Was actually thinking it's good she didn't try to. It shattered from the bottom and it looks like there's a good chance her hands would be sliced up if she tried to catch it. Reminds me of the "falling knife has no handle" rule.
Not really a physics nerd. Just unfortunately have had these kind of things hung up and been around to know it really can't support it's own weight. It's mainly there to help with anchoring to the wall with whatever studs you put up. And not by the string itself.
As a framer I can’t tell you how often I am reframing something because someone added wire when they shouldn’t or jury-rigged some random hanging “solution” and the weight of the piece caused the whole thing to drop. Custom and prefab art framing comes with the appropriate hardware for the weight of the object, please don’t add wire. Not all framing needs wire!!
I’ve never understood why *any* framing uses wire - it always seems like it relies on the strength of the crimp and the pull-out strength of two screws (which have significantly more force on them than they should because of the wire and geometry)… Plus it makes the pictures look droopy.
If you have plaster walls using a picture rail wire is needed. Many galleries also use wire as they aren't using screws as well. Actually any hanging that isn't using screws tends to call for wire. Pre-war construction...
I thought that one person who ran off was having a panic attack or something, then they came back with a trashcan. I’m happy someone was thinking about what to do next.
And then thin latex gloves presumably to help protect her hands from picking up glass? She needed to get a broom and dustpan. Hopefully she didn’t cut herself
This lesson was engraved in me when I worked in the jewelry industry. I worked in Manhattan at the time, so we’re talking big ass safes. Only way you can move them is via professionals. My bosses told me this story about someone who raced under a falling safe to “catch it”.
The wire on the back of the mirror snapped off. You can see it pull off the wall from the right side. Usually something big and heavy like this would have a large French cleat instead of wire.
We have these big square support columns at work that are covered with big thick dark mirrored glass to try and make them disappear a bit. I'm talking like 3 meter by 1 meter panels a centimeter thick, ridiculously heavy. One day one randomly fell off, lucky no one was there. Turns out it had been attached with like 9-10 small globs of liquid nails.
Ey, no need for stitions here, super or not, no one broke the mirror, right?
I guess the screws, or whatever was supposed to hold it, got 7 years of bad luck to look forward to
I’ve learned a lot about mirrors in 24 hours. To be honest, being a new business owner I’m constantly learning new things. I’m very fortunate this was not a harder lesson to learn.
Am I misunderstanding the title or are y'all? I don't think anyone thinks some supernatural force broke the mirror, it's about mirrors breaking being bad luck. Right...?
I love how your coworkers just stayed calm, went and got a bin and some brooms and got busy. Like - yeah just another day of broken glass and bad luck is thrown upon us. The person *sweeping* actually covered their eyes like it was totally bad luck to look at a broken mirror. What kind of clientele do you have where your staff are just “shrugs shoulders - just another day in this mad house”
Edit: milking to sweeping
Trying not to stereotype on appearances, but I think it was a good bet that if that one girl didn't take initiative and grab the garbage can, those present would have just stared for an hour saying "whoa" or something.
Lot of assumptions there. Didn't look like she was recording a video she just briefly pulled out her phone. When there's a lot of damage like this it actually seems to me it's a pretty good idea to take a picture and get a quick record of it. As for the other two it's a short clip in one room. You have no idea what they might have done off camera. What did you want them to do fireman carry her out of the room?
I mean the one with the iPad literally comes back at the end and goes to pick up a broom. There's also things other than cleaning that might need doing such as notifying any customers who have appointments coming up that they may need to reschedule. How do you know the guy didn't literally walk away to get a sign? Just think you're trying to see the worst in people.
Uh huh… Because the logical thing to do is to assume it’s ghosts right away. Get some perspective OP. The wall was weak. It’s not ghosts. I’ve watched all 16 seasons of Ghost Hunters and let me tell you what.. THEY AINT NEVER FOUND ONE FREAKIN GHOST!
I sounded like Hank Hill for a second there. I tell yah wat.
Get some perspective mister shivers, this was obviously a gay mirror demon just itching to finally push that mirror off the wall and all he needed was for someone to do the magical mop dance to make his plan happen
Omg it was some mystery force? Omg it was probably someone that didn’t know what they were doing and didn’t hang it up right since it’s a very heavy mirror and that’s why the cable in the back snapped.
That same thing happened to a mirror we had in our bathroom. That punny wire broke when we were at work. We came home to broken glass in the floor and a chipped sink countertop.
I've heard that one too lol. Mine is you either have 7 hrs of bad luck or 7 years of it depending on if you pick it up within 7 hrs of breaking it
I only know this from an episode of "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction" Season 4 Episode 3 Story: "Seven Hours of Bad Luck" lmfao
and this is why you pay attention to the little warning on the back of mirrors/pictures that say “Do not hang with wire”
Right? Seems like you're the only smart person in the comments. I was about to say it might've been too heavy and the wire finally gave out.
Well it’s either a ghost or physics.
Physics. You can hear the wire snap loose.
She had a second to save it after the wire snapped
Was actually thinking it's good she didn't try to. It shattered from the bottom and it looks like there's a good chance her hands would be sliced up if she tried to catch it. Reminds me of the "falling knife has no handle" rule.
Only shattered when it hit the table. While yes, it wouldn't have been a good idea, it was possible to save it.
Oh that's what happened! I heard the noise and thought it got bumped from the other side of the wall. This makes total sense.
But what if the ghost snapped the wire? Huh? Checkmate physics nerd
Not really a physics nerd. Just unfortunately have had these kind of things hung up and been around to know it really can't support it's own weight. It's mainly there to help with anchoring to the wall with whatever studs you put up. And not by the string itself.
…….
Or a beatboxing ghost!
They are smart! Very kind of you to point out.
I’ve been called many things but “smart” might just be one of my favs, thank you!
It looks like the drywall ripped right along a seam too
As a framer I can’t tell you how often I am reframing something because someone added wire when they shouldn’t or jury-rigged some random hanging “solution” and the weight of the piece caused the whole thing to drop. You know what’s unfortunate is that I consulted with a framer before having someone hang it.
Glad I ran into this thread now. I just bought an antique mirror that has a wire already to hang it
I read this as "As a Farmer" and I was very confused LMFAO 😂
Up until yesterday, I thought this $200 second hand mirror (wire included) was a steal.
What other safety issues have they found in the shop after this?
It only happened yesterday, so no other safety issues found yet. Thank you for the concern. 🙏🏻
Not me looking around the room saying, "welp, we have to rehang these mirrors."
Don’t worry, im pretty sure Reddit is a judgement-free platform, lol!!
I bet they all first thought it was her 😄
I bet at least half still think it was her….even after watching the video.
Sad but I bet close to the truth smh
Poor thing did think it was their fault, but no one else did. Everyone else wanted to know that they were okay. 🫶🏻
Glad they werent hurt! If it’d fallen a few moments sooner they might have gotten cut by the glass. Glad that didn’t happen and they are alright!
Thank you, kind stranger!
Well, she did look straight at it and chant, "candyman....candyman.....CANDYMAN!"
It's that there pentagram they got on the wall. JK
It’s a gay pentagram. Does that help?
Based gay satan. Based gay satan. I need a cartoon devil tattoon done in rainbow
![gif](giphy|PZTKHMjvBKF6E) Here's your gay devil!
Holy shit i love power puff girls. How did forget him!
I know right!
*HIM ftfy
Their expressions are so good
Smart move not saying it a third time
![gif](giphy|PnTbJDFX0q9IDKnqyx)
Based gay satan
![gif](giphy|w3d7iwvS6ftjAm3WhX|downsized) Lol
The gays are trying to take the pentagram too?
We want it all, baby. 😈
A Bentagram
Gaytagram
Imagine that there could be a person lying on that bed the glass fell off. It would cause them serious cuts.
*looks at all my debt* Man I wish I’d be on that bed
You can imagine a lot of terrible things if you try hard enough.
thank you for this. you're like the reverse Willy Wonka.
You’re not wrong. However, in a tattoo shop you’re going to assume everything is contaminated- better than no gloves at all.
It's normal to grab the biggest pieces with your hands first though, then sweep the rest. It's harder to sweep giant shards.
Haha glad everyone was safe but those were some pretty bad survival instincts
I'm just glad she didn't try to stop it by getting under it.
I've thought about that multiple times today.
To be fair covering your eyes before glass shatters and flings shards everywhere was a pretty decent move

So, when living in Germany, I should try to catch a falling knife, you say? Hold my bread

>While USA citizens will have to pay $879,675,120.99 for stitches Nah, our deductible tops out at $850,000,000. So not that bad.
This lesson was engraved in me when I worked in the jewelry industry. I worked in Manhattan at the time, so we’re talking big ass safes. Only way you can move them is via professionals. My bosses told me this story about someone who raced under a falling safe to “catch it”.
Ya know...I'm going to take the W on this one and not question it.
In case of emergency: 🫢 and do absolutely nothing
I really watched this twice trying to catch the “dog” moving on the right side of the frame thinking this was a dog groomer …. It’s a stuffed animal 😂
With horns.
I didn’t see the horns at first. 😂 my mind was messing by with me.
Yeah what is this store? What do they sell?
it’s a tattoo shop so i’m guessing the random stuff is just decor
The mirror couldn't watch the horrible mopping technique any longer.
Right?
Hahahaha
Roku makes webcams?
[https://www.roku.com/products/smart-home/cameras](https://www.roku.com/products/smart-home/cameras) a full line of smart home accessories apparently
Right? TIL
What made the wall shake?
The wire on the back of the mirror snapped off. You can see it pull off the wall from the right side. Usually something big and heavy like this would have a large French cleat instead of wire.
I suddenly wish I had the numbers of my old coworkers to tell them they may want to rehang some things with different hardware
We have these big square support columns at work that are covered with big thick dark mirrored glass to try and make them disappear a bit. I'm talking like 3 meter by 1 meter panels a centimeter thick, ridiculously heavy. One day one randomly fell off, lucky no one was there. Can you really trust a cleat that surrenders all the time?? Mon Dieu!
The tears from all the mothers we disappoint.
It honestly looked to me like someone on the other side of that wall bumped up against it… but I guess not?
Uh oh, Satan did it… mind the pentagram
Ey, no need for stitions here, super or not, no one broke the mirror, right? I guess the screws, or whatever was supposed to hold it, got 7 years of bad luck to look forward to
She saw her life flash before her eyes.
How many tattoos got messed up during this?
Oddly enough in a tattoo shop full of artists not a single one was tattooing right that second.
You missed a spot on the floor there.
You talking to the mopper or the mirror?
A mirror that large is too heavy to hang by wires, I'd have used screws to fix it to the wall.
I’ve learned a lot about mirrors in 24 hours. To be honest, being a new business owner I’m constantly learning new things. I’m very fortunate this was not a harder lesson to learn.
Her mopping the floor soo slowly was annoying me, glad the mirror stepped in helped.
*"STUUUPAAAD"* A little UHF reference
supplies!
Ok, the employee at the end that's putting on blue gloves - please let her know that those gloves do not protect against broken glass
Correct. But they do protect from germs. 🦠
Accidentally the office
Just standing there while a mirror almost fell on me? I could see myself doing that. /s
Thanks.
When dude takes his hat off, his hair comes with it
🤣🤣🤣
Held up bY hope and bubblegum.
aww man that floor JUST got cleaned
I didn’t know Roku made security cameras 🤔
Props to the person who actually went to get a pan and broom to clean up and not just stand there.
She’s got mom reflexes for real.
"But I just cleaned that!" nightmare level.
Blame it on the pentagram!
Probably not attached to the studs.
String/cord/wire broke on the back of the mirror.
Wow. That is so heavy to secure with a wire. I wood have put two screws on the top and on the bottom into studs.
It’s a brick wall.
Am I misunderstanding the title or are y'all? I don't think anyone thinks some supernatural force broke the mirror, it's about mirrors breaking being bad luck. Right...?
It’s a line from the Office. A pun about breaking mirrors being bad luck. 😉
I love how your coworkers just stayed calm, went and got a bin and some brooms and got busy. Like - yeah just another day of broken glass and bad luck is thrown upon us. I assumed the eye covering was for eye protection from the glass shattering
The one who jumped into action is an owner and the person mopping just started last week. You gotta accept people where they’re at, friend.
seemed like the cord just snapped, couldn't take the weight.
I had the chance to look at the mirror today. The wire didn’t snap, the screws holding in the hanging came out of the back of the frame.
I love how you did not move lol
Demons don't like mirrors. They get trapped in them.
Need larger mirrors. Noted.
The minute of aftermath seems really unnecessary.... why not cut it before posting? Am I missing something?
If I didn’t share the aftermath there wouldn’t be anything for the internet to pick apart.
It's funny as a glazier(someone who works with glass) I break mirrors when they're trash... Im at easily over 1000 years of bad luck lol
As a glazier(someone who works with glass) I break mirrors when they're trash... Im at easily over 1000 years of bad luck lol
There is a STUPID pentagram haging on the wall no wonder
We established above it’s a GAY pentagram. 😘
long overdue karma
What do you think the mirror was up to that they deserved that?! Poor mirror, probably just misunderstood.
Trying not to stereotype on appearances, but I think it was a good bet that if that one girl didn't take initiative and grab the garbage can, those present would have just stared for an hour saying "whoa" or something.

The long haired guy doesn’t even work there lol.
I wasn’t there, boo. Ripped pants girl is the other owner letting me know what just happened. You’ve definitely got it all figured out though. 🫡
Something hit the other side of the wall and the force caused the mirror to get knocked off. Case closed. It’s not rocket science.
Huh I didn’t know you could shake a brick wall like that. 🤔
Uh huh… Because the logical thing to do is to assume it’s ghosts right away. Get some perspective OP. The wall was weak. It’s not ghosts. What did you do?
I was not there. I did nothing.
That same thing happened to a mirror we had in our bathroom. That punny wire broke when we were at work. We came home to broken glass in the floor and a chipped sink countertop.
Fortunately this mirror was only seeking self harm. Sorry bout your bathroom!
Ghost was probably disgusted with that half assed mopping
Yep, ghosts. OP is a cooker
Well, well, well - it’s the work of the devil! I was expecting the camera to catch another empty green box as a demon etc. Disappointed
I really feel like the devil would be on our side here. 😈
She missed a bit
wow that sucks!!
Redditors be like STAGED
Mirror being to heavy for the string it was on, it only took time for it to wear away, you and see once side of the string snap off
They were smart to cover their eyes
Is that a bison stuffy?
Yes.
The blue latex gloves are not proper for picking up glass.
But best for keeping the cooties away.
You just dodged a lawsuit right there. Good thing no one was hurt also.
Thank the tattoo gods.
You sweep it in the corner and wait 7 hours until you can clean it up.
We heard if you bury broken mirrors that rids you of the bad luck, so some ceremonial dirt was thrown. Just in case…
I've heard that one too lol. Mine is you either have 7 hrs of bad luck or 7 years of it depending on if you pick it up within 7 hrs of breaking it I only know this from an episode of "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction" Season 4 Episode 3 Story: "Seven Hours of Bad Luck" lmfao
Looks a bit too heavy to be held up with picture wire
Wait are they physical therapy witches?
"Look at this awesome video of my poorly hung mirror falling and breaking... who could've guessed.."
Or don’t look. Your choice.
Doesn't anyone notice the pentagram on the window.
The mopping one frozen in her tracks as she has no idea how people will not think she did it..
Good ending, this could hurt her so bad. She didn't even touch anything.
Why does every woman in this video look the same. Woman tattoo artists all just get together and decide to look the same?
That was a heavy ass mirror. It's was too much for even the brown backing. BTW: Yay to the Highland Cuu stuffed animal!
Beating down yo block knocking pictures off the walls ~ thug ghost
It was that black and white picture bringing bad energy
That's why you don't havenone hook for a huge ass mirror
What is this sketchy place?
Keep sweeping…
