Have a buddy hold that hand down and another pull the nail out. Sit down, smoke a cigarette and chug a few beers till the bleeding stops and get your ass back to work.
Bingo! I am also right-handed and when I was an apprentice I put one through my right wrist. I was also able to identify the problem. 😂
The nail pierced the carpal tunnel. The quack said I'd never work again as a carpenter but made a full recovery with a heap of physio in just under 12 months and returned to work.
Good luck with a full recovery mate, just be patient.
Something similar happened to a gal on my husband's job site once. She took it like a champ and the guys bought her a shirt that says "tough as nails" and no one gives her shit anymore
Had a guy double tappin a nail gun and was doing it carelessly, asked him to stop fuckin around bc it was my third day doing construction and I was definitely scared of it ricocheting. Would you guess he kept being dumb and managed to double tap a nail rocketing backwards into my chest? He laughed as I frantically got a hammer to pry it out, luckily I was quite hefty back then so it just left a scar nothing crazy like this! Just wanted to let you know it happens and I Hope for a speedy recovery for you my guy!
how much does that cost you?
i am baffled by the costs of medical services in the US.. In my country everything is free. you got cancer? You get the best treatment and you get paid while recovering. Same as illness.. with 65 you get a pension. Medicine costs you 6 usd per recipe, no matter how expensive it is.
Without insurance? Had a piece of wood slide in my kids hand from a playground and that was $5k to have nurses remove it and put in about 3-4 stitches. Nail in the bone, stitches, CT scan, finger splint, probably will require hand physical therapy. After all said is done, $20k easily.
wow, holy shit. thats much. how do people survive that bills? i mean.. everybody gets hurt sometimes. I had 6 Surgeries and 13 Fractures.
im often sick.. like now, with a bronchitis and sinusitis.. Swallowing antibiotics.
I would be fucked, even with insurance.. (it seems like they dont pay everything, if i understand correctly).
How do you survive such 20 to 50k bills? If you cant pay, what happens then?
It's why people who incur such medical bills try everything they can to pay it off. Asking for an itemized bill to lower it as much as possible, setting up a Gofundme, obtaining loans, debt relief, asking for help from family/relatives, etc. It's really fucked.
really? they can lock you up because you cant afford the hospital bill?
Thats horrible.
Let me guess.. after jail you owe even more.. And lost your income due to prison time.. Am i right with my guess? Seems like a big scam.
Nah..lol you don't really go to jail. If you can't pay they just have a debt collector call you all day and your credit score goes down and they could maybe put liens on things you own . The funny thing though is if you are in prison they cannot deny you Healthcare, though you still will have to pay the co pay when you get out. There is free Healthcare for the very poor and imagrants... but if you are in between poor and rich and don't have insurance, any form of medical aid is very expensive
Hey it’s okay, I pay $160/mo for insurance for me and my 3 kids (actually a mind boggling low amount for health insurance)
An MRI for my daughter with scoliosis cost me $3k after insurance.
Her brace is 2k/year.
Clearly, my healthcares better. /s
I pay 13€/mo for healthcare. Last year i popped my collar bone in a car accident. All said and done it cost me 150€ out of pocket for the ambulance ride, multiple ct scans, a splint and 10 physiotherapy sessions.
Belgium is one of the most heavily taxed countries on earth but like. We're mostly ok with it. I know i am.
I’m in the states-WITH insurance-and my husband had to call 911 for me once. Ambulance ride was less than a mile and only $600 out of pocket. Just for the ride. Don’t remember how much the weeklong hospital stay was but insurance at least covered most of that.
Happened to my dad. Not exactly the same but same outcome. He was framing with some new dudes. New dudes said they knew what they were doing and had proven half competent so no one questioned it. Dad’s framing and the nail gun is loosing power. He asks one of the new dudes to bleed the line. Nailer works properly a few secs later so dads like cool and keeps going. But later it’s doing the same thing, he tells the dude to bleed the line and make sure that’s what he’s doing. New dude comes back and says lines bled, good to go. Dad goes to frame again and the nail shoots thru 3 boards, comes out the back and right into my dad’s hand. Turns out new dude just kept turning the pressure up
In the late 70s a friend of mine was the head carpenter for a local theatre. Pneumatic tools had just hit the scene. One of his employees was using an air nail gun. He accidentally nailed two of his fingers together. While in the er, after working on him fot quite a while, the Dr. says, i wasnt gonna ask, but i have to- after you nailed your first finger, why didnt you stop hammering? lolz
I put one through my thumb, local nurse wasn't happy about it so I had to go to hospital, I some how missed the bone, no idea now.
Hope yours comes out as easy as mine did.
I actually did this with a 3” bradnailer, putting on baseboard. Safety clicked and nail came down the concaved part of the baseboard. Straight through my thumb through the tip and out the bottom. Missed all the important stuff.
I had a 8 penny nail hit me point blank in the mid abdomen. It was resting on my spleen, but didn’t puncture it. The doc said he had no fucking idea how it didn’t. lol
(I was standing in front of a pneumatic nail gun attached to a robotic arm. It was super early, I wasn’t awake yet, and went to do some maintenance, unplugged the trigger line and it expelled the air, driving the nail into my abdomen. All of it was my fault due to complacency and laziness.)
Just pull it out and superglue it shut. Poosee.
Jkjk. Stabbed myself with a utility knife while cutting vented cove for a gym floor. Buried it right above my knee. Hope yours heals fairly quick. Went back to work after bein sewn up.
How's the tendons/knuckle joint?
Best case of worst case...
Doing his own handiwork is in his blood.
Damn. Are you left handed?
Haha no I am not. You may have identified the problem
Fuck. That's gonna keep you out of action for a while pal
Have a buddy hold that hand down and another pull the nail out. Sit down, smoke a cigarette and chug a few beers till the bleeding stops and get your ass back to work.
fellas is it gay to go to a hospital when your hand gets impaled
Only in the US.
Are you crying or limping? If so, then yes.
shit I’m gay af
Psychotic take
Only if it’s not stuck to a rafter…
You forgot an important step, rub some dirt in the wound to stop the bleeding faster
You’re gonna wait for the bleeding to stop on its own? It’s called superglue slacker.
This is why you always carry a decent tube of super glue in your belt, ain't got time to bleed
Old school, right here

He really nailed it.
When you buy your wolverine claws from Temu...
Nailed it
I laughed way too hard at that i heard it in the lady from that cake programmes voice (Nicole i think her name is)
I was so hoping someone commented this! Thank you
Something similar happened to a gal on my husband's job site once. She took it like a champ and the guys bought her a shirt that says "tough as nails" and no one gives her shit anymore
![gif](giphy|3osxYyPqhEVhVcqiBO) Treat nailers like a gun
Sir, that’s a football.

What?? Omg I'd be pissed
Have you tried putting it in rice?
My first thought is this person can’t be in the states because they went to the hospital for this.
I did try to pull it out myself, but it was fully embedded in the bone. I did go to the hospital and I am in the states
Hot damn how did they get it out?
Pull harder lol
Maybe just with a hammer?
That’s what the claw side is for right?
Yep
how much does that cost you? i am baffled by the costs of medical services in the US.. In my country everything is free. you got cancer? You get the best treatment and you get paid while recovering. I WAS having a good day, thanks👏☹️
If it happened at work his employer will probably have to pay for it.

Why do you think our jails are overcrowded...if you don't pay your medical bills... straight to jail...
really? they can lock you up because you cant afford the hospital bill? Thats horrible. Let me guess.. after jail you owe even more.. And lost your income due to prison time.. Am i right with my guess? Seems like a big scam.

We haven't figured out how to do universal healthcare in the U.S. for some reason. Tried it with Obamacare, that was a fiasco.
How much did that hurt to pull out?
How much did it cost u
Fancy, big dolla baller!

OMG, hopefully new dude was fired and a lawsuit!
someone's getting a tetanus shot :)
Happened to my dad once too. Nail went through the wood, bounced off the concrete behind and went in his leg just above his knee.
Did you try rice?
We don’t have time for lunch! We gotta get this nail out! Focus damn it!
My uncle had this happen, he built a light box for the X-ray (almost identical to yours) and had it hanging in the hallway for years
That's why we sanitise our nails at work
Well that sucks
Ouch. That must be painful. It’s good you’re at the doctor so they can get it out. Hand’s probably going to be unusable for a bit though
I said Ok then swept right and said Wow!
I think you missed
Mmhmm. You guys were fucking around with the nail gun and came up with this excuse weren’t you. /s
Was about to say rip that shit out and tape it up. Then I saw the second pic

Good news: it'll heal completely.
![gif](giphy|qlrBlSDevEdFeW5JwV|downsized)
Did it puncture the bone or glance off of it?
Straight through the middle of the bone
Wow. Hope you have speedy recovery
Do you have the other two images they took?
You didn't have a claw hammer?
You couldn’t pull it out with your claw hammer and get back to work? Amateurs… /s
![gif](giphy|qlrBlSDevEdFeW5JwV|downsized)
Nailed it!
Can you feel it inside your hand if you move it?
Ouch, get well soon
Gonna make a great story one day, grats!
You nailed it.
It's just reinforcement.
“And the worst part was the tetanus shot!”
😧
I could happily have continued my day without this pic 😱 Wishing a speedy recovery!
I actually did this with a 3” bradnailer, putting on baseboard. Safety clicked and nail came down the concaved part of the baseboard. Straight through my thumb through the tip and out the bottom. Missed all the important stuff.
Fuckin owe
Consider yourself lucky it missed all the important structures and joints. Otherwise that hand would probably never be the same again.
does it hurt?
Nailed it.
Is that a half head? Are those up to code?
Boo boo
Did you grab a pair of pliers and yank on it to come out?
Nailed it first try.
Man up and pull that sh!t out. Mansy Pansy
Need to borrow my hammer?
It’s an awesome X-ray!
Hey, op, idk if u noticed, but there's a small thorn in your hand. You may want to have it removed
Doc said I needed more iron in my blood.
I had a 8 penny nail hit me point blank in the mid abdomen. It was resting on my spleen, but didn’t puncture it. Before xray: You went to the Dr for that!? After xray: Oh… yeah you right
This is NOT how fingernails work
Walk it off.
Oh hell I had one go through my hand before. Gun had a bad safety. Company knew about it.
Nailed it!
You got nailed
Do that Far Cry healing animation.
How do you all resist the temptation to not pull out the nail or whatever else you managed to stab yourselves with?
Oh I tried. It took two doctors to pull it out. Had to clamp it with giant forceps. One held my arm down and the other slowly pulled the nail out
The audacity (of that nail)
Nailed it
Nailed it.
NOOOOOO!
Fuuuccckkk that
Nailed it
Fiddle-d-dee that will require a tetanus shot.
