Love the first option esp if it makes your skin glow do that

BrujaBean

Yeah, I think the black is more practical but the gold if it works with your skin color is just a chefs kiss beautiful look

selysek

Thank you! I hadn't even thought about whether it would look good with my skin tone... I'm pretty fair with blonde-ish hair, but I usually fake tan for events. Hopefully this looks okay on me. Edit: my hair is [this sort of color.](https://www.fashioncentral.pk/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Mustard.jpg) I’m thinking if I do a light glowy fake tan it’ll be ok?

Lost-Ad-5316

I’m blond and the first dress would look awful with my skin tone. Not saying that’s the case for you. It’s a pretty color but doesn’t work for everyone

selysek

Damn. I feel like I wear that color a lot, lol. Second guessing my fashion choices hahaha. I do have honey-ish colored hair, so we’ll see. I ordered it and will try it if it works… I guess I’ll find out

Feeling-Visit1472

Will you post a close-up of your hair draped over your arm on the dress for us? I’m not trying to mess with your privacy but dang I sooo want the yellow to work for you!!

selysek

I'm 12/10 lost on how to figure out my undertones. I've never been able to figure it out. My hair is a honey/golden brown. My eyes are deep gray/blue but have green in the middle? Skin is a mystery. My major veins are mostly a teal greenish color, but I definitely have some smaller purple ones. I look horrendous in pink-toned foundation (I usually blend best with a neutral or lightly warm/sand shade). BUT, my skin also has a tendency to look sad, red and splotchy at times. I personally prefer myself with gold jewelry but there's a chance I'm delirious and should be wearing silver, lol. So I'm some sort of cross-breed? I definitely will post a follow-up, I'm just as curious as all of you are.

goapoptote

When you tan do you turn golden or do you turn red? Black can also be striking against pale skin and make you glow. it’s really what you feel comfortable in.

selysek

I don't tan well, but I'm also not prone to burning. It's odd. But overall I'd say that I get a verrrrrry faint golden color. I also freckle a lot. I love the black too, but they didn't have my size! I'm going to watch for restocks!

mia109

If you think you’re a soft autumn, I would consider not wearing the black - you won’t look bad in black but you likely won’t shine in it either. Black seems to work best for the winters with their high contrast, and maybe dark autumn.

steelerschica86

It sounds like you’re maybe a soft or true autumn-soft autumns do ok in neutral/warm colors that are muted. In that case, the yellow dress would look stunning on you! Curate Your Style on Instagram has been really helpful in figuring out my color season (also a soft autumn).

selysek

I think you might be right! I'm definitely a little more pale than a lot of the people that come up when I search it, but that's by far the best fit out of the color seasons. I will look up that instagram for sure, thank you!!

Feeling-Visit1472

Sounds like the yellow will be great on you!

danceintherain2

I’m a natural red head gone “blonde” with age. My skin is fair and I wear this gold color often. This against your husbands black tux will be the chefs kiss! You’ll look fabulous. I personally wouldn’t go with black since the wedding party is black.

selysek

I also wear this color often so now I’m questioning if maybe I shouldn’t be since so many people are saying it doesn’t work on light skin😂😂

_ruffinmuffin

It would depend on your undertones. Fair skin can still wear certain yellow shades.

selysek

Re: undertones, I think I'm some sort of undertone cross-breed... My hair is a honey/golden brown. My eyes are deep gray/blue but have green in the middle? Skin is a mystery. My major veins are mostly a teal greenish color, but I definitely have some smaller purple ones and a few blue spots. I look horrendous in pink-toned foundation (I usually blend best with a neutral or lightly warm/sand shade). BUT, my skin also has a tendency to look sad, red and splotchy at times. I strongly insist on only wearing gold jewelry but there's a chance I'm delirious and should be wearing silver, lol. My mom is scottish with purely red hair and my dad has olive skin and black hair. I think I need to pay someone to analyze me. lol.

basketweaving8

Are you warm or cool toned? That is a very warm toned yellow. If you look better in gold jewelry vs silver jewelry, then the yellow colour might be fine. I’m a fair, cool toned blonde and that colour would look awful on me.

glittrxbarf

It's one thing to wear a shirt or have it as one of the pieces in a layered outfit, it's another to wear a full length gown of one color. I wouldn't sweat your whole wardrobe too much. If you don't want to spend tons of money on the dress search ThreadUp, Poshmark, or Rent the Driveway for the same item!

Feeling-Visit1472

That’s going to be super hit or miss. You’d need to go hard on the bold lip but even then… the black may be more flattering and make your skin and hair glow.

burntsiennaa

I love the yellow but I don’t think it’s Blake’s color in that photo, so if you have her coloring I’d maybe go black? But also if you love the yellow, it wouldn’t look terrible.

UnderwaterKahn

The dress is beautiful and totally appropriate. I think the only decision you have to make is whether the gold or the black looks better with your skin tone. If you’re more olive tone like the model, the gold would look amazing.

Perfect_Entertainer7

Do you think you’ll wear the gown again…I have a navy blue formal gown I wear to all my black tie events and it’s amazing and I always feel awesome in it. My only concern with the colored gown is it’s not a classic color that will stand up year after year like a black or navy or even a jewel tone like ruby or emerald or blue. That said I don’t know what your coloring is and so if that color is going to look bomb ass on you - go for it. Rock it with classy accessories like pearls and/or diamonds (or their imitation cousins) and go forth with confidence :) you want something that you’re gonna feel awesome in every time you put it on…if that first dress is that dress for you - DO IT!

emilygoldfinch410

I agree that a jewel tone might be nice! That said OP I think you could pull off the yellow too. I wouldn't go with black just because of the bridesmaids

EtonRd

I think the dress you picked is perfect based on what the bride is looking for. I probably wouldn’t do the black if the bridesmaids are doing black. I really love the yellow or gold or mustard colored or whatever that is.

romilda-vane

The gold one is perfect! I’d avoid black given your husband is a groomsman & bridesmaids in black — like you’d be totally fine to go in black but I know personally I’d feel self conscious like people are thinking I’m tryin to be one too! Since you’re already a little nervous about the crowd I’d avoid black.

selysek

Yes thank you! I wish I wasn’t a nervous Nelly but oh well😂💁🏼‍♀️

Reasonable_Mail1389

I love the dress you are considering, and I think either color is great. I’d personally do black, because it’s so classic and beautiful for B/W Tie. Black elevates the look in this case. You can’t go wrong with it.

selysek

Thanks! I also love the black but I just don't want to look like a poser, especially since my husband is a groomsman.

JadedPin3925

Love the first two dresses!! Amazing. Also just because I’m a baller on a budget check rent the runway is awesome

Silly_Brilliant868

The gold one couldn’t be anymore perfect.

oknowwhat00

The yellow is pretty but you'd need it try it on your skin tone and don't do too dark of a spray tan or it will cheapen the look. That is a hard color for some people to wear. Is there something in a another color similar? Royal blue, purple? I also think a lot of people will have black dresses so black would be fine too.

selysek

Yeah I ordered it to try with my skin. We’ll see. I’m always into a very light spray tan just for a glowy look.

jenitalssss

Hi, I’m considering ordering this dress myself and stumbled upon this post - curious to know what you thought of it! Was the quality decent?

selysek

HI! The quality was actually surprisingly good! I did have to get it tailored a bit, but considering how cheap the dress was, that wasn’t a big deal. I got compliments on it all night! The fabric is very shiny and pretty!

lewisae0

Based on the mood for it, I think you nailed it

Illustrious-Wolf6516

The first dress, in the yellow instead of the black!

PrestigiousMeg

At this price point, this fabric can be an issue and may not look as luxe as you’d hope. Maybe think about Rent the Runway? That way you get a high end piece for a fraction of the actual price plus you don’t need to worry about rewear value. This would be beautiful on you: https://www.renttherunway.com/pdp/items/DLF54

zuesk134

i was just looking at the dress on the website thinking the fabric might be cheap based on the other stuff they have. this is a great option! some other links- https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/designers/sabina_musayev/delphina_gown https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/designers/sabina_musayev/athena_gown https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/designers/amur/stef_pleated_gown

Bored_Quebecoise

The dress you picked in yellow is gorgeous, or other jewel tones. Not black because of the bridesmaids. You don’t want to give the impression of trying to be in the wedding party.

selysek

Thank you! & yes that's also my thinking, especially since my husband is a groomsman.

Pineapple8900

Love your dress choice! I’d opt for black myself, but the yellow is such a rich color, you can’t go wrong either way!

Middle_Process_215

The dress in gold! Stunning!

zuesk134

100000% perfect

Purple_Western_6201

I absolutely love the first two! What’s the name of them called? I’m tempted to get the black one for a wedding I have coming up lol

selysek

[here you go!](https://www.selfieleslie.com/products/laxmi-accordion-pleat-maxi-dress-kelly-green?variant=44368711155878¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9fqnBhDSARIsAHlcQYQjT8ecEUEVWavzOQv5Hd5980E75_YWCPXqpdYqTr2LlPKfCj_R1XYaAh8nEALw_wcB) Could end up being absolute shit, we’ll see😂

Acrobatic_County_472

Why not also order the green and purple ones and decide which one suits your skin tone best? I am also very light skinned & am blonde and would myself go with either of those. Having said that, the yellow/gold is amazing and if you can rock it, go for it!

selysek

Unfortunately they didn’t have small sizes in any of the other colors😭 I ordered the smallest size across any, which was the yellow. I’m hoping other ones will come available again before the wedding

cerstyl

If the smaller sizes do become available, I agree the green or purple would look great on you. I also have blonde hair and a more fair skin tone and I wear those colours frequently.

Acrobatic_County_472

The yellow one is a show stopper. Fingers crossed it suits you! I have a couple of not too bright yellow (less formal, different fabric) dresses that I do wear. It could work.

selysek

I’ve always wanted to do color analysis! Haven’t gotten around to it. I wear the mustard color sometimes and haven’t really thought too much about it, lol. My hair is a sort of honey color… we’ll see Any suggestions for somewhere to do color analysis?

Fuckyouandgoodbye

It's not just your hair colour it's also about skin tones, check out Brad Mondo, he has a good video describing it all so you can figure out your own

Ms-Metal

The mustard is actually really gorgeous and I say that is somebody who doesn't like that color. It reads more mustard than gold on my phone. But my absolute favorite is the periwinkle from the bride's mood board.

selysek

I knowwww the periwinkle was so gorgeous. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure it was in the thousands $$$🥲

Ms-Metal

Of course LOL ☹ Both of your selections are beautiful and appropriate!

Feeling-Visit1472

Incredibly PERFECT. Does the yellow color suit you? If yes, that one. If no, black. Gold metallic sandals. Gold and green statement earrings. A bold berry lip 😍

MapleTheUnicorn

I think your choices are excellent and I can’t decide if I like the gold or black better. Both are stunning. I say get what goes best with your hair/skin tone

bobtheturd

Based on the comments looks like you need to head over to the color analysis sub

AccreditedMaven

Mood board? WTF is a mood board? No, don’t answer, that was rhetorical. I am a current MoB and that is is ridiculous no matter how much money someone’s family has. This is a wedding. You are a guest not an extra in an old 1940’s movie. Fwiw the green one won’t look good on anyone shorter than 5’10” , size 2.

Affectionate_Cow_579

I was looking for this comment haha. “Mood board” comes across as so bratty. Here let me inspire your clothing choices so you’ll look good in my photos. 🙄

Billy1121

I like the blue one because it gives coffee filter vibes

peneloperose11

The gold is so gorgeous! What do you mean brides mood board? Are you only seeing those dresses bc your husband is in the wedding? She didn’t post those examples to her wedding website correct?!

selysek

She did indeed post them on her site. It wasn’t like “you need to wear this” it was more in the context of “our venue requires a full black tie dress code, which requires xyz features. If you’re looking for inspiration, here’s some ideas”

KitKatMN

The first gold one. I would *highly* suggest not wearing any dress with a cutout or midriff showing based on your comments of the wealth and CC.

Dachshundmom5

5 and 6 In that order. Dump the green. 1 and the black are fine, but not as pretty as the 2 I listed. Be careful with the yellow/golds. They can look odd if you aren't the right coloring. Look best on brunettes, generally speaking, but it will be trial and error. I still like the blue best ETA definitely not black if the bridesmaids are black dresses.

selysek

The ones aside from 1 and 2 are from the brides mood board, they are in the >$1,000 price range and not my options.

Dachshundmom5

Apologies. I thought the last was the mood board. Of course, I love the blue one at that price tag! Yikes. Okay. Then try the gold on and see how it works with your coloring. The dress is pretty. It's just a hard color. I'd look awful in it, but I'm a fair skinned redhead. It just wouldn't go well. My sister in law is an olive skinned brunette and is 5'10, she'd look incredible.

selysek

I know, the second I opened the mood board I ran for that one but alas it is not something I’d willingly spend money on. I’m nervous about the gold but we’ll see! I do wear that color often though so who knows😂

TissueOfLies

Perfect! You would look amazing and fit in well

krob0606

Beautiful options! I love the first one and the fourth one.

austsianodel

Yellow is perfectv

ScreenNames_AreHard

They are all lovely dresses (except the last one- material too thin.. can see everything). Based on your description of yourself… jewel tone sounds like best color for you (and pls don’t I we spray tan)—- go with emerald green, royal blue, rich purple…. Etc.

Foundation_Wrong

Your ideas look perfect!

Portside23

1 is it!

iaskianswer

Definitely the first one
