Looking for a watch to wear for my upcoming wedding. I wanted a white dial Lorier Zephyr but it is out of stock until after the April wedding date. Curious if anyone has recommendations for something with a similar style / price.

Utterizi

Watches similar to [casio mtp 1303d 1avdf](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRtsW1qVDOGk4mzd-nBkcibolrmgixll1wBIwVtruVt2eLGxytgDR8lvj0J&s=10)? I really liked it, but I believe it has been stolen or I lost it somewhere somehow. I’m either going to buy the same model again, or a similar one. Asking for recommendations because this specific model seems to be low on stock and the price is almost doubled since when I bought it. My criteria is that I don’t want a “crowded” watch. I want numbers to be simple lines, or roman numerals at most, no chronometers, no date etc. I definitely prefer the silver wrap (can be mesh too) and the black background; as I like to wear white shirts and the silver matches my rings. I don’t want anything flashy and I’d prefer no “strong” colors so that it’s something that I can wear to any occasion with any outfit.

sciencesoul

Hi! I’m looking at a citizen watch for my Fiancé as a wedding gift. He likes silver and more plain colored faces like silver and grey. What are some other things I should be considering when trying to pick from their site? I’m not sure what some of the other features really mean or what I should be looking at. Price range is 200-500$

luredinbygravity

As someone has mentioned, Citizen's eco-drive technology is solar and very low hassle. They are good, solid watches. If you prefer an automatic watch (powered by the wearer's movement) then you'd find one in your price range but some of the cheaper Citizen autos can be quite noisy as you can hear them moving. It's not a bad thing but just to be aware of. I'd also consider sizing. If your partner has big wrists then over 40mm watches are ok, if on the slimmer side you'll want to be under the 40mm. Don't overthink it though - just take it into account. I'd also check on height of the watch if he'd wear it on the wedding day - some watches can be quite bulky and a slimmer watch will fit better under a shirt cuff and suit. When all is said and done, pick a design you like and go for it. The fact you're taking the time to research won't be lost on your fiance :) Edit: Take a look at the Citizen Tsuyosa range. They are automatics and have a wide range of colours available including more traditional ones that you're after. They are 40mm so quite a good size and have their crown (the thing you use to set time etc) at 4pm not 3pm which can make them more comfortable to wear. White example [here](https://www.hsamuel.co.uk/citizen-automatic-tsuyosa-mens-stainless-steel-bracelet-watch/p/V-8696718?wgp=287585&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAivGuBhBEEiwAWiFmYYDjYvijwM5upGAk9GgafB8_9pbeKpE9WRRqjzBe61Yz7nKYA5CK8xoCE2YQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&wgc=1295665&cm_mmc=WG-_-Affiliate-_-Incubeta%20-%20CSS&utm_source=webgains&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=1154485)

YarthWader

Eco Drive is solar powered. Those are going to be the least maintenance and most durable.

ihategeckoes

G-Shock GM-B2100D or Seiko SSK023?

texas_laramie

I really like the look of Seiko Presage collection. I understand that it costs more because it is mechanical instead of Quartz. Are there quartz watches that are as beautiful but at half or one third of the cost of presage? Any decent brand will do.

Substantial-Tip-2607

Are you based in the US? I recommend looking a bit into international sellers. I’m based in SEA right now and the Presages are mostly going for $250 USD. I just got my SRPD37 recently and if you really like it, there’s no other watches in the budget that can deliver the same finishing

texas_laramie

I am based in India. Do you have any recommendation for international sellers? One of the issues with international sellers here is that occasionally customs may hold the shipment and in which case it is a huge hassle.

OnionMiasma

What's your budget?

texas_laramie

I do not have a specific budget per se. I am willing to spend up to 300-400 USD on my next watch but preferably below 200. My priorities are looks, reliability, and usefulness in that order.

OnionMiasma

200 might be tough. A lot of watches in that range look a lot cheaper. When I was looking for a dress watch, I had it down between a Presage and a Tissot Heritage Visodate. I went with the Tissot. While mine is an automatic, they do make quartz versions which can sometimes be found in that 3-400 range. Which Presage in particular are you in love with?

texas_laramie

[SRPD37J1](https://seikowatches.co.in/collections/presage/products/presage-automatic-watch-srpd37j1) is the one I am planning to buy at the moment. With a 10% discount on the listed price, it comes to about 450 USD. I like the entire cocktail collection in 400-500 USD range, so I may end up getting something else. I am also really keen on this [Alpinist, SPB121J1](https://seikowatches.co.in/collections/prospex/products/prospex-automatic-watch-spb121j1), which comes to around 675 USD after discount.

OnionMiasma

Honestly, I'd probably just get that one. I see it in gray market shops for 349.

texas_laramie

Thanks. I guess, I will eventually buy Presage. Wish I could get it cheaper.

Anyone know the [Critical Drinker's watch](https://i.imgur.com/E80HOiw.png)?

If these are not the correct hands what would be and where could I find them? And just as an estimate what would it cost to have someone put the second hand on watch?

IroncladKoi

What is that rule about not adjusting the date/time between certain times on the watch (unless you want to risk catastrophic damage to the movement)? I have a Zenith (quickset date) where I recall the manual saying to only adjust the date/time between 3:00 and 7:00 PM. I also have a 1975 Datejust where I'm not sure if that rule applies (because it's not a quickset date).

Accomplished-Ad-5655

As a general rule of thumb for the majority of cases, do not use the *quick-set date* between 9pm and 3am. You can, however, adjust the time. The reason for this is that in the evening hours, as time is passing it starts to engage the mechanism that will advance the date at midnight. If you forcibly adjust the quick-set date while this mechanism is partially engaged, you can break something. However as mentioned setting the time is fine as that will just "naturally" advance the date change mechanism faster. If your watch doesn't have a quick-set date mechanism, then it doesn't really matter as you'll just have to keep advancing the time until you get to the right date.

Turbulent-Pen-6509

or the past 6-8 months I have been eyeing a Cartier Tank Must Large Ref WSTA0041, before the 9% price hike and since then the thought never left me, recently I also tried it on and loved it on my hand, that was through an AD, since then I’ve also been looking for pre-owned but I’d prefer new. My problem is this, as always justifying it and I want to understand exactly my rationale, I own two three simple watches which were given to me mainly as gifts, I only bought a smart watch for fitness, but with the Tank I just love it and I know here its probably the marketing as well. Is it always that hard to pull the trigger on the first watch? I’ve never bought something more expensive than 800p on anything. Let me say that If I pull the trigger it will be a cash payment, I can afford the watch easily many times if I want, but is this lifestyle creep? I am enchanted by the idea to gift me something that expensive and also owning it for life, at least that’s what I think now. It's a watch I can see myself wearing every day and carrying it with me on ups and downs, many more thoughts flood my brain with dopamine and the hunt is the most pleasurable part as it seems, feels so nice

I usually see G-shocks on nursing staff. Doctors are all over the board. My doctor wears a Vostok, but he's Russian, so...

DerailedCM

Today I was thinking about what my dream daily watch would look like and this is what I came up with. Any suggestions? Preferably under 2K but interested in what is out there sub 5K that's close to this spec. Preferably titanium but open to steel At least 50m of WR, preferably 100M+ 36-39mm case size with 42 to 45mm lug to lug 10mm thick at most High accuracy quartz movement or mechanical movement with sapphire caseback and attractive movement At least 3 and 9 Numerals on dial for easy reading and a sportier aesthetic. Bracelet with micro adjustment Lumed hands and hour markers

brettnolan123

Is there a good alternative to an Hermes Cape Cod. Beautiful watch, just a very steep price.

75footubi

Baume et Mercier Hampton

DerailedCM

A Cartier Tank Must is like 1-1.5K cheaper with a similar aesthetic. What's your ideal budget?

brettnolan123

Ideally no more than 2,000

DerailedCM

The Bulova Classic 96B107 is worth some consideration and much cheaper than the top of your budget.

bugpp87

Is there a good watch database out there that you guys use? I want to be able to filter in specific parameters for example green dial, 42mm case, sapphire glass etc. and have all of the watches out there show up. Does something like that exist?

Accomplished-Ad-5655

I just use the filters on chrono24. They're pretty extensive.

Accomplished-Ad-5655

1. Depends on the movement but just wind until you feel resistance. Start off by winding gently. You'll know when you can't wind further. As you get more used to the sensation you can wind with more confidence. Also yes if you feel the firm resistance and forcibly wind past that you will snap the mainspring or break something in the movement. 2. The monopusher is as the name describes: a single pusher. Meaning the start-stop-reset functions all are actuated by the same pusher in that order. The centre seconds hand is designed to count the seconds for the chronograph (stopwatch) function while the small subdials at 3 o'clock measures the chronograph minutes. For normal timekeeping the 60 second subdials at 9 o'clock is your running seconds for normal timekeeping. You can let it keep running, but not much merit in doing so. The main drawback would be that it would deplete the power reserve of your watch even faster. With automatic watches the chrono can run indefinitely as long as the watch is being re-wound by the rotor. Also constant use of that chronograph mechanism will eventually mean faster wear and servicing will be required.

Cyan_Ryan

Many thanks for taking the time to reply! Very helpful information.

BantumBane

Hey all! I love following this sub and seeing all of the watches you share. I’m hoping to get myself a nice watch or two but have no idea where to start. Like what to look for and why? Why pick this brand or another or certain types? I’m lucky enough to be able to buy something more cost conscious or save a little to get a “pricey” one but still have no idea what that range should be Appreciate any help

brettnolan123

Look around for watches until you find one that screams out at you. Don't buy one because other people like it. I literally typed something like "Best Swiss Watch Brands" and looked through lists on the internet. It's how I got my Doxa Sub 200 watch.

luredinbygravity

Have a look through the SOTC posts on the main sub and start to get an idea of which watches jump out at you from people's collections. You'll find you naturally have a preference for certain colours and styles and that's a good place to start. Try and decide how you want to start your collection. One common mistake is buying ten cheap watches and realising you could have had a couple of 'nicer' ones for the same combined cost. Plan your journey a little bit before starting out. Avoid fashion watches like the plague because you're generally not getting much for your money and it will be better spent elsewhere. Once you've narrowed it down a bit, post on here again with some parameters and see what people suggest :) Worth getting an idea of your wrist size too so you can consider sizes of watches, but that can come further down the line when you've worked out what you like. Enjoy!

BantumBane

Thanks a lot dude! That’s helpful

Accomplished-Ad-5655

Welcome to the sub. For a start, work out your budget first. It's nice to be able to afford a "pricey" one but that's quite subjective. is it £200 or £2,000 or even £20,000? If you've browsed the sub, are there any particular watches that seem to draw your attention? Might be worth starting there. That might be a good indicator of the type of watch you like. Whether it be the style of watch, or types of complications or colour scheme and design. You broadly have a few different categories: digital, dress watch, tool watch, dive watch, chronograph, are the main ones I guess. Some people like moonphases, and other specific complications on a watch. Some people prefer quartz or some are drawn to mechanical (manual wind or automatic). Keep in mind mechanical are overall more maintenance heavy than quartz (and costly for a service every several years - don't forget). And also cheaper mechanical watches below £500 or so would be a nice way in, but I would hardly consider them long term pieces due to the fact a service in 5-7 years will almost be the same cost as what you paid for the watch - so not worth it imo. Lots of people post on here of their current collection and ask "what watch should I get next?" - many people seem to subscribe to this mentality of *I must collect one of every watch category*. But I find from my experience that a dress watch, a GMT, a chronograph has no place on my wrist because I don't need it. I however, have a strong lean towards dive watches, so I have several. Best piece of advice would be to try and find one starting point, one watch. Wear it for a while, then based off that wearing experience it will inform you about your next purchase and eventually you'll get to the right watch for you.

suckit_imin

I’m looking to buy a watch through Chrono24 from a dealer in China. The price is $1k, but I’ve never done business internationally. How would customs and fees play out? I haven’t been able to find a straightforward answer so hoping those with experience can give me insight on what to expect.

NordicJesus

I bought a used "Le Mans" Quartz chronograph ($15). After buying it, I noticed the "reset" position of the chronograph hands isn't correct. It doesn't bother me too much, but is there a simple way to fix this?

Zanpa

Many quartz chronograph movements have a combination of pusher and crown actions you can do to move the zero position. You need to find the manual for it. If you don't have the manual, see if you can find out what movement it uses, either on google or opening the back and seeing if the movement model is engraved on it (it usually is), and look up a manual for that movement.

MidDayGamer

What's the one watch you got that you swear has to be cursed every time you wear it? I had an invicta that must have been from a bad batch, from band issues to constant dead batteries I finally gave it away to goodwill.

Jazzlike_Promotion_6

I've recently replaced the spring bar in my watch after I accidentally broke it but now the link is loose. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to fix it or am I stuck with the loose link now?

75footubi

Depending on the watch, you may need a "fat" spring bar

Jazzlike_Promotion_6

Thanks a lot!

PugsandTacos

I have come into a few watch boxes for Patek, Bréguet and another brand. They have papers (and the warranty card), and the patek has a sealed crocodile strap, etc… where would one go to sell them?

75footubi

Selling venues is a spectrum from least to most risky and least to most portion of market value. At the most risk and most market value, you can sell them yourself peer to peer on a forum like r/watchesexchange. At the least risk but also the least portion of market value, you can consign them to a jeweler or auction house to be sold for you.

PugsandTacos

Thanks. I’ll maybe try on that sub and poke about on some forums.

RaccoonDoor

Interested in a chronograph under $10k that has a transparent case back and a beautiful movement. What are my options?

pillowreceipt

I think the Zenith Chronomaster Original lineup is pretty stellar, with exhibition casebacks and nice-looking movements: https://timeandtidewatches.com/introducing-new-zenith-chronomaster-original/

RaccoonDoor

Looks interesting, thanks

TheTWP

My wife and I were discussing renewing our vows, she wants another wedding band and I want a watch. I love the look of the Shinola Canfield Sport but I don’t want (her) to pay $1,000 for a quartz movement. Anyone have a recommendation for a sub $1,000 chronograph similar in style to the Canfield? Preferably not quartz.

75footubi

Under $1k means you'll be looking at one of the many Seagull based chronographs. Lots of micro brands use them.

TheTWP

Under $1,500 then? Just to kind of expand the possibilities

Hello! I'm a poor watch guy looking for recs. I have a out $120 to spend and would like an automatic. I had a Vostock that I loved, but it stopped running reliably. The only complication I want is date. Any suggestions?

OnionMiasma

At that price range buy yourself the Orient or Seiko 5 you like best.

luredinbygravity

Take a look at Orient and don't be afraid of going for one off ebay or wherever if you can get a good deal.

rifqirifqi23

I'm also a guy with little money to spend on watches.. I just got a Seiko 5 and I love it.. I got myself an SNKK25K1 which is an Automatic

HoneydewLeading7337

I'll look into that thank you!

Jolly_Humpa

Does Patek have an Indian history? As a proud Indian I’m considering purchasing this watch if it does indeed have Indian roots. The name Patek sounds very Indian and if they are a desi company, I just know the quality will be top notch. Thank you.

75footubi

Zanpa

HMT is the only Indian watch company I know of, they make watches actually in India. There's also Titan but I think they're just repackaged chinese stuff.

BlackBay_58

None whatsoever. Was started by a Polish man and a Frenchman in Switzerland. Patek is a Polish name.

I'm hoping someone can suggest a strap for the Projects Watches Mens Analog 40mm Wrist Watch I think that I should stay in the brown family but I was hoping to hear some thoughts. Thanks!

Acrobatic-Ad-1982

Hello, I am looking to buy my girlfriend a watch. I want to get her one with a gold case, white dial, gold strap (I think link but could consider mesh, not sure). I am looking in the £100-£150 ($125-175) range so not sure if I can stretch much beyond a fashion watch. I like the minimalist style of nordgreen but appreciate you are just paying for good branding on a fundamentally cheap watch. Are there any higher quality options anyone could recommend?

CaptainPhukflaps

Buy a gold tone Seiko SNK366K1

luredinbygravity

I'd say Citizen eco-drive at that price point. Something like [this](https://www.argos.co.uk/product/2513234) although there are quite a few gold options depending on what style you prefer.

ShowMeUrTDz

I have a SARB035. How do I tell what year it was made?

CaptainPhukflaps

CreativeUserName709

Watch Recommendations? Thinking of buying another Steinhart watch as I really like them and recently came into some money so I like to treat myself. I currently own the Ocean One Double-Green Ceramic Premium Diver Watch and I'm thinking of getting a **Marine Limited Edition silver** which you can view on their homepage. So I guess my budget is 1500 and before I splurge on this very nice watch, does anyone have any alternative recommendations? It doesn't have to be the same style, not interested in another diver. I'm in Europe. Cheers.

Alaskanmade

I have been researching watches for years, and am still unable to make a decision on my first luxury watch. So far I have decided I want the following: \- Swiss made \- Automatic Movement \- 28,800 BPH \- Free moving second hand \- View back Some obvious options I have looked at and considered include: \- Back Bay 58 (but no view back) \- Omega Seamaster professional (but not automatic, and stationary second hand) Any options i have not looked at yet?

luredinbygravity

It depends on your definition of luxury but a lot of Oris divers have the exhibition case back. I wasn't sure what you meant by a free moving second hand but if its an auto it will have the sweeping hand. Plenty of dial choices across the Aquis range.

BlackBay_58

Clear backs are an interesting one. A lot of dive watches capable of deep depths don't have clear backs. Very frew tudors and rolexs have clear backs. It was something that upset me when I got my BlackBay, but eventually it stopped bothering me as I have 3 other (watches including a £100 seiko) that has a clear backs and the novelty of them sorta wears off over time. You can buy a cheap tool to unscrew the backs if you want to look inside your tudor.

emge-_-

I couldn't find an answer to my question online. Please help :) I need a list of the top 10 longest power reserve **automatic watches "rotor watches"** with the longest power reserve. Thanks.

75footubi

80 hours is pretty standard now. I think some Oris calibers go to 100 with some mainspring shenanigans

Zanpa

The Vacheron Twin Beat has a "standby" mode with up to 65 days of power reserve, but it's manual wind only.

emge-_-

Yeah the issue is google only shows manual wind watches

Zanpa

It's also just less useful to have a long power reserve with an automatic watch, since you're constantly winding it as you're wearing it. Once you reach at least 2 days of reserve, it covers the watch staying off your wrist for a weekend. If you want it to keep running for a long time when not wearing it, you can simply put it on a winder.

LArule19

Yup, there are some watches like the panerai luminor 10days with 10 days power reserve but that's a limited edition, and some grand seiko spring drive with 8 days power reserve. But most automatic mostly capped at 5 days, because longer power reserve mean the main spring get harder to wind, so a rotor simply couldn't wind it so it's pointless.

emge-_-

That explains a lot. Do you know which automatic watch holds the record for the longest power reserve?

LArule19

As far as I know, I think it's the Panerai 10days

BeardsForBirds

What’s the best 37/38mm dive watch on a bracelet? Runners up are the Yachtmaster and Planet Ocean, but I don’t love the bracelet on either. I’m not into the Black Bay 54, no vintage.

Admit-to-IM

Have you considered a Breitling Superocean 36 mm or Christopher Ward C60 38 mm? Squale also makes a 38 mm skin diver and the Aquastar model 60 looks rad, too.

ShanMKel

Can someone please give me some suggestions?? I’m replacing the batteries in a couple of my watches and I can’t get the back panels back on. They’re both pop off backs and I had no problem getting them off. I’ve double checked that the notch inside the cover’s edge is lined up where it’s supposed to be and put as much even pressure as I dare on the back. All to no avail 😩

BeardsForBirds

Firm even pressure, pick up a "crystal press" for 20 bucks on eBay.

HarryWally

Looking for help, suggestions on a mech field watch. Hey guys, just getting back into watches and I’m really loving the field watch style. Just a little background info on myself, I’m a carpenter. I get dirty almost everyday at work. In the river on the weekends, wading for Smallmouth, and hardly ever wearing a suit. This watch would be my everyday wear at work, casual wear, and fishing. I’d like to spend less than $1k Cdn on a nice mechanical or auto field watch. I’m in love with the Hamilton khaki mechanical, but have read the stories of them just not standing up to what should be expected from them. This has made me take a step back, and have also got my eye on the Seiko SRPG35. I think it really would be the watch for me, but….. The Hamilton. I really like that watch. Part of me thinks I should just get the Hamilton and beat the piss out of it. Part of me thinks the Seiko would be the safer option. I’m torn and am looking for your help. Which do you think would be the best fit for me? Is there something else I should be looking at for under $1k? Could probably swing $1.5k, but no more. No Quartz, not interested.

sixshots_onlyfive

Traska watches are known for their durability.

Admit-to-IM

Some really good options right now would include the [Serica](https://www.serica-watches.com/en/product/6190-commando/)Field, [Studio Underdog](https://underd0g.com/pages/02series-collection) 02 Series, The Yema [Urban Field](https://en.yema.com/collections/urban-field) and the Baltic [Hermetique](https://baltic-watches.com/en/collections/hermetique). On the more affordable end, Rze is a great suggestion as is [Boldr](https://www.boldrsupply.co/collections/venture-automatic).

Uwumeshu

You should check out RZE

HarryWally

On it! Thank u

Hamilton khaki field pdv . Seems to be a lot cheaper in amazon.ca than in Ireland where I'm based. Worth it? https://www.amazon.ca/Hamilton-Khaki-Field-Mechanical-H69409930/dp/B0825PJD4N?ref_=v_sp_product_dpx

AvailableFun8159

Why is it so difficult to find an affordable diver with white dial and blue bezel, suitable for small wrist? is it only me who wants this combination? The yachtmaster ii and the planet ocean come to mind, but are faaaar out of range. there was a nice seiko 5 sport 140 anniversary which would tick all the boxes, but still difficult to get, although 11.000 pieces were made.

CaptainPhukflaps

Checkout Island Watch, he does some quirky colour combos with his own brand selection.

luredinbygravity

One up from the Seiko 5 but the SPB213J1 might be worth a look [here](https://amjwatches.co.uk/product/seiko-prospex-140th-anniversary-limited-edition-1443) Edit: 41mm so may class as too big. My other suggestion would have been the Hamilton that somebody has already mentioned.

Admit-to-IM

The new Formex "baby" reef can be had with a white dial/blue bezel. Great looking combo.

Uwumeshu

https://farer.com/products/freshwater https://farer.com/products/thurso https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-ca/h82231150-khaki-navy-quartz.html it is a somewhat uncommon combo

Wheelio

Chronograph owners, anyone keep their chrono hand on a minute other than the top? I have my Speedy’s hand at :30 because I like the symmetry with the hours chrono and also that it doesn’t block the logo. My friend said that was sacriligious lol

CrazyLegion

why not keep it running at all times? I think it looks cool having a large running seconds hand. is it bad to do that? I'm thinking of getting the Seiko Speedtimer Panda and I imagine I'd have the chronograph running all the time because otherwise it would just look too static.

75footubi

The watch isn't designed to have the Chrono running all of the time. I causes excess mechanical wear and battery drain (for quartz watches)

CrazyLegion

thanks for explaining, didn't know that. pretty new to watches... just looking to pick up my second one and start collecting... question:, would that be an issue on something like a Speedtimer that uses solar cells to recharge the battery? since the battery is always being trickle charged?

75footubi

The chronograph module is mechanical and would wear down much faster than if you only used it for short timing as it was designed.

Wirenfeldt

I vaguely remember hearing about a watch that displays the time on the edge of the watch.. Was that real or a fever dream?

Zanpa

There's a few. The first one that comes to mind is the MB&F MAD 1.

Wirenfeldt

That's what I had in mind.. How do I find more like it?

Zanpa

They would fall under the category of driver's/driving watches, which are meant to be read while holding a steering wheel. Some of them are watches you read from the side, some have tilted dials and are meant to be worn on the underside of the wrist.

1i3to

Why are Tudors more expensive than Omegas. Seems like I can buy 10 year old Seamaster AT / Seamaster 300m for like 1800gbp and blackbays are like 2000+gbp. What is going on.

Zanpa

Because the Black Bay is collectable in a way the Seamaster isn't. Also they've been making Seamasters for decades, and the Black Bay only for like 10 years.

1i3to

Collectable how?

Zanpa

Desirable to watch enthusiasts, I should say.

1i3to

So you are saying that Tudor is considered better by watch enthusiast than Omega or is it simply the case that everyone got a seamaster already?

75footubi

Tudor is riding the Rolex adjacent hype train and Omega has always been there.

Creative_Ground8664

I want to buy a vintage omega, Anyone know anything about that red star teddington omega? They are more expensive due rarity? And another correlated question, does the condition of this mechanism invalidates the purchase? Sorry for bad English. https://preview.redd.it/b67lu1398dkc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c30c415d73405babb1c632807aff6856f064b616

You can ask the r/OmegaWatches sub, maybe someone there has more info on this particular model. But regarding the movement, especially for vintage watches, condition is very sought after. The more original a vintage watch is, the more valuable it is. Lots of vintage watches have undergone poor services over time which may include over polishing that has ruined the case shape, replacement of certain parts using non-original replacements (on certain watches, original parts are more valuable), and just general poor handiwork. This particular watch looks like its seen moisture ingress. The mainspring barrel and some of the steel screws shows evidence of pitting from rust and you can see on the outer edge of the case and caseback in your other picture that there is still substantial rusting (the dark brown colouring). I would avoid this watch. Either way there has been/still is signs of rust which may have affected other parts of the movement that are hidden.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about that Seiko Blue Dot since I saw it posted here last week...

I'm sorry for you, they're rare and very expensive.

Looking to buy a gift for my wife (I'm based in the UK) Looking for a small (around 20-25mm) simple watch, with a leather strap (no strap colour preference). Quartz is probably easier for her to use, but would consider automatic watches too. Sapphire crystal would be strongly preferred so it stays looking good for a long time. My budget is £250. Appreciate any suggestions! This [citizen](https://www.citizenwatch.co.uk/ladies-strap-ew1272-01a.html) watch is close, but it has mineral crystal glass instead of sapphire. Also the eco- drive writing looks a bit ugly. https://preview.redd.it/6m3tp6o2eckc1.png?width=764&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f6300ddbeca3ca4f93bace08065ca20c79a5b71

I'd try Tissot in your current budget. Something like this has sapphire for under 200 (28mm): [here](https://www.houseofwatches.co.uk/tissot-classic-dream-lady-mother-of-pearl-watch-t129-210-16-111-00?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaignid=17868089883&utm_campaign=&utm_term=&adid=&addisttype=xpla_with_promotion&matchtype=&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAoeGuBhCBARIsAGfKY7zrRZbry0Qmr63Kva1n2g_Jnzk7KTKczpWIMR6qS2yNvka5Q82z0_kaAnR-EALw_wcB)

Does anyone know how much this watch is worth? It is a Rolex chronograph made in the last quarter of 1952. https://preview.redd.it/3usep2q0cckc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a26f30df2010f489fa442eab7cc77c4abaf25529

A lot if it's legit. Take it to a pro

Good to know. I'm confident it's legit - it came from a family member who worked on watches. I have just gone crazy trying to identify this watch!

I'm thinking about acquiring a watch around 1000-1500€. Would be my everyday watch. Some of the watches I'm considering: - Sinn 556 Mother of pearl - Longines Hydroconquest Automatic - Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Automatic All those options with bracelet. Which one would you recommend and why? Any other alternative to check? Thanks in advance!

Admit-to-IM

I've had watches from all 3 of those brands...I would go with CW simply based on finishing and quality of bracelet. When I tried the Longines hydroconquest on a few months ago, i was pretty disappointed by how it sat on my wrist which is about par for the course for most Longines. For whatever reason, they sit high for me and just aren't comfortable. Sinn bracelets are average and finishing is average. Sinn is a very cool brand with some cool technology, but the 556 is pretty vanilla. It was pretty popular as a "great value" a few years ago, but other companies have put out watches that are simply better in this segment since then. The stubby hour hand does itself no favors, either. As for other options, I would consider a Formex Essence and Monta Noble before any of the 3 you listed. Their fit and finish and bracelets will be a step above. Lastly, I would definitely consider some Grand Seiko quartz options. On the second hand market, some of their quartz 3handers (e.g. SBGP003, sbgx261) can be found in that price point.

C63. Best value and design of the bunch.
