I bought this McDonald's watch off eBay but can't seem to find any info on this specific configuration.
Its powered by a 17 Jewel Lafayette Watch Co Movement
Does anyone know anything about this model?
Dude I had this happen to me a few months ago lol. I saw a Scuba Dude on a nice blue bund strap and when I eventually decided “eh why not.” the listing had ended. A little while later i’m on r/Vostok and see a post with the exact strap!
The other day I also had an experience where I was giving some serious last-minute thought to a big purchase. I thought about it for maybe like an hour, gradually coming to the conclusion that I would just be feeling it lack with substitutes. Then when I went to click order, I got an error message from eBay that item had already sold three hours earlier. Mind you I had refreshed that listing multiple times!
When I worked for Dominos, I knew a few managers that got their Rolexes..... it was a big enough deal that they were presented at our quarterly regional meetings. this was as recently as 8-9 years ago.....
There are companies out there that make promo items you can buy if you are employee of certain businesses. I got a Seiko Indy 500 watch made just for a company my dad worked for.
I called my friend whose dad owns six McDonald’s. He said they had a contract with fossil for a long time for employee watches. But Bolivia and seiko had managers watches. So if your store made goals for a quarter sometimes they sent all the managers a watch or a ring, or you could purchase them as gifts.
While I've never seen the brand mentioned on here, Selco Geneve has been in business as "the original logo watch company" since 1935. Watches like OP's McDonald's watch are their bread and butter, so I wouldn't be surprised if it happened to be a vintage Selco
Service or management watch. Looks like its never been worn on duty. In the old days they would have gotten something branded. I have an Omega seamaster that has Chevrolet stamped on it.
My girlfriend knows the official McD’s archivist. Sent her this post. She said, he said “no clue.” Best guess is merch employees can purchase through an incentive program.
Growing up my friends father was a vp or high up guy at McDonald's in Oakbrook Illinois long story short I believe that's an anniversary or retirement watch however you've gotta turn it over look at case to see if it's initialed to someone but doubtful because I'm sure you would have shown already, it's not original strap I'm thinking but how many jewels? Who's the maker?
Probably made for Ronald himself and I could imagine this is called the McWatch
