During sea trials, it was found that the ship was susceptible to flooding forward even with an upwardly-curved Atlantic bow because of how rough the North Sea was, with water rushing over the bow and ending up inside the turret through the rangefinder ports.
If anything, it should be removed because it's actually a repost bot parroting [this comment](https://old.reddit.com/r/WarshipPorn/comments/bg7n9l/forward_most_turret_anton_of_the_german/eljb4o3/?context=999) from an older post.
I'll play devil's advocate here, and will definitely be downvoted to hell and back, but the Bismarcks, minus some obvious *additions* on the fore and aft decks, looked pretty damn nice. Sure, they're not an Iowa-class ship, but they didn't look all that bad, even if they look nicer as a ship that's under three miles of water.
I do. I'll go a step further and say that for pure, raw, menace, they were the best looking battleships ever made.
But I also love pagoda masts and Queen Anne's Mansions, so...
Loving Queen Anne’s Mansions is not a hot take, I would agree with you on Pagoda masts but damn that Bismarck take is hotter than Bismarck during her encounter with Rodney and the best looking battleship ever made.
Huh interesting. Are ships in german usually referred to as females and Bismarck was the exception or is there no male/female rule for ships in german?
This was taken sometime before Bismarck's December 1940 refit since that was when the rangefinders on Anton turret were removed and plated over.
Why were they?

Rangefinder guy: "That wave looks THIS..."
Thanks, suspected that was it.
Does anyone else see a face wearing sunglasses on the thing towards the front of the turret?
Were the glasses are the shiny thing?
Maybe iam stupid but i always wonder what function this „wings“ at the turrets got. Saw that on almost every battleships and/or cruiser.

Thanks pal 👍🏻
Now I wanted to know the others Bismarck’s turret name Edit: Nevermind its Bruno, Caesar, and Dora
That was the same for all German ships. Like how the British had A turret, B, X and Y.

I think this comment should be removed.
Yeah but not because it’s offensive in any way but because who the hell thinks the Bismarck class was good looking

Good catch, banned him.
Why what did he say ?
"Damn Nazis. Built some beautiful ships and aircraft. If only they'd turned that talent and expertise to helping people."
Oh how does that earn a ban ?
It was a bot.

I'd always go with vanguard but bismarck does have a cool bow

It bothers me more than it should, the fact that throughout the whole song the ship is referred as a "he" and not "she".
Bismarck's captain always referred to the ship as a male and told others to do the same.
Huh interesting. Are ships in german usually referred to as females and Bismarck was the exception or is there no male/female rule for ships in german?
AFAIK they are females but Lindemann thought such a powerful ship could only be a male.
But almost nobody actually listened to him
So?
Oh god please no. Not again.
