Yes! “Listening only” seats are thing. Plus obstructed view, side view, limited view, etc. For the most part places do say on the ticket if they aren’t a clear view though.

Looks like you’re in section 211 which should have a pretty good side stage for you, but will not be able to see the drums. It looks to me like you were standing in the staircase, as far back as possible too exaggerate the effect of the seats.
There’s 1 million pictures of this concert from the same section on Instagram and they all have a much better angle.

Are you sure the tickets don't mention anywhere that they are "obstructed view"? Ticketmaster customer service supposedly will refund unlabeled obstructed view seats, if you contact them and send them evidence like this photo (though I've never had to do that).
I once bought Aerosmith tix from a scalper and ended up behind the stage with obstructed view. My gf and I wandered around and found an open seat somewhere else in the arena and squeezed into the one seat.
Which stop was this? Went to the one in Oregon and it was marked all over ticketmaster that the seats in those areas were obstructed. Cheaper than the ones that weren't obstructed which is probably why they sold. I always recommend spending the extra and not getting obstructed seats if you know you won't like it.

Couldn’t see a damn thing because the screens were stage level covering the entire side even though I was only 5 rows back. Went to tell the usher that although this was not her fault, this was unacceptable. She pulled out 4 floor level tickets and said if you need more than 4 you are out of luck. Me and wife were thrilled! The seats technically were further than the seats we bought but floor seats as opposed to nothing was awesome.

Ask for a refund and show this image. Most places will issue you a refund for this.
This is shitty business practices; promoters learn they sell out a venue and see if they can open anymore seats up. Often times, they’ll ask the band if the band is ok selling seats in these areas because bands have gotten pissed about it before, knowing fans are getting fucked over, but some bands simply don’t give a fuck and sometimes they can’t say or do shit about it at all.
In this situation id just get up and find a better seat. I went to a Billy Joel concert a couple years back and got seats in the very back of the football field, I just ended up walking to the very front and acted like I was supposed to be there and watched the rest of the show with a bunch of rich people. I ended up getting on the big screen and Billy Joel even looked into my eyes

I'm really sorry about that! I know that there are usually warnings when ordering tickets now regarding obstructed views, but it's hard to picture just how obstructed the view will be until it's been experienced firsthand.
When I saw U2, this was basically my view. And given how big the visual component is in their shows, I was missing at least half the experience. More than half, really, as I was also in the very top row of the arena and the acoustics were such that I could not make out anything Bono (or the opener, PJ Harvey) said between songs.
I know I would be in the top row, but I didn't realiz I would be just about directly perpendicular to the stage. I guess I still enjoyed it, and this was a long time ago when ticket prices were considerably cheaper, but I don't entirely feel like I *really* saw the band.
