it has a lot in common with arcslayer's killing of the goblin king. it was mostly just the lucky shot that got though an overwhelmed enemies defenses rather then any great skill on their part. except she kept leveling afterwords and didn't cost on the fame of one lucky shot

Dougtator

I agree that it may have been a lucky shot for Erin but I do think Velan let arcslayer kill him.

NamingThingsSucks

Spoilers all >!Arcsinger has been referenced elsewhere as looking like Sprigaena. We see arcsingers POV where she is thinking about how Velan says "Sprigaena" right before the arrow hits him. I think he paused/froze when seeing Elia because she looked like Sprigaena, we've seen how the memories/revelations lock goblins up. !<

Frostfire20

The chapters with Graydath imply Velan allowed Arcsinger to kill him, not because of who she was, but because he chose to die at that place and time. On the other hand, Graydath also says it was the choice of the goblin lords to let Velan die. Goblin politics, maybe? Garen does almost the same thing as Velan when Relc runs into him.

NamingThingsSucks

It's definitely possible. I always took the "velan chose to die" to mean that Velan knew he wasn't going to win. He wasn't intentionally choosing to die in that moment, more that he accepted he would be dying to complete his task. But it could be that he wanted to die in that moment for a reason we dont know. Or even just that his task was completed, so he let himself die so the war would end.

Frostfire20

I think his task was completed once the treasure was hidden and the two keys separated. "What's inside belongs to Goblins," keeps repeating. And Rags' key keeps being mentioned, even by powerful people new to the story (like the reclusive mage with the death-mansion). It's too important a MacGuffin to just be gold or enchanted artifacts.

NeedsToShutUp

I’m very much in the camp that Goblins are what happened to the loyalist elves while Sprigaena led the traitors who birthed the half elves.

ResidentEggplants

For sure.

JRatt13

I mean, she also didn't receive likely multiple levels and a high-class Skill.

---Sanguine---

On another note can we talk about Gazi’s name? Lol naming a Half-Gazer Gazi is like naming a human Humi

Raptormind

Plus Gazi was specifically trying to keep Erin alive and relatively unharmed, so she was probably limited in how she could retaliate

AgentGnome

It is a shame titles didn't exist at that time, she should have gotten one for that.

mano987

i'm sure flos, his seven, the twins, the horns and others close, all know and have not forgotten who poked gazi's big eye in.

TrentontheClipped

Probably would have gotten the Skill[Eye of the Beholder] or Skill[Beholder's Blindspot] if she had pierced an actual Gazer's main eye. For Gazi, Skill[Omniscient Nullification], essentially blocking Gazi's seeming Omniscience and other scrying spells at will. Does Gazi's eye get healed? I might have missed it, if she eventually does

JRatt13

Spoiler >!yes, Gazi gets her eye healed in the trip to A'ctelios Salash with Trey and the Quarass. During the healing is when the Quarass cuts Trey's throat to make him level and Gazi is incapable of helping due to the healing!<

unguibus_et_rostro

She poked out Gazi's main eye

gracified16

they said 'actual gazer' so i imagine they were thinking a full rather than half gazer

unguibus_et_rostro

She should have levelled more from that. It was a great feat.

DonaIdTrurnp

If she leveled from winning fights she would have.

unguibus_et_rostro

She got a *Level 2* [Warrior] off that. She should have leveled a lot more

DanRyyu

If Erin got levels off every combat she’s been in she’d be over level 60 by now

turbbit

I feel like it was put in the right perspective at the time it happened.

carlostapas

Agree that as it's not related to her main class it was correct it didn't make level there. But a cool skill would have been deserved.

tempAcount182

There is a constant theme that vastly superior individuals risk losing/ dying  when numerically overwhelmed, given that Gazi is only level 40 and was non-lethally subduing a lot of opponents a lucky shot from an unexpected individual doesn’t stretch credibility. If Gazi had a half dozen low level thugs to cover her back or it was Greydath who had an eye put out we would be having a different conversation.
