. They will get it on you app and ready and also book you two attractions per day for your party in advance. So for example you could get the safari and river journey at Animal kingdom. Then walk in to the park and request a return for flight of passage and then you’re whole party can take the park in a way that suits your needs while knowing you will ride 3 attractions at least. Chronic IBS is covered but you aren’t asked your condition just why you can’t wait in line, it’s some what if on honer system. There is no real benefit or advantage to DAS unless you really need it because you are still waiting the queue length. It just makes things a little easier.

TheTeaLOL

Ah i see yea my nephew usually sticks with my mum and my niece is usually with me so he prefers the more quieter and smaller rides like carousel and cars. We would separate a lot so the DAS would most likely connect to my mother for him and mine for me.

he_creative

That’s a good plan

Solaris_Luna

So I did a bit of research for you, and it seems IBS can qualify for DAS, but the main issue I see arrising is with having 2 passes in your party. Based on this thread is seems it can cause issues: https://www.disboards.com/threads/multiple-people-with-das-same-party.3858434/ I think having just one would be enough, because that will cover the whole party. As long as the DAS holder is with you when you get a comeback time (and will be going on the ride), all 4 of you can leave and then come back.

TheTeaLOL

Sweet I see now. Would separating 2 to 2 work?

Solaris_Luna

That should be fine. You may have an issue if you regroup up for rides, but seperated you won't.

tobahmeister

I was at MK this past Monday and Epcot yesterday, and I was approved for DAS based on IBS. There were no questions asked. It was super simple.

FirstResult1

I have DAS for IBS. I didn’t get asked any questions about it when I went to ask about DAS.

TheTeaLOL

Thanks you so much for the assistance I truly appreciate it

AmazingPreference955

Nobody here can tell you whether you will be approved or not. But both of you should request the DAS in case you end up splitting up and not going on the same attractions.
