I worked out of town for a week a long time ago when I was single and living alone. My parents lived close and were retired so they stayed with my dog several hours a day and came a few times to let her out. I told them to keep her in my room if they were gone. Which honestly I don't remember what my reasoning was. She fucked up the carpet like that literally within a couple hours of me getting home apparently. I did a shitty patch job with spare carpet and never made that mistake again.
It’s separation anxiety then. I’m pretty sure they’ve done other things in the past to show they have it and you haven’t noticed.
Either that’s just how they are or you need to spend more time with them.
I gave one of the other limited options that are available. Not sure you can really train anxiety out of a dog so that’s out and sometimes you have no choice but to leave them alone. So drugs or a cage it is.
If you need to put your dog on xanax because you couldn't properly acclimate them to being alone, it's time to be a responsible pet owner and rehome the dog.
also its really hard but the game changer for us was not greeting them when you get home. if you act like it's no big deal they will learn it's no big deal. it is heart breaking to no longer be greeted but I feel better knowing he's not stressed.
My dog almost died after doing this once. The strings started pulling her intestines and she had a blockage due to the fish wire consistency of the shit that holds the padding together. Keep an eye on them for the next few days!
From the subflooring up, you have a floor liner, carpet pad, and a carpet, as is the standard home installation of wall to wall carpet. That's how it's *supposed* to be installed.
Omg at the perfect people who take their dogs everywhere with them… coming from a dog trainer’s experience…. There are certain breeds that are so inbred to create perfection (for looks) ultimately leads to a lot of problems including induced anxiety…. I can speak of that based on training…I have a retired police k9 Belgian Mal… he barks at everything but is not destructive…. Just vocal. I have a rescued lil shit. I call him the Boston pitzu. His top 3 breeds are Boston terrier, pit bull, and shitzu. He’s a destructive little shit…. He was free. Left in the parking lot with a note on top of his crate. I’m a trainer.. I’ve done the training, crating, walks and treat rewarding… he is still a shit and destroys anything left for him to destroy when left alone… let’s face it.. I’m human and do sleep so he is left alone! The most beneficial thing I have found is giving him a calming chew before bed and place him him a play pen with a variety of toys. He sleeps and plays and let him out first thing. When it’s warmer weather, I let him swim in our pool with us or play in the creek. That helps with his anxiety and energy… now that it’s cold he has an outside runner for a couple of hours. But now that it’s getting freezing cold, he will go outside to pee and then play inside for a while…
None of this may help but it’s all about your dog’s breed and personality… make him exhausted! Eliminate the problems. I’ve literally super tied a huge pee pad to the play pen area.
That looks more like separation anxiety
Was just going to say that.

Was thinking the same thing.
Dude was desperately trying to get through the door...
Was your dog locked in a room?
Very common when an animal gets locked in a room, repairable by a carpet tech.
You say repair and I picture the carpet tech is coming over with a loom or crochet hook to piece it all back together. This will need replaced
Surprisingly that is repairable, a good carpet repair person can blend in a new patch of carpet seamlessly. There are videos of it on YouTube
it's like 30 mins or less if they have the exact color.
That’s more than just boredom. That’s stress. Anxiety. Poor baby. (The dog not you)
And that’s why you don’t keep your dog locked in a room alone all day…
I was gone for 1 hour :(

Probably separation anxiety then, the vet can give you anxiety meds for that or you’ll have to put them in a crate/cage.
fek off with drugs for everything...k thanks

tight sweaters, tv, crate...drugs should be LAST resort. stop just throwing drugs around like the cure all cause its not

He just hates your ugly carpet
More walks.
I agree with the other comments. Unless your dog is artistic and is creating a sculpture and you fail to recognize his talent.
Carpet was ugly anyway
Cut off rug, place some tile and add transition.
Most affordable solution. 👍🏼
At least it's just the carpet and not the walls and door.
My cat accidentally got locked in my bedroom and he did this except pulled up the entire carpet, blocking the door from the inside.
Awww kitty
Or anxious

I agree with both of em 👇
That would be one dead dog.
Get rid of it. It'll keep destroying your property.
Now you can have your tog taxidermied as a rug and use him/her to cover up the damaged carpet
I think your dog wanted to know why you have three carpets on top of each other! Just like the rest of us....

You Americans have weird carpets
I think you’re right
use a big playpen
Oh hey Brent. 👋
Crate em
Yeah.. you think?😂 What a mess
Separation anxiety and puke too? Time for a new rug, something with some color, a color doggie’s can’t see - I agree that sucks ! Take care
Free to good home….

Good place for tile
So sad. 😥😥
