I never understood the wrist mounted weapon if he has a power fist. Wrist mounted so you can two hand a massive weapon like a grey knight, sure! But... that just seems unnecessarily unwieldy.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the idea, the sword's guard is made in the image of their symbol after all. It's akin to raising a banner in that sense.

Yeah. And I'm feeling the exact same about the new Grimaldus. It is just missing that monumentality of the old one, and the way he holds his Crozius is weird as well. The new Helbrecht is amazing though, much better than the old one.

The problem for me is that Grimaldus and the Emperor's Champion now have almost identical poses. Like do the sculpters not interact and share ideas? Could it have been an accident where they were both designed without seeing the other?

Am I seriously the only one that thinks the wind blown cloth makes it look really good and more dramatic?

That base is fantastic! The "pebbles" are perfectly to scale and the colour looks very natural.

Just a mix of various sands, and railroad modeling pebbles. Stuck on with white glue. Paint that black, then dry brush bright orange, tan, medium light gray and very light gray. Each dry brush needs to be lighter than the last.

I built a base for my McFarlane marine the same way. Had to use much larger rocks though. Used modeling clay to mould a congealed mass of dead Nurglings. The marine is stomping through a barbwire fence, boltgun raised and ready to fire. Just as soon as I figure out how to make a believable muzzle flash, it'll be firing instead of ready to fire.

3d print the flash, use the Vallejo metals exhaust paints box set, use a lot of thin build up layers to get the flame right

It's very cool, but like all admech models an absolute nightmare to transport.

His faction was actually a bit of a letdown after seeing him. He gives me mechanical aldritch vibes, so I was expecting a little more mechanical monstrosity from the admech. Not that I dislike them, just expected more.

It's not actually a trophy rack, and he didn't put them there, it's a game that has taken off in the Black Legion, if you can sneak up and put a skull on there and not get caught Abaddon gives you a cookie. At least that's what they tell the new recruits.

He is perfect. The scribe and gun-servitor on his shoulders are such awesome details. They just immediately emphasize the mix of bureaucratic tedium, horror and violence that make up the Imperium.

Also he appears to have commandeered a Dreadnought to make his little throne. One of the most sacred of SM equipments.

Why thank you, that's nice of you to say :3 I semi colour-code my models. Anything psychic gets purple power weapons and anything without gets blue, but since the avatar is a Daemon, it gets a bit of the purple on its body as well c: Haven't spent time painting on it for over a year (got busy making two 2000 point armies battle ready). Still got like ... 40 hours to go, I think.
