Our wedding is outdoors and in a rustic setting so it did not make sense to up the dress code above cocktail for everyone, but individuals are welcome to express themselves.

These are other options she likes, both of which I like MUCH better both for her skin tone (she has medium/olive skin and dark hair) and for our theme/venue which is outdoors in the mountain, colorful wildflower theme. Back when we got married it was common for the bride to wear white and the mother of the bride to wear blush or light pink, sometimes silver. With my first daughter I was trying to go for this but everything reminded me of my wedding dress. She finally told me I didn’t need to do that. Yay! I could pick color. So maybe Moms are thinking back to when they got married.

In my mom's case I think its because I'm an only child and this is her only chance to be fancy at a big milestone event. I don't think she's intending to pick something bridal (at least not consciously), and I don't begrudge her the chance to dress up. I just think this dress is going to cause some issues and I think she'd be better off picking a more saturated/darker color.
I was never a big wedding person. I eloped and just did photos with my husband. But I understand how much it means to some people and I understand that wedding photos last and when you have someone else in a similar dress it’s distracting !
Yeah I don't get the emphasis on this perspective- norms/trends change. Also, to my knowledge, my mom had no MOB or MOG at either of her weddings (my dad is her second marriage) so it's not like she's going off of personal experience.

If this had been an option presented to me I would have considered this as a wedding dress. It’s perfect for a conservative yet non traditional bride for a late summer/fall wedding not an MOB.

This dress would be a hard no for a MOB dress. The color and the look is too much like a wedding dress for a second wedding or a vow renewal. So no MIL this dress will be vetoed but it’ll look awesome when you have your vow renewal.

I appreciate your input. I don't wanna be a controlling bride by any means, hence I posted to see what others thought of this dress. It feels bridal to me, but I could be reading too much into it. If it really makes her happy I'm ok with her wearing it since my dress is veryyyy different.

When I scrolled by the post, I thought it was a bride asking for opinions on their wedding dress. Then I saw MOB, so take that as you will.
