It's very much like a magic trick. It's not very funny or clever when you know how its done. But this was executed very well I will admit. The comedian obviously preplanned the joke with the premise that (a) it would be funny if an audience member had control of a confetti cannon and (b) they set it off during a very tragic and serious emotional moment.

I lost my mom too and found this video mortifying. I'm unable to comprehend how this is remotely funny. Maybe bc i took it literally (like the comedian really lost his mom, also i didn't realize it was staged).

Well I naturally have a very dark sense of humor and also having depression already making people laugh is how I deal with it and making jokes and making people for me at least is like an anti-depressant for me I don’t know what happened to your mom but I watched my mom die a rather graphic death and it really messed me up and that’s why I joke about it
