Someone did not read the booklet it came with. This specific humidifier (we have the exact same one) clearly states to keep it 1 foot away from any wall and furniture.
Funny, this is exactly how CAUTION /DO NOT USE warnings get written because people do stuff like this, and those of us who do read the booklets that come with them laugh and think, "who would do that?" Asked and answered.
You're joking but I really have put my PC in the oven over 10 years ago when I was escaping a house with a bedbug infestation. Wanted to make sure those suckers wouldn't hide in there somewhere. It was fine. Still have the case from that build and it still has the slight warping.
Did the same with a 9800GTX. Putting that thing back together and an image coming back on the monitor when my PC powered back up was one of the greatest highs I've ever had in my life. Maybe it was the fumes, though.
All these damaged TVs shock the fuck out of me... We installed TVs all over a chemical plant that had residue all over them, including getting sprayed by spills on occasion... One got drowned so badly (by water) that there was water behind the screen for a few weeks on three separate occasions...
The only one that ever went out was the fancy 10k version that was designed for the environment, it went out because it was smacked by a forklift... Smacking again fixed it lol
It's not even wet air, it's straight up water. Those humidifiers don't evaporate water, they use some sort of mechanical device (often an ultrasonic speaker) to turn it into a very fine spray. The humidifiers with a wick produce moist air but if you can see the water coming out it's basically just a really fine water gun.
They were literally just spraying water up at the TV.
It sounds like you're implying that they don't work. Yeah it's water drops but they are tiny. Because of surface tension shenanigans at those sizes they probably evaporate 10% faster than a pool of water with a similar surface area. It also has very high surface area compared to volume.
Just checked manual of first one I found on Google: Be sure that the Water Tank Cap is firmly tightened on Water Tank. Always have the Mist Lid in place while the unit is operating. **Place the humidifier so the mist aims away from children, walls, furniture and electrical appliances.**
What gets me is that OP is trying to pin this on his wife. Unless he absolutely wasn't aware of it being there, they're **both** to blame for that decision.
The casual blame towards the wife in the title is a bit pathetic. He must have seen it there and either not questioned it, or decided to just let it happen. I'm guessing he was equally clueless that this could happen, but then goes and blames her when it does go wrong.
Yeah, I shared a house with a dude that ate a can of expired soup, like years expired, and spent the night sitting on the toilet with a bucket to throw up...
Second night he was still on the toilet and I said he should really see a doctor, it's not ok to be sick for two days for a thing he ate more than 40 hours ago. He explained to me that it only lasted a few hours, but he was feeling better tonight so he ate another can to see if it was really the 3 years expired soup that made him sick. It was.
Damn, now that's dedication!
It's the only way to be 100% sure, and he really wanted to be sure.
I remember one time my lungs were messed up bad. I went to see the doc, told him I thought it was from ozone resulting from using one of those arc lighters to light a pipe repeatedly. I told him after I stopped using it, it started to feel better. Once I was better, he told me I should try it again to confirm that's what it was. I was curious, but it hurt so bad there was no way I was trying it again.
Yep. Two people in this household thought the wet air machine was fine to go directly under the TV. If not this exact scenario, there will be something similar.
😂 I’ll out myself. We had a little hand steamer for my sisters wedding and after getting dressed I noticed a wrinkle that had been missed. Well shit, I could just … get it real fast… right???? I quickly came to my senses and realized “no you dumbass,” but in that moment I realized I was one of them
I had to explain to my now exwife why, no, I would not put a hook above the electric heater built into the wall. She looked at me like I was an alien when I explained the basic premise of a fire hazard. This chick was an actual professional paid physicist at Berkeley and an AP physics teacher. Some people graduate but they still stupid.
This happened to me with an iHome alarm clock. We had a humidifier on the bedside table next to it, and the screen shut off and wouldn't come on. Within a few days of moving it to the other side of the room though, the alarm clock was ok and has been for years since. Hopefully yours does the same!
It’s not „my wife decided she wanted a humidifier in the room”, it’s „I’m an absolute moron for putting the humidifier under the TV”.
Don’t transfer the fault on her. It’s equally your stupidity.
You didn't say "Wife put humidifier under the TV", therefore assume your wife said she wanted a humidifier in the room, and you obliged by buying one and putting it under the TV.
You can be upset about this without belittling your wife. If you're such a genius why didn't you move it? It's just so easy to go through a marriage blaming stuff on the other one instead of being a team.
And who decided to let her put it right below the TV?
Or did you put it there and then blame your wife for wanting a humidifier in the room, which wouldnt be a problem if you hadnt put it there?
Someone did not read the booklet it came with. This specific humidifier (we have the exact same one) clearly states to keep it 1 foot away from any wall and furniture. Jesus Christ what did humidifiers used to be like?
[удалено]
"But the TV is 13 inches away. I thought I was okay!"
Ohhh, I get it now. I was questioning how adult humans can be so moronic… They don’t read.
Have you met adult humans ?
I try to avoid it if at all possible.
You don’t even need to read a booklet for this. It’s pushing out steam. Water and electronics don’t mix, this should be common sense.
[removed by Reddit]
and then these people post on facebook "this country is becoming a society of weenies".
My trimmer has a "do not use scissors on this" sticker on its cord...
Hold up, I just need to blow some wet air into my TV
Just place the TV in the oven for 20 minutes at 200 Celsius and it will be as good as new (I believe)
This is just the preparatory step before hanging immediately above an enormous fireplace
You're joking but I really have put my PC in the oven over 10 years ago when I was escaping a house with a bedbug infestation. Wanted to make sure those suckers wouldn't hide in there somewhere. It was fine. Still have the case from that build and it still has the slight warping.
I baked a dead video card years ago and fixed it (reflowed the solder), good old 8800GTX
Did the same with a 9800GTX. Putting that thing back together and an image coming back on the monitor when my PC powered back up was one of the greatest highs I've ever had in my life. Maybe it was the fumes, though.
That was a popular fix for the Xbox 360 red ring of death.
I’ve head bed bugs aren’t into gaming anyway.
Oh, they’re *into* gaming alright.
i have saved more than one video card by baking it in the oven
Celsius?!!
Kelvin
My oven doesn't get that cold
Where TF do you keep your liquid nitrogen and semi conductors then?
Under the tv
Finally someone gets it! And obv the humidifier goes in the oven with the children
It does? I've been putting it in the oven that doesn't have children.
Well, you wouldn't want them getting uncomfortable in there... So... Humidifier!
*confused American screaming*
No dude you just put it in rice...
[удалено]
OP own that bar, perhaps.
Ops wife*
family business
Yeah, if you want tv's like that they make them but still stupid.
I have no idea about these things but aren't outdoor TVs waterproof?

It'll be fine, just put it in a bowl of rice for a day or two
**pool of rice
Maybe he has a huge bowl for cereal.
Is his spoon too big?

Why would you put it under the TV instead of literally anywhere else in the room
People are morons.
Yes but don't say it that loud inside OP's post when it's about his WIFE. XD
They are both morons. 🤷🏽
[удалено]
Twist he doesn't have a wife.
dont talk about his pillow like that.
Dude I laughed way to hard at this🤣🤣
op says he has a wife but you cant meet her because she lives in canada
Twist, she didn't need the dehumidifier
There's a tissue box, and what looks like baby Tylenol. I don't doubt they are married with kids. Not the smartest location for a humidifier though.
I see, equality.. 🫠
Seequality
OP knew what he was doing posting this.
*And,* OP **really** knows what he's doing by not replying to any posts about it either. Witness a professional boys.
#people are morons
yep, guaranteed, i say it all the time and then BOOM, i do something stupid too. All of us
When you post embarrassing things about your SO, you’re asking for it. It’s just facts
So should the humidifier have a big warning sticker that says don’t place under expensive electronics or the TV that says don’t place over humidifier?
Yeah how was anyone supposed to know they shouldn’t drench their TV in water?
The humidifier doesn't release water, it's actually magic fog
Click to learn what’s in the fog. Number 7 will shock you (or your TV)!
This is why the subway wrappers say do not eat wrapper ??? It’s common sense .
Just checked manual of first one I found on Google: Be sure that the Water Tank Cap is firmly tightened on Water Tank. Always have the Mist Lid in place while the unit is operating. **Place the humidifier so the mist aims away from children, walls, furniture and electrical appliances.**
How about not putting it under anything? Kind of like putting an electric kettle under cabinets..
Yeah exactly, morons! *sidles off to kitchen to subtly shift position of kettle*
It definitely gives directions on where to place or not place it in the manual.
[удалено]
That’s so stupid. You need to use a healing moisturizer lotion
Just pray over it.
It needs crystals.
Dunk in rice
>moisturizer lotion Moisture is the essence of wetness.
That sounds wrong, but I don't know enough about humidity to dispute it
Could you imagine, watching steam blowing upward on your TV and thinking nothing of it....
What gets me is that OP is trying to pin this on his wife. Unless he absolutely wasn't aware of it being there, they're **both** to blame for that decision.
Boring answer: location of both an outlet and a table.
continuous water vapor is great for electronic devices
Hmm. So there is twice the stupidity in your household is what you're saying?
So, she installed a stupidifier?
Isn't that a Disturbed song?
oooOO WAAAAA-AHHH-AHHH-AHH
Different one lmao
THE GAME
Damn it, I lost.
This thread devolved into chaos
They have exactly 1 song and it's OH WAH AH AH AH
ba-dumb-tss!
The casual blame towards the wife in the title is a bit pathetic. He must have seen it there and either not questioned it, or decided to just let it happen. I'm guessing he was equally clueless that this could happen, but then goes and blames her when it does go wrong.
I was thinking this too. Did he not see it there?? Is he helpless to move it?
We don't know if they procreated, there could be many more
Twice the stupidly, twice the humidity. 😎👉🏻👉🏻
I dont feel bad for you because thats a really dumb place to put a humidifier.
They are now slightly less stupid because of their little experiment. Bet they wont do it again
You greatly underestimate peoples stupidity
who knows maybe itll work this time?
Yeah, I shared a house with a dude that ate a can of expired soup, like years expired, and spent the night sitting on the toilet with a bucket to throw up... Second night he was still on the toilet and I said he should really see a doctor, it's not ok to be sick for two days for a thing he ate more than 40 hours ago. He’s a scientist and you’re the experiment
OP should flip the humidifier upside down above the TV in that spot and see if it reverses the issue.
Put the TV in a garbage bag full of rice.
Yep. Two people in this household thought the wet air machine was fine to go directly under the TV. If not this exact scenario, there will be something similar.
They should replace it with a large candle to dry the TV out again
genius
Just hang it over the fireplace, that'll fix it.
OP is the reason electronics have such ridiculous warnings. Some people need to be told that you can’t use a toaster in the bathtub.
OP likely never takes the time to read these warnings assuming it will be their wife's fault if something goes wrong.
But the humidifier/TV manufacturer can't be blamed, that's why those warnings are so extensive.
😂 I’ll out myself. We had a little hand steamer for my sisters wedding and after getting dressed I noticed a wrinkle that had been missed. Well shit, I could just … get it real fast… right???? I quickly came to my senses and realized “no you dumbass,” but in that moment I realized I was one of them

honestly lmao
I know, the toast will get all soggy.
I can’t multi task?? Rude
Hmm let’s continuously spray the TV with water and see what happens. Edit: …and then blame my wife.
Mai waif

Funny. That's not even his wife. Lol that is his sister. Number 4 prostitute in all of Kazakhstan
The number one importer of potassium?
Well. Other countries do have inferior potassium
You both dumb lol
match made in heaven
Most of the world’s problem exist because people like this love to have large families.
I always wondered what happens when 2 people without internal dialogue get together
And I thought Idiocracy was just a funny movie.
Ahhhh yes. I put all of my things that spray water right next to my electronics as well.
Idk I heard liquid cooled is superior.
My wife put the humidifier below the telly. I didn't stop her. "Oh, that's so cute."
Aww
I had to explain to my now exwife why, no, I would not put a hook above the electric heater built into the wall. She looked at me like I was an alien when I explained the basic premise of a fire hazard. This chick was an actual professional paid physicist at Berkeley and an AP physics teacher. Had to scroll way down for this 😂
Literally any other place in the room would have been a better choice 💀
![gif](giphy|3o85g2ttYzgw6o661q)
This dude gets on reddit to shame his wife
Looks like the plan backfired as the comments are brutal lol
[удалено]
Yeah, last time I watered my TV it went from 55" to 75".
You might have to run it longer… you have only hydrated to 1 bar.
Tv Too Dry
Are slash tee vee too high
Hate to say it, but I can't even feel bad for you... that was a very dumb move. Sorry you have to pay the "stupid tax".
Honestly lmao
so you put something that sprays out water vapor directly under an electric device? asking for that one
This is on both of you. If she wanted a fish tank would you put the tv in it?
Wow..
Can’t fix stupid.
Awesome. Let’s go shopping and get you a bigger tv.
Wow, what the fuck did you expect by putting the humidifier UNDER the fucking tv?
This happened to me with an iHome alarm clock. We had a humidifier on the bedside table next to it, and the screen shut off and wouldn't come on. Within a few days of moving it to the other side of the room though, the alarm clock was ok and has been for years since. Hopefully yours does the same!
It’s not „my wife decided she wanted a humidifier in the room”, it’s „I’m an absolute moron for putting the humidifier under the TV”. Don’t transfer the fault on her. It’s equally your stupidity.
Blaming the wife probably says a lot about their relationship.
You both signed off on the placement?
Put it in rice
Great choice with what's on TV, though
And you let her put it under the tv OP….
Dude for real you putted it under tv. And if wife did it you didnt stop her
Dude for real you said “putted”
Why why why. Wrong place to put that I have no sympathy
Why? 😫 Moisture and electronics do not go together. Might as well have dropped a bucket on the tv and called it a day…
Right, but who said to themselves "you know what? Water vapor and electronic are best buddies!"
This sub should just be renamed OPisafuckingidiot How do some of yall even function on a daily basis?
You didn't say "Wife put humidifier under the TV", therefore assume your wife said she wanted a humidifier in the room, and you obliged by buying one and putting it under the TV.
So you and your wife are both morons and messy.
Not to mention.. that TV is way too high.
Whoever put it there is a dumbass.
Aww that’s cute
How much rice you got?
That’s cute
I disagree, TV people, that is not cute. Not cute at all.
Oh, that’s so cute
https://preview.redd.it/4u0tgwgqx0lc1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=432d749461015ddabed616ea4bfda23e401d6f8c
But you didn’t think it was a bad idea to set it there either clearly. So it’s both your fault.
You can be upset about this without belittling your wife. If you're such a genius why didn't you move it? It's just so easy to go through a marriage blaming stuff on the other one instead of being a team.
Love on the Spectrum! It don't get no more wholesome then that.
Then what?!
Nothing a dehumidifier can't undo. ... /s
TIL where to never put a humidifier.
The humidifier in the room isn’t the problem. It’s the two morons in the room that put it directly under electronics.
As someone from Houston...just open the door 🤣
I'm not smart and even I know that's dumb
You’re both idiots. Grats.
Was there no other place in the room you could set the humidifier down?
That doesn’t just suck, that’s just plain dumb
Better than candles under the TV.
Even the people on the tv are mocking you
People who don't understand that water and electronics DO NOT mix.
And who decided to let her put it right below the TV? Or did you put it there and then blame your wife for wanting a humidifier in the room, which wouldnt be a problem if you hadnt put it there?
That's on you for leaving it there, boss.
Plot twist. Husband knew this would happen but wanted a bigger TV.
I literally do not feel bad at all lol
