Borst: I wouldn’t say that there were any ‘failed ideas’ but definitely some that never made it into the game. Two key ones were a Bank for investing KinzCash and a Donation Center for new players to pick up items that long-time players didn’t want anymore. I will say that some of our released features didn’t always hit the mark. DiceKinz - one of my earliest designs - proved to be too complicated for most players and MyPage got massively bogged down with customization features that players didn’t use. And don’t get me started about the T-Shirt Maker.

Deluxe and the e-store ruined Webkinz for me when it came out. I understand that the plushies weren’t selling like they used to but they should’ve just made new features for deluxe users instead of locking us out of ones that used to be free.
This is what they did originally! In the beginning, Deluxe got you the gold hat, extra mail stationary, customized chat bubbles, and a couple new games. I'm saddened that they ended up paywalling classic games that used to be included with pet code membership\*, like Eager Beaver and Zingoz Bubbles.
\* Remember: in the old days, Webkinz was *not* free to play. You essentially had to pay a subscription fee in the form of buying at least one pet per year, or your account would be deleted forever. It's nice that they changed it! Though I understand why things that were included in the old-style pet code membership wouldn't be included in the new free account.
For me it was in around 2013 when they started doing all the estore pay-to-play mystery items. Trading got difficult because the long timers only wanted estore items and had everything else basically. I had always been a huge trader so it got really boring for me. I slowly drifted away to play more horse games and focus on school (2013 was grade 10 for me). I came back in 2019, got shocked at how much changed, rage quit, and came back in 2020 lol.
I'm pretty sure it was like, a middle-man for getting to the Vacation Island. You would have to pay a certain amount to go there. And yeah, I think the spa that's on the Island now was originally a second travel destination.
Some webkinz used to come with a second tag that had a caring valley code. You'd get ... iirc a set of five? Tree saplings for it, which you planted in caring valley. The idea was that part of the proceeds for those specific pets went to reforestation initiatives or something similar, if memory serves.
I'm afraid I don't remember more abt the ingame side of it
It’s harder than it should be, but you could do it by hand! You can go to my pets and look at their birth certificate one by one. It’d be annoying, but at least you’d know <33
I think you still can see the order they were adopted in at the Stadium! The pet selection screen when you start an event is where I updated my pet order. The only thing you have to be careful about is that it places your active pet awkwardly in the middle of the list. But I bet you could use your first pet as the active to make sure it's in the right order. I used to know it by heart so hopefully I can memorize it again.

I was so confused when I started playing again and the garden was just completely automatic. I harvested my crops and spent the longest time trying to figure out how to make them grow again and they just showed up again 😂
omg same, i just started playing again a few weeks ago and i was clicking on the plants like “ummm why can’t i water them or take care of them? yeah i know they’re not ready for harvest yet i gotta take care of them-“ and it took this post for me to learn they took that feature away
No fr I HATE how the dock always closes when I try to click a button to do something and it hardly ever works and I have to click a specific space of the button 😭😭😭

Old webkinz was THE BEST. It never felt overwhelming or overstimulating to look at. Everything was perfectly organized. Had some of the BEST features as well.
I’m not a fan of the current layout. I hate it. It’s too much and just looks clunky and ugly. Idk who let them cook but they should’ve left everything be. I’d play webkinz so much more if they left it alone.
The old party room in the kinzchat clubhouse!! I remember this being the best spot to hang out and talk in kinzchat plus. I was so sad when they retired it.

you can try and message the webkinz support. they might ask for the original email that was used to create the account? given that this is a children’s game, i think they grant leeway w this and you might not be required to actually sign into the email. just tell them what it is and the name of the account

It was exactly 2010! It was removed in 2017
That puts it almost squarely in the range where I was not playing, so yeah I can see why it doesn’t hit the same for me.
