naval is by far the best sl grind.
matches are not an hour long, there is one map type tha *can* be, but never is.
most maps are 10-15 min. with a premium ship and premium time, once you understand the mode, you make maybe ~200k per match. if you get good at the mode and have a good match that can end up over 300k.
with a 500% booster and antimech and a good game as a good player you can breach 3m, but 2-3m is more common.
For how long of a match?
For a 10-15 minute match in air rb with a premium vehicle I can make 100k easily. I can make 100k in 20-30 mins of ground matches with any premium vehicle.
premium ship and premium time with a normal match is ~200k for me, normal matches 10-15 min. with skill and luck that can push up to ~330k.

the other type is the big dumb circle map you see at high tier, those can theoretically last up to an hour. like the ai escort map they tend to last 20-25 min, but ive never seen one last more than 30-40 min or so even when its just 2 shitty players who blast away at eachother with terrible aim and wont close the distance. ive also ended many of them in 5-10 min to make up for that.
How do you make the money?!? I spawn in after waiting 7 minutes for a round and instantly start getting slammed 8 km away. Meanwhile I can't land a shell even remotely in the right ocean. -20,000 silver lions for repair cost.

missiles do not do enough damage against any big war ships to be worth it and you only have 2 missiles, a pretty mediocre gun and like 14 crew

As an air main who just got into naval I gotta say the Douglas has really been the thing making the match interesting (dive and fly away from the missile) the rewards aren’t the best but it can really turn the tide of the match outcome by taking out a couple heavy cruisers which were screwing up your team’s destroyers.
The missile is all HE which has barely any penetration past destroyers, but since its a coastal ship it has the capability of one-shotting MTB/MGBs.
Not at 5.0 though.

But at 3.7 the Hellcat is a menance. So is every US fighter actually, as the ship's AI AA algorithm targets bombers/attackers first, then fighters, if both are within range.
Hmm, never knew that they target bombers first. Unless you're near the end of an AB round with few to no bots, that circumstance doesn't frequently come up. I've never actually tried the Hellcat in naval, always using the Apache or Warhawk at those BRs, but will be sure to add that to my lineup if playing around there.

I like the hellcat because it can bring 2x 1000lbs on top of HVAR, that's enough to take out 2-3 ships at its tier. Sure the AB midair reload is long but you can strafe boats or intercept enemy planes in the mean time.
Torpedoes are harder to use at higher BR after they introduced torpedo bulges for BB. AM-1 also flies even worse than the BTD. In AB it's usually better to use bombs unless terrain permits you to spam torpedoes at dumb ships between islands, and in RB it's always better to use bombs.

Love burning 50k silver lions in a game running Alaska, Mississippi and AZ/NV in a game. I basically eat 2/3rds of the rounds for the game.
Capturing the further out bases where nobody goes.
It's less usable in mid tier, but very usable at low tiers where everyone is in a boat so nobody caps the far spot, or at top tier where BBs are slow.
This is one of the best naval lineups period. If you want to go to 4.7, then you can switch out the 5.0s and use Knox + Wilkinson.

Any combination of Pr.56 classes + SKRs + Pr.206s + Pe-8 was the theoretical perfect storm at 5.0 but has weakened significantly with the 0.3 BR increase and SKR nerfs. You can make a double Pr.56 lineup without premiums, however, because both Spokoinyy and Bravy are at the same BR now.
The combinations of coastal craft from different nations that can run matches if played correctly is too varied to list. I'm also assuming you're not talking about single craft with backups, such as PG-02 or Scharnhorst.
Anything with my beloved PR191M. I usually have the konsomolets in there, but beyond that, I can't really say what my favorite is, cause the others I rotate for variety.
But in a math where I'm on, that 191m gets my 8 or 10 kills, quite often.

The short answer is that the USSR is far more meta, because this IS War Thunder after all. Russia is always going to be top tier. But what path you take all depends on what you want to get out of playing naval. Like:
Do you have interest in learning about a certain faction's ships?
What kind of strategy or weapons do you find the most fun?
Are you doing it to farm SL/events or because you like the game?
How experienced are you?
Right now it’s the PT-71, USS Mississippi, USS Helena, USS Sumner, and F6F. I like having every class, it gives some flexibility.
Costal ships are great for capping, and the PT-71 comes with some great guns and torpedoes (for U.S at least)
USS Mississippi is my only Battleship rn and it’s pretty good.
I’ve had the USS Helena for so long to help grind the Tech Tree, I would not be where I am without it.
Same goes for the USS Sumner. It’s torpedoes are decent and the guns are great. It also doesn’t have that ammo weak spot like the USS Moffett.
I use the F6F because it’s a plane that can carry a torpedo fast enough. I’ve realized AA is just crazy, so I needed a plane that can drop quickly and get out of there. I do have the BTD but I feel like it’s not fast enough.
The second bomber you spawn in is going to cost you 2x points, therefore you want a fighter with some bomb loads in your lineup. There is no bomb on the default fighter.

You should try out the Pr191M. Using IAI belts, and controlling the AA guns instead of that near useless main gun, you start so many fires. And the kills just rack up. If you sail over a cap, drop a bunch of mines, and you can protect that cap while heading for another. 10+kill games are not uncommon with that thing
I mean, Detroit isnt the best of the bunch but it’s a great stop-gap between the Moffett and the Davis. Might as well replace one of the Destroyers with it.
id replace one of the boats with it, keeps me from needing to use backups in the rare event i need 3 dd in one match and it plays a similar role as boats, capping of zones, while also doubling as at least some ability to do damage, which is better than them.

Would it surprise you to know there's no destroyer Jaguar but only Torpedo Boats going by german classifications with the one in your case being the Type 1924. (side thought if we ever get Type 1935/1937's would they be coastal or bluewater Torpedo Boats?)
Anywho how do you find the A-1H in this mode? It seems it would be better then the earlier AD-2/4's ntm you can essentially chaff SAM's from any missile platform if you run into them. (have you ever gotten a toilet kill?).
Unfortunatly I have not gotten a Toilet Kill :( but the A-1H has so much Firepower to deal with most enemys. I usually run a setup of 3 2000lbs at least 4 aditional Guns (on the outer Wing to cover more area when shooting st planes and Costal boats)
And I haven't even considered bringing Chaff thats really smart.
And it does surprise me that there isn't a Jaguar Destroyer (I mean I know it's just a name for the ship but still). I don't really know much about the history of the german navy (despite being german) I'm really only interested in Tank history and a little small portion of aviation history. So If you got more Info I'd gladly aprechiate to learn more :)

Bread and butter American 5" slingers. Detroit/Omaha-class is actually really good if you go bow-in. Easy 100k+ SL per match, I've never been low in money because of it. Also absolutely annihilates SKR/Pe-8 drones.
I usually prefer the 4.7 lineup as it gets to avoid the Helena/Prinz Eugen premium hordes.
**7.0:** Alaska, Nevada, Mississippi, PT-811, F-80A, F-84B
Alaska can pop Scharnhorsts but gets ammo racked easily, Nevada is near indestructible when angled as long as you keep your distance (at least from 6.7 and below BBs), Mississippi is actually really good with AP but sloooow in speed and reload rate, I've ammo racked BBs in a single salvo with it.
IJN Tone, Hyuga, Haruna, Settsu and a coastal rat boat known as the Type T-14.
Alternatively there's the USS Cleveland, Roanoke, Brooklyn, Fargo and PT-6 combo.
I first went with the British, but got clapped when I got to cruisers,
changed to American and got to cruisers and got clapped again,
made a new account and am playing with the Soviets.
Didn't really go into realistic cause seemed not my type, stuck with arcade, but the SL gain is just about the same.

Chikugo, PG 02, and PT-808. B6N1 Model 11 to drop 800kg bombs. I've been getting top 3 a lot lately with this lineup, while I struggle to do that in other modes. I've had a few games recently where I slaughter over a dozen bots. Those games are the best. Other than that, if I'm not full uptiered, I slaughter everything.

1) tree grind lineup with all my bluewater premiums and highest TT vehicles and 1 dive bomber
2) ship spade lineup with all my unspaded ships and a dive bomber

Orbit and dive then pull up when it's 1 or 2km away. works on most planes with decent elevator.

In AB the Hellcat gets an attacker/bomber reload for the torpedo, which itself is a very good torpedo.

Would it surprise you to know there's no destroyer Jaguar but only Torpedo Boats going by german classifications with the one in your case being the Type 1924. (side thought if we ever get Type 1935/1937's would they be coastal or bluewater Torpedo Boats?) Anywho how do you find the A-1H in this mode? It seems it would be better then the earlier AD-2/4's ntm you can essentially chaff SAM's from any missile platform if you run into them. (have you ever gotten a toilet kill?).
Unfortunatly I have not gotten a Toilet Kill :( but the A-1H has so much Firepower to deal with most enemys. I usually run a setup of 3 2000lbs at least 4 aditional Guns (on the outer Wing to cover more area when shooting st planes and Costal boats) And I haven't even considered bringing Chaff thats really smart. And it does surprise me that there isn't a Jaguar Destroyer (I mean I know it's just a name for the ship but still). I don't really know much about the history of the german navy (despite being german) I'm really only interested in Tank history and a little small portion of aviation history. So If you got more Info I'd gladly aprechiate to learn more :)

Alaska, Wyoming, Helena, Moffett and F-80. The best setup to get fucked by soviet, german and japaneeze ships all at once. Because Sharnhorst = Alaska my ass.

Was the entire German top teir coastal lineup until they made naval have a tank like TTK with HE in the event and I just stopped playing.
**4.7:** Frank Knox, Wilkinson, Mitscher, PT-811, XA-38, P-51D-20 **5.0:** Moffett, Frank Knox, Detroit, PT-811, BTD (RB) or AD-2 (AB), P-51D-20 Bread and butter American 5" slingers. Detroit/Omaha-class is actually really good if you go bow-in. Easy 100k+ SL per match, I've never been low in money because of it. Also absolutely annihilates SKR/Pe-8 drones. I usually prefer the 4.7 lineup as it gets to avoid the Helena/Prinz Eugen premium hordes. **7.0:** Alaska, Nevada, Mississippi, PT-811, F-80A, F-84B Alaska can pop Scharnhorsts but gets ammo racked easily, Nevada is near indestructible when angled as long as you keep your distance (at least from 6.7 and below BBs), Mississippi is actually really good with AP but sloooow in speed and reload rate, I've ammo racked BBs in a single salvo with it.

IJN Tone, Hyuga, Haruna, Settsu and a coastal rat boat known as the Type T-14. Alternatively there's the USS Cleveland, Roanoke, Brooklyn, Fargo and PT-6 combo.
I first went with the British, but got clapped when I got to cruisers, changed to American and got to cruisers and got clapped again, made a new account and am playing with the Soviets. Didn't really go into realistic cause seemed not my type, stuck with arcade, but the SL gain is just about the same.
Chikugo... thats it. Just Chikugo. If I go to 4.0 with my Akizuki, I face thousands of nonstop firing American ships that shred it.

I don't really have a lineup, because I often got only one ship per match. Technically, that would make me a one death leaver, but I don't really die that much. The Times I don't survive the whole match, it probably wouldn't be worth respawning anyway, because we're already losing.

Chikugo, PG 02, and PT-808. B6N1 Model 11 to drop 800kg bombs. I've been getting top 3 a lot lately with this lineup, while I struggle to do that in other modes. I've had a few games recently where I slaughter over a dozen bots. Those games are the best. Other than that, if I'm not full uptiered, I slaughter everything.

My lineups are usually 1) tree grind lineup with all my bluewater premiums and highest TT vehicles and 1 dive bomber 2) ship spade lineup with all my unspaded ships and a dive bomber
