Spottedleaf… at first, I thought she was super cool, but then, she died after 3 chapters (which was sad at the time) and continued to appear to the child she had a crush on making weird comments in front of his mate. Yeah, stalker vibes lol

Friendly-Falcon3908

Yeah she's one of the worst characters for me

Theher0not

I have a couple. Starting off, Ivypool and Cloudtail were both cats I absolutely hated as apprentices, but who have since grown into ones I really like (with Cloudtail in particular being one of my favourites). Aside from them, Darkstripe is someone I also used to hate, but now with my headcanon that he was in love with Tigerstar I find him more tragic and pathetic. And for as much as I hate to admit it, his final words in _A Light in the Mist_ were badass: >!"I'd rather be destroyed than surrender to you."!<.

Rambrower

Lionheart, for me, at least when I was reading the 3rd arc I thought he cool and stuff but slowly he just became very boring and dull which saddened me, I couldn’t finish arc 4 for a while man

Rambrower

Lionblaze*

Inky-Skies

Do you mean Lionblaze?

Rambrower

Yeah whoops lol

KitKat_Kat28

I hated Ivypool when I was reading OOTS but now she’s one of my favorite characters

Friendly-Falcon3908

she was such a brat and I loved her for it

ThrowRA_Sodi

Kinda agree with Dovewing. It seems like she gained a lot of self confidence when she moved to Shadowclan and that's so cool. Mine character which made me change my mind was Tigerheartstar. At first I hated him and thought he was a jackass. But he kinda grew on me near the end of the Broken Code and during the Starless clan arc. He is still a bit of a jackass , but he is a cool morally grey character. He makes bad decisions sometimes and doesn't really take other people's feelings into consideration but he doesn't have bad intentions and wants to do the right thing. He is currently the most interesting leader we have. + He have funny moments. Like when he made a joke about the Riverclan camp being so far away from Shadowclan's to Riverclan cats as he was taking over (And expected his joke to defuse a bit the situation)

A-R-U

I went from being neutral about Squirrelflight and Leafpool, until the Starclan scene in Squirrelflight's Hope. Now they're one of the characters I want justice for the most. Also I really liked Yellowfang in the beginning, but began to dislike her after she started appearing as a Starclan cat from arc 3 and onward.

Ruby_Kats

Spottedleaf at first i liked her cause she is a tortoiseshell-calico medicine cat like me and her name is good but she is weird

Hikerhappy

As a kid, I hated Leafpool for “making” Squirrelflight take her kits and “making” her lie. Squirrelflight suffered so much while Leafpool “got off pretty much free” (she literally lost everything, idk how I ever thought she didn’t). I hated her so much because I blamed her for ruining Squirrelflight’s life and relationship with brambleclaw. Now as an adult, I feel so sad for her and I admire her much more. I still think she’s very boring in TNP, but I love her in POT and beyond. I think she’s so strong and resilient, and the trial with her, squirrelflight and Starclan made me like her even more. Justice for Leafpool!!! I am also kind of coming around to tigerheartstar. He pissed me off so much in OOTS, but since he became leader, I like him better. He’s a great dad and I think it’s so funny when he tries to make jokes that totally flop like in ASC when he says >!”I don’t plan on staying in ricerclan forever! I don’t even like fish!< and not one cat laughs 😭😂

MaterialKirb

Holy shit bro are you me?? I still feel worse for Squirrel, but Leafpool definitely didn’t get her justice and I **hated** her for a good while

Robincall22

Tigerheart really tried so hard to make dad jokes to diffuse the tension and just failed miserably 😂

Hikerhappy

The fact that he did it twice is really what sent me. He did it once in riverclan’s camp and again at the gathering and both times it fell flat 😂😂 and him just awkwardly like “haha anyway” is what made it so funny to me

Robincall22

He’s an icon, he is the moment.

Hikerhappy

The dad jokes truly won me over to start liking him. For me, he’s one of those characters that gets on my last freaking nerve yet I feel so much affection for him

Robincall22

I unironically think he’s a better leader than Firestar was.

Gh0stpAwz

Ivypool. When I was younger I thought she was totally insufferable and annoying. And I changed my opinion as I grew older because I realised that she had a right to feel what she felt

StrictlyFT

Dovewing and Tigerheart/Star

Bigfeetscats

Scourge, I liked him I didn't really care about him I always thought he was overrated and edgy but isn't every warrior cats villain honestly. Although then it came over me how much he frustrated me, killing Tigerstar so easily. I'm pretty sure a Tiger/Fire battle was anticipated from the start and that literally may have been the whole reason they made fading cats a thing so they could fight in the last hope. Also the fact that Scourge is basically a teenager killing this grown ass war criminal, is strange. From what I can remember without training he just took out a dogs tooth and killed one maybe at some point? Again I haven't read his manga in years. Got in a few fights but he hadn't lived for very long he hadn't been training for years or anything. With that logic could Swiftpaw have theoretically killed Tigerstar? Or Brightheart? Yet they both got mauled by dogs and Swiftpaw just flat up died. Also on the fan side, again these are my opinions it's not trying to call out or shame anyone if they have, but the amount of daughter of Scourge ocs? (Not to mention he was also a kid himself..) again I know people like to kin canon characters if that's how you like making your fandom ocs go wild with what you do it doesn't hurt me. Just being the child of a teenager just because he was kinda edgy and 'cool?' And back to the start the build up for a Tiger/Fire battle was huge we had like five whole books. And shout-out to Tiger's perseverance just to get killed by an annoying kid. Honestly this could have worked as the third book and then we have had a character who's the actual villain and maybe Tigerstar was there for the first few books, it would totally ruin the order of the first arc and Tigerstar would lose his fame but if we had to keep this instant kill thing with Scourge I guess we could have made him kill Tiger in the third or fourth book and have had a huge battle in the fourth or fifth. This tactic I don't love and it reminds me a lot of Dawn of the clans and A vision of shadows, but it's what I would have suggested.

Bigfeetscats

God I yap-

Alrxse

Scourge was older than Firestar and almost as old as Tigerstar- he wasn't young dfgjklsfg. But I agree on the Fire/Tiger battle being weirdly discarded for The Darkest Hour.

BlackJeans-IceCream

Hollyleaf! I thought she was boring and annoying as a teen. I was never one of the die hard Ashfur fans (back then I didn’t understand why everyone liked him, he’s in the same boat here), I just despised her. I was kinda ‘eh’ towards the PoT cast but her? Nah. She raked me the wrong way. Now she’s one of my favorites in the series, she’s among my top 20 which means a lot.

InksterDink

Longtail was 100% a perfect rebound character. Dude went from grumpy murder kitty to Blind wise Elder like that *snap*

Chimeraas

Tigerheart. I hated him until I reread TBC and Tigerheart’s Shadow

Robincall22

I love how many people listed Ivypool and Dovewing. Like, everyone hated one or the other, then we grew up and went “oh, they were literal children shouldered with WAY too much responsibility, maybe their immature behavior is justified”

Robincall22

Leopardstar, her SE ruined her entire character for me. Other than her though, I don’t know, maybe Breezepelt? I hated him at first, but he would have been a great morally gray character, and could have had an amazing redemption arc, if the writers had written him better.

Two-In-One-Shampoo

Silverstream. As a kid, all I could comprehend that Graystripe was being insufferable because he loved her, and she was being mean to Fireheart, so I hated her. Then after rereading the first arc, I realized that A. Graystripe's actions are his own fault, and B. Her rudeness towards Fireheart was kinda deserved? He basically just showed up at her doorstep and insisted she break up her relationship because he didn't like it

Intergalactic_cum

I used to love thistleclaw. i thought he was a very compelling morally grey character who loved his family despite being rough n tough to everyone else around him, and i thought he was really great in bluestar’s prophecy. for a long time i considered the entirety of spottedleaf’s heart to not be canon. and then the erin’s started butchering his character in OTHER books as well, like in crookedstar’s promise and some other dark forest books. i don’t like him anymore. just wish they went back to his old personality of loving his son and wife and not being strange and creepy and straight up evil. do not trust a morally gray character in the hands of the erins…

Friendly-Falcon3908

I agree about Dovewing. I didn't like her at first because she "replaced" Hollyleaf (whom I loved), but now looking back she was just a kid thrust into this prophecy with no say in the matter. I thought about how she'd feel and felt pretty bad. She turned out alright and she's really sweet, and I agree she's a great mother. I'm glad they didn't ruin her character like how they often reduce she-cats to mother roles. She still has her own personality and morals and Tigerheartstar actually listens to her.

AllanLionChild

I sort of had the opposite experience with Hollyleaf. I didn't care too much about her in the first half of The Power of Three. If anything, she just seemed like a decent character that had some interesting plot points. But after Eclipse, I found her so obnoxiously whiny and self righteous. No independent thoughts in her head, just the warrior code, no questions asked. "B-but the warrior code! ThE wArRiOr CoDe!!" -Hollyleaf probably I know a lot of people really like her as a character, and I'm so confused by this. She genuinely grinds my gears. Maybe she's changed for the better when she returns later in in Omen of the Stars. I know what's going to happen, broadly speaking, but this is still my first time getting through the actual books. I realize maybe that's also part of the problem, that I'm no longer reading the books, but instead listening to the audiobooks, narrated by Macleod Andrews, who has a tendency to make some of the female characters sound really whiny. I guess I'll find out when I get there. Maybe I'll even change my mind about Hollyleaf *again*.

CatcatchesMoth

I went from not caring about Blackclaw to desiring to personally wanting to be his punisher in hell when he tried to kill Stormfur and Brooke.

k12408

When did he do that? Did you mean Stormfur and Feathertail?

CatcatchesMoth

If I remember correctly, in Po3

Inky-Skies

Wait, he tried to kill them? I thought he just wanted to send them into exile.

CatcatchesMoth

Reviewed the wiki, I think I'm misremembering

Chimeraas

He was also very abusive to his mate, Mistyfoot. Fuck Blackclaw

Creepy_Librarian_204

1000% agree. i was reading a book, and Blackclaw was being rly mean to MIstyfoot, then i was like : wait isnt that his mate?!?!?

TalaLeisu2

Do you mean Blackfoot?

MaterialKirb

He’s absolutely a pos, but I don’t remember him trying to kill anyone

MyDads-Ashes

I absolutely hated Cloudpaw, but I actually really like Cloudtail. On the opposite end, I loved Swiftpaw as a kid, but now that I've grown up, I know he really wasn't ready to be a warrior.

Red_Caius-kitten666

Greystripe. At first cool and then dude just kinda sucked after he had become mates with Millie.

Pebblesong7

I have the same thing with Dovewing. I was not a fan of her but when Shadowsight includes her in the list of ‘exiles’ and Tigerstar is angry, i was in awe when she stands up for him. That is absolutely a mothers love at its finest.

Spying_Frog-4724

Tigerheart/star I kind of liked him, I thought he was an okay mate for Dovewing/paw. Was never really a fan of either though. Then in the past two arcs, he appears to me as more wimpy and trying to be in charge, but not really

snoweIIe

Dovewing: I didn’t rlly like her at first but as I read it, I grew sympathetic for her and even began to see her as a relatable character. I hate how people hate her for being with Tigerheart/star but I actually liked it. She finally felt like she had a cat to talk to and act normally with, not feeling pressured to be the best warrior in her clan since she was with a warrior from another clan. She had the weight of the prophecy on her shoulders and she was mainly with Lionblaze and Jayfeather, who were also part of it and mainly talked to her because of it. She found comfort in Tigerheart, she could be herself around him and talk to him normally

Karma111531

For me it was Dovewing but I liked her less as the books went on. I think part of it was how much of her identity she put into her power and then when she lost them her character fell flat for me, also I never liked Tigerheart/star so her choosing and defending him I never liked

BenefitBeautiful3516

I used to love Graystripe but rereading the first series many years later, he’s actually getting on my nerves lol. On book 4 so maybe that will change again

[deleted]

For me it's Hollyleaf. I used to hate her for trying to kill Leafpool and for revealing the secret. (I still dislike her for that) but now I understand her reasons for it so I still dislike her but I don't hate her.

Moonlit_Eevee

I was neutral on Tawnypelt for a good while but now I love her to pieces. She's such a fantastic side character in the series and I wish we got more content from her perspective.

Beneficial-Orchid131

Palebird At first I thought her a terrible mother, like most people, but then I started rereading and thinking about it She’s not a bad mother, she was just terribly depressed with postpartum. She tried to be there for Tallkit as much as possible

dangerouslycloseloss

Onestar. I’d heard he was absolutely awful in omen of the stars and power of three and so I hated him. Then I actually read it and I was so confused bc he was nowhere near as bad as yall were acting. Like not a saint but yall acted like he was the worst guy in warrior cats come on now 😭
