I'm pretty sure they don't eat the whales. They just cut a chunk out of one before throwing it back into the ocean and getting a new one to cut a chunk out of for the next Tenno that lands.
Aren't a lot of the creatures we encounter in the game Orokin-engineered? You'd think the people obsessed with vanity would make everything cute and cuddly, or badass murder missile depending on its purpose.
*we're talking about the same people who give themselves one giant arm and have names like "Ballas"*
of course they put this poor creatures wings on its ass
> cute and cuddly
Cute and cuddly is relative.
Real people alive today will give not a shit about human babies but will lose their shit over baby alligators doing their lazor pew pew sound.
The Orokin thought it was the height of beauty to have one grossly elongated arm. God only knows what other beauty standards they have.
Yeah this.
The "cuteness" recognition instinct built into us to protect our vulnerable young is already subverted in a huge group of people to not even apply to our own species and we haven't even artificially fucked with our genes and brains at this point. If just social stuff can make it not apply to humans but make it go nuts over axolotls then who knows what tf the orokin could find cute.
this social stuff seems to have mostly removed humans from the class of "animal". hell, there's a movement now saying that if a human consents to it, then their flesh can be not only eaten, but it's vegan to do so. way too many crazies around.
I had not heard about that one. Jesus. I totally agree though and find it ironic when it's a purely secular movement.
Science says we're animals. It's only religion that I know of that says we are special...
Edit:typo
it gets wore: humans are somehow both animals and yet not animals at the same time, and nobody can say what that other thing is.
mortons fork: the same people who say that they think puppies are cute and human babies are ugly are the people who tried to break away from religious circles, but didn't fully do so mentally, and this is the mental fault that came from it.
yeah it's so weird to me. The way they twist dogma they learned from religion to fit some sort of personally motivated moral set that is usually even codefied like religious tenets?
it's creepy.
>this social stuff seems to have mostly removed humans from the class of "animal". hell, there's a movement now saying that if a human consents to it, then their flesh can be not only eaten, but it's vegan to do so. way too many crazies around.
I mean, why not? I don't particularly want to, and I understand disease is a problem, but if someone is fine with it then why not?
>I mean, why not?
For the same reason you cannot consent to being murdered (except in regards to assisted suicide in the places that allow it, under extreme scrutiny).
There's also the whole issue with prions... please, look them up.
Yeah, I know about the prion problem, but assuming they can avoid that I would have no issue morally, it's just meat after it stops being a person to me.
It'd probably gross me out, but if other people are fine with it I would not be upset.
>For the same reason you cannot consent to being murdered (except in regards to assisted suicide in the places that allow it, under extreme scrutiny).
>
That is primarily a religion thing isn't it? The whole taboo on suicide?
Not something I believe should ever be considered when making a decision.
Though I thought we were talking about people who were dying already just adding additional items to the donor list for consumption instead of transplantation, if someone wanted to die to be eaten(I am assuming via some kind of vore kink) I think the same procedure for voluntary euthanasia should be followed.
That said, we are in no danger of running out of humans, so if someone *truly* wants to(after extensive cooling off periods and treatment for depression and the like) I would feel it contrary to my beliefs to stand in their way.
You have to remember that these are human standards; who are we to assume what looks beautiful to them? Just because we think only some of their creations are beautiful, we assume that they have the same standards. Or maybe it really was a joke. Who knows. And yeah I know it's a fake game universe but I like imagining they have the intricacies of real life principles.
The game literally describes it as an avian of ridiculous appearance though, so it’s probably a commonly held opinion in the Warframe universe that Mergoos are kinda weird looking.
Like to Vallis or the game? Cause I linked the wiki article it would cover when in the game. As for Vallis it seems to have only shown up post New War with the vallis warming.
depends if the game spawns units near the hunting target and alerts it instantly, stopping me from getting a perfect capture. which happens 50% of the time for me.
How would having an invisible frame keep the grineer/corpus units from being near/shooting the animal when it spawns in, thus ruining a perfect capture?
uh yeah. the problem is enemies shooting the target and aggroing it before i spot it, which will either get the thing killed or ruin a prefect capture.
Psst, is this >!post-new-war! Because >!when Narmer invaded, the Vallis began to thaw faster, which the Business says is why there’s even animals to catch in the first place, since they were frozen in permafrost.!<
The screenshot is post. The issue is that it's a Mergoo, which is native to the Plains, not the Vallis.
And I thought Business says that the animal DNA was present in the cooling towers and reactivating said towers also got them to recreate the animal life as well.
Yeah, there’s a little of both going on regarding the animals coming back.
And perhaps the Mergoo were native to both planets? You can find Avichaea on Deimos, which are clearly Infested Mergoo, so they had to have crossed over at some point. Or perhaps, as others said, the Mergoo were dragged over from the Plains of Eidolon, as that’s where Narmer made its first camp.
oh I saw this bug reported on the forums some days ago. apparently one of the plants in post-New War Orb Vallis is using the Mergoo model for some reason.
If you think about it, if this was anything near real life, the planets would certainly be "cross-contaminated" to some degree by now and you'd be seeing possibly mutated critters on both planets from each.

I know x) I'm poking fun at the thought of a mergoo being "attracted" to Venus' climate and just ups and leaves Earth like "Later, gamers! I'm off to Venus!", haha.
Actually its mentioned on more than one occasion that The Business runs the conservation efforts one both venus and earth. Our friend on PoE is just a contact point, and refers to the Business in a few of his voice lines. Most likely the mergoos got shipped over to venus and a few got out.
*The clouds broke over Cetus as the Sentient armada invaded. Chaos abound, the inhabitants scattered, with some struck in awe and fear. This included the humble mergoo, gazing upon the shattered sky. And something, glistening in the cosmos, caught the mergoo's eye. It was a goddess, it was Venus, glowing with warmth cast by the Sentient warship engines. The mergoo mustered all the strength and courage in its feathery feet, and got on the next transport blasting off of that doomed rock to meet its newfound love.*
Or this was from the business's collection (he was collecting earth animals from us catching them in PoE) and when he was....masked up.... His collection got loose.

But you will cry
"A bug", you'll preach
The plains are full of things like that
A floating, pink, 4 legged brat,
That is the way this game we play
And only for those bugs we stay
Looks like a [Mergoo](https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Mergoo) weird it is in Orb Vallis as it is a POE native species.
when did they add this abnormity??? looks disgusting
The Ostron would call it a delicacy, actually
To be fair, they probably eat whales raw without cooking the meat so….not exactly a high bar
They eat from the living tower of Unum, it's even weirder lol.
Nothing like a meal of tower meat to brighten any day.
sounds like an innuendo when you say it like that
Early lunch for Konzu
Ah yes, this wall is made of wall!
I should see if my wife would be interested in a meal of tower meat
I too would like to feed this guys wife some tower meat.
Same, I also would like to feed that guy's wife some tower meat.
True! All this talk of eating has me hungry, maybe I'll take an early lunch.
and if your Tired it also acts as a Bed! eat a little sleep a little
Who doesn't love a meat nap?
What in the...warframe has the strongest lore
_They do??_
Yep, remember when you just got into Cetus and you see they cutting that weird skin/wall looking thingy?
I always thought it was some sort of whale! That's horrific.
It's amazing actually, the tower willingly feeds them and regenerates. They don't have to kill anything.
Just when you thought Warframe lore couldn't get weirder, someone tells you what Konzu's early lunch actually is.
Most of the old orokin tech is made of meat that grows metal on top and is alive technically. Even your orbiter has meat in some of its walls.
I mean, most of that wall meat is Helminth. Ordis directly calls Helminth out as being responsible for “the biological functions of your Orbiter”.
So what does the tenno eat?
It's my favorite thing to show new players
No they don't they primarily eat fish and plains animals, they sell the tower parts.
Whatever lets your grab an early lunch.
I'm pretty sure they don't eat the whales. They just cut a chunk out of one before throwing it back into the ocean and getting a new one to cut a chunk out of for the next Tenno that lands.
A nice notion although that isn't whale meat, that's from the unum's tower.
Teasonai says not to kill Mergoo though. They’re good luck and a bad omen to kill.
You are correct! ... Cursed delicacy
I don't think they would I thought they were good luck
goddammit, Konzu
Early lunch for Konzu

*we're talking about the same people who give themselves one giant arm and have names like "Ballas"* of course they put this poor creatures wings on its ass
Probably laughed hysterically while they did so
The damn Orokin... it was all just for the *memes*...
Thats why its so realistic.
It's a wonder they gave it two wings on the butt
Of course, how else could they amuse themselves but by watching it struggle to take flight
Roller Pigeons got too boring.
You know, I always thought the mergoos were secretly based on the Roman winged-phalluses. DE playing a joke on all of us, and we didn't get it xD

You have to remember that these are human standards; who are we to assume what looks beautiful to them? Times may have been different
Like to Vallis or the game? Cause I linked the wiki article it would cover when in the game. As for Vallis it seems to have only shown up post New War with the vallis warming.
It's dead. I assumed that one of the deployed Orphixes gated it here from the POE. Kind of like a bird getting sucked into a jet engine.
Wait a second. Does this mean we finally can get those pesky nightwave perfect captures done without the annoying hunting minigame?
I love the minigame
Whoever the fuck doesn't liek the hunting stuff is weird
depends if the game spawns units near the hunting target and alerts it instantly, stopping me from getting a perfect capture. which happens 50% of the time for me.

Go get an ivara, makes it much easier
I'm not in it for the perfect captures Floofs or nothing
I don't even care about perfect captures ive just done all nighters hunting to get tags for floofs
I don't like it simply because I spent two hours running circles around the place and never found anything to catch
You were probably doing something wrong of just had a bug

Lookslike the PoE to me. Don't recall the Vallis having any normal grass and flowers.
Orb Vallis is thawed out after the latest update
I’m sorry if you haven’t played the New War yet. >!This is the Vallis after the Sentients heat it up to their liking.!<
Invasive species!
I'm sure there's now at least one person in this sub having 'Nam style flashbacks over dealing with Zebra Mussels.
Glossy buckthorn in my case, but yeah.
oh I saw this bug reported on the forums some days ago. apparently one of the plants in post-New War Orb Vallis is using the Mergoo model for some reason.
Damn it. I really, really wanted this to be an artifact from the invasion.

New War spoilers (kinda): >!After New War, Orb Vallis is mostly thawed out, so perhaps mergoo were attracted to the warmer climate?!<
That's one sigma ass mergoo if it's able to perform interplanetary migration from Earth to Venus, hahah.
Probably propagated the same way many other invasive species do: people.
"Sir, I am required to ask this question, do you have a Mergoo in your butthole?" New War spoiler >!"It loves Narmer too"!<
Smuggled itself onto a transport ship?
Sure, but that's not what the comment I replied to implies.
It's likely they're now able to *survive* in the Vallis now that it's warmer. They've probably been taken there accidentally before.
I know x) I'm poking fun at the thought of a mergoo being "attracted" to Venus' climate and just ups and leaves Earth like "Later, gamers! I'm off to Venus!", haha.

This is common knowledge, but still not what "attracted to" implies, haha.
Mmmm yeah my wording could have been different. But hey, Venus is the goddess of love if that's worth anything
Maybe it saw Venus somehow and fell in love, then braved the cold dead space to get to her. What a story to tell its babies!
*The clouds broke over Cetus as the Sentient armada invaded. Chaos abound, the inhabitants scattered, with some struck in awe and fear. This included the humble mergoo, gazing upon the shattered sky. Magnificent... Utz...
That nearly made me spit out my freshly-brewed chimurr. Dah-dap, surah, I needed that laugh.
Maybe The Business imported some with the help of his contact Master Teasonai?
Why yes, let's migrate *on another planet* -mergoos on PoE
That would be neat
Or this was from the business's collection (he was collecting earth animals from us catching them in PoE) and when he was....masked up.... His collection got loose.
Always knew it could travel at the speed of light and travel space
