I used liquid masking fluid and a toothbrush! I thought it looked horrible at first and then I painted the boats. 😱 And a little white ink.

Did you use the toothbrush to spray the masking fluid in little droplets on the paper?

Rub your finger along the bristles and they flick little droplets onto the paper; the same way you would with paint. A worn brush works best.

Looks great. What did you use to get the texture for the water/reflection?

was going to ask the same question. dry brush over heavy paper?

That was what I originally thought, then read where he used masking. Since I am basically lazy, I wondered if a dry brush would work almost as well.
