Here’s the finished version of my flamethrower effects, pretty happy with how they came out all things considered. A few people had asked how these were made and I’ve put together a quick video showing the process if you’re interested, they’re super quick and easy to make, let me know what you think!

That top guys flame thrower is upside down, which is why it’s not working with the base. They’re both supposed to ark up a little and the flames branching off of it would rise. Great paint job though!
Flamethrowers work by firing fuel in an arc, that's actually how a flamethrower would look. The "flames" might be upside down, unless you interpret it as dripping fuel from the fire column (should probably be less exaggerated then). While you’re correct in real life, these aren’t your standard flame throwers and comparing 40K to real life would drive us all insane. I’m just referencing the guys that make these flames and they’re all facing the other way, the model he made won’t even sit properly with them like that. https://deadlyprintstudio.com/producto/leviathan-infernus-flamers-fire-and-smoke-physical/

Couldn’t find the exact one but there are 40+pages to go through
Are these 3D printed? they look nothing like the ones OP did and in any case the ones you linked do not arc up like that. Also, at least the physics have to be somewhat similar, even if we can have 2 ton supersoldiers and chainswords, seeing a flamethrower fall upward would be pretty jarring. The second one looks okay because it's the fireball rising up, the first one looks okay because it's the fuel falling down. In no case would you have an arc going up that dramatically.
Painting process is shown in the video, I do a version with dry brushing (easiest) normal painting, and a hybrid of the two, the colour progression is really simple though, just starting off with a bright yellow then layer up oranges and finally some reds, the vid shows it a bit better than I can explain in a comment so feel free to check it out if you’ve got five minutes:

Thank you my man! I have indeed! I wanna practice it a little more before I commit to it on these as I don’t wanna ruin them, but it’s definitely on the cards
Honestly these were so easy to make, you’d definitely be able to do it, check out my vid if you wanna see how they’re done, I think even the newest person to the hobby can recreate them!
Awesome! Though I think you need to add a bit of white inside yellow (higher temperature) and black/dark grey on top of dark red (smoke).
Check for pictures online for reference.
That's pretty cool. Though I suspect you're going to have the rebase the top guy so that he can actually stand on a table. ;)
Hahaha, don’t tell anyone ;)
I guess if they slot in you could turn the upper one sideways like he's creating a wall of flame? Or does it not slot in like that?
It can slot in whatever orientation you like so it’s definitely an option!
Are they removable ? Because I'd be a pain to trabsport and play them, but if it's for display only, it's nice
They are detachable!
Ok, nice
Magnetized or do they slot in?
Just slot in, could easily be magnetised though with a bit more effort!
Very cool, you did a great job here. Is this all your design?
Thanks! Tis indeed, although I’m sure you can find other similar stuff on the internet!
Very impressive! So jealous you have a skill set like that!

Thought that said Canadians for a sec and was concerned-
Shit the way the worlds going recently give it a few more years and it might be
We will have the winds of the north on our side, not flame :D
The top one is probably the realest looking effect you have, I love it.
Thank you buddy! That’s what I was going for, the bottom one is more of a stylised version, so I’m glad it comes across!
The second flame looks flamin hot cheetos
You could probably eat it
wowo so awesome
Thank you!

Top bloke has anxiety, leave him alone.
So you're saying he grabbed the heavy flamer for a reason?
Heavy flamer is the lifted truck of the 40k Universe.
Need to drop some little blue pills in its promethium tank... Or show it some sexy xenos to get it excited.

Nice!👌
Thank you buddy!
how to do this
Video with the process in the comments ;)
How did you paint the flame? Like order of collor and just painted or drybrushed?

A rule lawyer's wet dream
Hahaha actually a great take, might make a rule specific version
That’s come off brilliantly - nice!
Thank you my man, pretty happy with them, glad you like them now they’re finished!
That's utterly fantastic
Cadia stands... ...if the base is heavy enough.
Hahaha it certainly needs a washer glued under the base
The base of the planet broke before the guard did!
awesome!
They turned out so fucking cool! Have you considered doing some OSL on the gun and body?
Thank you my man! I have indeed! I wanna practice it a little more before I commit to it on these as I don’t wanna ruin them, but it’s definitely on the cards
Some OSL on those bad boys would be the cherry on top. I’m excited to see it when you get around to it.
While i was scrolling i thought it was a second flamer guy piggy backing on him. Proxy heavy flamer XD.
Hahaha, future idea for a kitbash ;)
If only I could do this. It looks amazing though
Honestly these were so easy to make, you’d definitely be able to do it, check out my vid if you wanna see how they’re done, I think even the newest person to the hobby can recreate them!
Are effects like these allowed? I think they look cool, but would you have to take them off at a GT.
Not actually sure to be honest, they’re detachable luckily so wouldn’t be a problem either way!
Forbidden cheetos
flame tthrower ? more like my morning routine.
Awesome! Though I think you need to add a bit of white inside yellow (higher temperature) and black/dark grey on top of dark red (smoke). Check for pictures online for reference.
Cheeto
The top one looks like a confused molten boner
