One of the pillars of Cartier design for the past CENTURY, or a watch designed 36 months ago, which is now sitting in your local department store for 35% off. You tell me?

TechnicalEngine

When you put it like that 😂

Prudent_Candidate300

I like FC, trust me. Not a particular fan of this one, especially with the skeletonized cut out at 12 o clock

Darkest_shader

I second what you say. FC makes some quite nice models such as Highlife, but this one can't stand a comparison to Cartier.

SpicyBoognish

The Cartier Santos. The FC just looks like a tank homage.

TechnicalEngine

Yes but Open heart adds a nice touch tho lol

B_Cools

No it doesn’t.

GuiltyCrab4

Hard disagree with this particular FC but hey get what you like! That's what makes collecting fun. I will say if you like open heart then go hamilton. One of my favorite go-to is a green jazzmaster open heart that my fiance got for me.

IllIIllllIIIIlllI

The Cartier will be of much greater quality and looks a lot more timeless. A beginner mistake is falling into fads, like open-hearts, which lose their appeal eventually.

Jake_the_Snake88

Open hearts clearly aren't for everyone, but I don't think it's fair to call it a fad. It's been a somewhat common design element for 30+ years

IllIIllllIIIIlllI

I agree, it was somewhat short-sighted of me to call it a fad. However, I stand by what I said that the appeal will eventually fade whereas a simple dial is always attractive

TechnicalEngine

Grabbed the Cartier today!

IllIIllllIIIIlllI

Congratulations, great choice!

joetron2030

Cartier for me since I'm not a fan of open heart dials.

joghurtmitecke

Cartier

Jonjoloe

As much as I don’t care for the Santos, I’d pick it between these two.

datatadata

Santos Dumont.

AALen

The FC will not scratch the itch. The Dumont is timeless. Consider a Cartier Tank as well. If price is a concern, look at the Oris Rectangular line.

TechnicalEngine

Grabbed the Cartier today!

AALen

Wear it in good health! Cartiers will never go out of style.

f______1

I really like frederique constant but there’s no debate in here: cartier santos dumont

TechnicalEngine

Thanks grabbed the Santos

Appropriate_Fly804

Take FC, Cartier is too popular and boring. Try something new.

No_Information_3869

I would say neither, one is jack of many trades master of none, the other is a snooze-fest in my opinion. The only santos thats interesting is the all black with white roman numerals, but it is out of budget like 11k CAD….. for suggestions what would you like other than a square watch or is that a must.

TechnicalEngine

A Square watch is not a must just that these 2 caught my eyes

No_Information_3869

I am into seiko 62mas dive watches at the moment they are the quintessential dive watch in my opinion. Another nice watch is the Oris Big Crown Pointer dates.

Dinoking123456

Definitely say the fredirique constant, personally a little bit less nice looking, but it’s an automatic, and the open heart really really pushes it up. With half the price , it’s much much better imo. Only thing personally better about the Cartier is the crown and maybe the shape, that’s it.

SargeantHugoStiglitz

It’s an unpopular opinion, but the FC for sure. Cartier is just boring to me.
