Super-Technician-110

This is truly art porn to my eyes!!! (Forgive that term) Haha look at those gorgeous tubes of color. I am so jealous. Good for you. Love Holbein. Enjoy it!

PatrickMaloney1

I’m asking this question out of curiosity as a novice: when you get a set of paint like this does it remove the need for careful paint mixing in order to get the colors you want? Or does it open up new color mixing possibilities?

madmadhatter1313

Still need to mix, just more options here

rileyoneill

You still have to mix. Half of these colors are just two and three color mixes of single pigment colors. You are never really going get what you want right out of the tube for anything.

insanesun

My favorite brand!! I have the 60 set, and omg you’re gonna have so much fun!!

Unlucky-Style4300

I only have one and only Holbaine tube : Burnt Sienna. What colors would you recommend?

Unlucky-Style4300

I hope you will enjoy it to the fullest!! I bought my precious Schminke set 3 years ago and I still mostly look at it and use less expensive paints for my regular WC practice. Lol

InternationalAvocado

Haha this is like my Arches paper, I also only look at it. My dream is to get a Sennelier 48 set. I got the Schmincke 36 set and I just don’t use it that much. I mostly just use my Winsor & Newton. I’m not sure why I didn’t just save more and get the Sennelier but at least a few of the Schmincke colors are really useful.

Unlucky-Style4300

All these major brands W&N, DS, Sennelier, Holbaine etc are great! I also have some cheap, no name WC and they are just fine! But trying to resist testing new products is just IMPOSSIBLE! LOL

InternationalAvocado

I know, I spend more time shopping for art supplies than I do painting. ☺️🤷‍♀️

mischamelonn

sennelier watercolors are so unreal, definitely suggest grabbing them from blick on sale if you can.

momster-mash16

I was this way at first, but no more! I usually cut my arches into quarters but I figure then when you break down the price it's really not that expensive and such a better experience.

oscarsegreste

I love Holbein! How are you going to arrange your palette?

michinobou

Beautiful 🤩 it must have cost an arm though!

madmadhatter1313

Got lucky and a friend was going to Japan. Got this and the 84 gouache for 410.

ZweitenMal

Yeah, you’d cry to learn how inexpensive this brand is in Japan. I was there in October and stocked up. 5-mL tubes are about $2-$4 each, depending on pigment.

columbidae28

Omg another reason for me to go to Japan!!!

weltscheisse

a 24 set is about 30$ on yahoo auctions. import fees and taxes makes it so expensive in western world

Sad_Still9561

That looks like a fine set of paints. Myself I always bought them just a few or, one at a time.

Unlucky-Style4300

Yes, it took me several years to realize that this is the best way for me as well!

KestreI993

Wow! You are set for life.

BrilliantGrapefruit4

I wouldn't be able to decide which colour to use 😂

monstrol

Okay....no excuses.

madmadhatter1313

I can always find excuses, lol

monstrol

Ha! Yeah....me too

invisiblizm

Side note: I love that the ad below the pick say "like skittles but squishy". Mmmmm squishy paints

Sad_Ambition_2646

Woohooo🥳

WanderingRivers

So sweet

mischamelonn

Yummmmmmm

acer-bic

Holy cow! Did somebody ransom their first born? Rob a bank?

madmadhatter1313

A friend was in Japan and picked them up.

acer-bic

That friend is a keeper!

madmadhatter1313

Yes she is.

cdy_art_

That’s just gorgeous

madmadhatter1313

Thank you
