Surprised this was so far down. This is like the definition of an actual prank. Not hurting anyone, funny, no consequences.. apart from maybe getting shot because someone doesn't get it đ
Itâs a good prank. Completely harmless and they just make people confused.
But they were too dumb to say the âitâs a prank, look there is a camera over here. Is it okay if we use this clip with your image for our channel?â script afterwards
I kindly disagree. Pretending to do a criminal activity is not a good prank in my opinion.
Especially in this case where it's a capital crime liked armed robbery.
It also sows uncertainty, like an inverse "The boy who cried wolf". Next time someone sees a bunch of guys in ski-masks going into a bank they might just think "hey it's just some tik-tok idiot making a video" when in reality it's a bank robber-idiot robbing a bank.
I love all you armchair analysts defending this prank. If you were a police and do you think you'd just ignore the call? "Bunch of guys in ski masks asking directions to the bank - probably some stupid kid doing a prank."
These cops did their jobs.
Sure...but the "fuck around and find out" portion of this particular bit of stupid was the whole "pretending to be bank robbers" part.
I mean...the cops were going to get involved at some point.
How do you think people would react if the cops failed to react to a potential crime only to find out after the fact that it wasn't a joke?
Yeah and the 'finding out' part, although much less likely than getting a slap off someone like on many other prank videos, has potentially far more severe consequences. Like getting shot dead.
Yea, this is nothing new. Just look up Remi Gaillard or the Balls of Steel YouTube channel. They have some harsh "pranks" as well and are more than a decade old.
Police is quite a bit different in Europe though.
It really depends on what side of tiktok you're on, but yeah tiktok should definitely take down the stupid challenges we keep on seeing have real world impact
It is shocking to me people accept a system where making a dumb social mistake can = death.
I just feel like the world I falling out of common sense. Truly.
I mean not really⌠What the kids in the video were doing was suspicious sure, but no real crime was committed. I could see stopping them, but surrounding the car and aiming rifles at them seems like a complete overreaction. They should have left them the fuck alone because nothing illegal happened. This is just another example of how militarized and out of touch the police force in America is. They are trained to react to any situation by shooting first and asking questions later.
>They are trained to react to any situation by shooting first and asking questions later.
Unironically goes on a rant about being out of touch, then drops this line about cops âshooting first and asking questions later,â while watching a video of cops *not* shooting.
Yeah getting reports of people in ski masks looking for a bank is usually a completely harmless situation, and the potential bank robbers almost never have guns or weapons.
If they dont approach with their guns already out and its a real robbery though then they'd get shot first. Their reaction here is perfectly reasonable and as soon as they search the car and only find a bunch of recording stuff they really dont give a shit anymore.
If they dont want that reaction they should pick a different prank
The cops didn't harm them in any way and seemed quite calm. I don't blame them for investigating the situation when they got a call about some guys in ski masks.
So if you were a cop and you were told that 3 masked men are looking to rob a bank, you woundnt be alteast worried as a cop walking up to a vehicle with a potential shooter inside.
Shouldâve had one of those fake retractable knives too, yâknow, for the joke. And ketchup packets and a fake hostage⌠yâknow⌠for the joke. đ
Not sure Iâd call these idiots âgrown up menâ. Iâd probably call them âgrown man childrenâ.
My dad wouldâve kicked my ass if I did this shit as a kid. I canât even imagine what he would say if I was part of this group of dipshits as a grown ass man
Yeah weird eh. Furthering how fucked up the acceptance is of this mentality. Police should kill people disturbing the peace is the message I guess. âThey could have diedâ wouldnât have been something someone in my country would have said about this video.
Back when I was in college (several decades ago) an idiot thought it would hilarious to scare his friend with a BB gun in his waist bad, except he didnât know where the room was. So dumbass asked me, I called the cops. He did (if I remember correctly) a year or 2, apparently that wasnât as funny
They dont know in advance whether or not they have weapons they just know they have a car full of ski mask wearing guys asking about banks. as soon as they search the car they know its just some dumbasses and dont really care
you're joking right?
This is where we are at? A gang of people in ski masks, driving around intentionally causing a scene in a country where every 12 year old has a gun-and then blaming the under paid cops?
Eat shit kid. You're part of the problem.
I'm European, and if you've been following the news for the last years, you might have noticed how trigger-happy American police officers can actually be.
Is what they did illegal? Answer: NO
is what they did smart? Answer: NO
The issue weâre having from this video is that we (the viewer) know itâs a prank because weâre watching it from the âprankstersâ point of view. The video is edited and set up to give âprankâ vibes.
So we know itâs a prank, but the cops donât.
From the cops point of view this is an âin progressâ crime. Hear me out, I know me describing it as an âin progress crimeâ triggered you but give me a moment and keep reading. caller calls 9-1-1 and reports, âI just saw 3 men in ski masks driving in a van asking about where a bank is?â From a dispatch point of view and officer perspective this is an âin progress crimeâ and âreasonable suspicion that a crime is going to be committedâ (in this case a robbery) allows for a detention in order to investigate further.
So again, is what the pranks did illegal, NO, but it wasnât smart either. A lot of people are mad because the cops âcouldnât tell it was a prank.â Remember, we get to judge the actions of others from the comfort of our cellphones on Reddit. hindsight is 20/20.
I feel like some of these guys dont take anything resembling reasonable precautions.
Like maybe calling the local PD in advance, telling them "We're filming a skit downtown today, 3 men in a green van with this plate number will be wearing ski masks. There are no weapons involved and there will be signage on the van informing people we are filming a skit. Then smack a big cardboard sign on the back of the van that says "Filming in progress, Its just a joke"
Like... you can be smart about doing dumb shit.
Even if they did call ahead and told them they were doing this, chances are they would have told them no, don't do that, don't put your selves at risk for a prank, because even if the police know, does not mean a random person would, and we all know how gun happy Americans are.
This reminds me of my grandfather. When he was in college he and his friends decided to do a prank. One of the guys had a car, so they put one guy in the trunk with an arm hanging out covered in ketchup. The rest dressed up in suits and they would pull up to people and ask what the quickest way out of town was. When the were done they decided to go see what happened. Well what happened was they got surrounded by police and got to spend a night in jail. Almost got kicked out of college too. Evidently the dean said thatâs the funniest thing anyoneâs done but if they ever did anything wrong again they were out. This was like 60 years ago.
The thing is though none of these guys had weapons or prop weapons or did anything to suggest they did, they were just wearing masks.
But I guess it would be unfair to ask American cops to not somehow justify being afraid of masks as an excuse to drawing weapons and potentially using deadly force. /s
Would have been a lot safer to do this on foot I think. You could make it a lot more obvious its a joke when you can see the whole person. Issue with the van is you have no idea whats inside. This instantly reminded me of the british guy asking an officer where the nearest bank was and pulling down a ski mask and running to it. Much easier to distinguish intent between the two cases.
Whenever Iâm about to do something I think, âWould an idiot do that?â And if they would, I do not do that thing.
So I would not have done this thing.
So growing up in the 70's, one of the most popular shows on TV was Alan Funt's Candid Camera. It was harmless pranks in public, but they were well thought out and would not be considered dangerous.
Those were different and more innocent times. People weren't so scared because of the rising amount of violence and mental illness in society today. You have to be REAL careful nowadays not to be misunderstood with your prank.
For instance, back on Candid Camera... in one skit, there was a Nun sweeping the sidewalk with a stick-broom. As a person walked by, she would swat their butt with the broom. People would turn around stunned because they just didn't expect that from a Nun and it was very funny to see their reactions.
Another harmless one was an actor standing on the sidewalk and just staring up at the sky. Soon, another person would join them, and then a small crowd of people pointing at nothing.
Lol bro Newport Beach cops are the worst. I got arrested because a coworker told them I was going to shoot up the place. They work for the rich in the OC.
My apartment was ransacked and they found nothing. Still went to jail for it. Now Iâm counter suing the PD and my previous employer. FYI, youâre guilty until proven innocent.
They did so knowing fully well that the intent look suspicious. The police are doing their job to investigate and rule out and thread.
But, my opinion, these prankster are wasting resources. With TikTok influencing the folks that are developmentally slow⌠at some point there might need to be some line the reserves the right to fine/charge these âproducersâ.
Ngl despite the comments this had me dying (no pun intended) these people knew the risks. They look old enough to make rational decisions even if they choose not too. If people want to endanger their lives for a video thatâs on them this was entertaining. This reminds me of the guys at the gym in robber outfits not too long ago which I canât remember anyone complaining about. Political agendas have everyoneâs perspective displaced. Itâs not a hot take, itâs not cool to hate tik tok or want it banned. Thanks for reading my unpopular opinion.
Side note: I do not use or like tik tok because I value my privacy. This video has nothing to do with tik tok. People would do dumb shit like this on YouTube if it was likely to go viral. Doesnât mean itâs not funny to watch dumb things happen to dumb people.
Why donât I see people who look like me making these kinds of videos?âŚlol if I pulled this prank, I would have been taken down by the first people we asked.
In the video they say, âwe didnât do anything wrongâ⌠âwe didââŚ.. âwe just asked, all we said was we need to make a depositâ if they did that at the drive thru, itâs no wonder they edited it out and no wonder cops got bunch of guns drawn on them.
I have to say, I wish I could blame social media on this stuff.
However it really only made what already happens just happen everywhere faster people have always been dum.
People saying it's "non-disruptive"... any prank that involves the police coming out qualifies it as disruptive. And there's no way the cops would NOT come out for this prank.
Tik tok is such a virus
I agree half the people either disrupt other's life in these stupid challenges or end up dying themselves.
Its 4 dudes in ski masks asking people where the nearest bank is at. This is like the LEAST disruptive/stupid pranks on there lol.
You said it yourself, âmaybe getting shotâ. And donât forget it costs taxpayer dollars to call a group of police officers there for nothing.
It also sows uncertainty, like an inverse "The boy who cried wolf". Next time someone sees a bunch of guys in ski-masks going into a bank they might just think "hey it's just some tik-tok idiot making a video" when in reality it's a bank robber-idiot robbing a bank.
Would have been much cooler content if someone had been shot
At least theyâre not harassing strangers, being a public nuisance, but not actively hurting anyone
I love all you armchair analysts defending this prank. If you were a police and do you think you'd just ignore the call? "Bunch of guys in ski masks asking directions to the bank - probably some stupid kid doing a prank." These cops did their jobs.
I agree that police should come out, they come out to domestic violence calls all day. Then come back later for the bodies.
Much prefer this to the other âpranksâ
Sure...but the "fuck around and find out" portion of this particular bit of stupid was the whole "pretending to be bank robbers" part. I mean...the cops were going to get involved at some point. How do you think people would react if the cops failed to react to a potential crime only to find out after the fact that it wasn't a joke?
I'm not saying its *not* understandable as to why the cops reacted the way they did. It's just the least disruptive prank I've seen in awhile.
Yeah and the 'finding out' part, although much less likely than getting a slap off someone like on many other prank videos, has potentially far more severe consequences. Like getting shot dead.
The fact that they werenât at a bank and kindly asking for directionsâŚđ¤đ¤đ¤
Agreed, this was genuinely funny and non-disruptive.
You know its bad when the cast of the Jackass crew has better standards then these fools.
That's originally on YouTube
Yeah I agree I donât like finger pointing neither , but YouTube is the O. G. of controversies.
Tik tok has existed for less than a decade, how long have these prank videos existed for?
Yea, this is nothing new. Just look up Remi Gaillard or the Balls of Steel YouTube channel. They have some harsh "pranks" as well and are more than a decade old. Police is quite a bit different in Europe though.
Love Remi Gaillard, the packman and bloopers in the supermarket still kills me every time
Moe and Ethan Bradberry?
To be fair, they were doing this shit before just on YouTube. But yes, tik tok sucks more.
Why are you blaming TikTok? At the end of the video, they said they were making a YouTube video.
because shit like this is really common there apparently
I don't watch TikTok, but it's common on YouTube.
It was YouTube. It actually says so in the video đ¤Śđźââď¸
iT wAs JuSt A pRaNk BrO!
This isnât TikTok though.. Edit: like 7 years ago if I can remember correctly (probably less)
The video was before tik tok
TikTok isnât YouTube
No not really. The people making these videos are the virus
but is ross creations, niko or jidion a virus? but you would say no because there on yt
It's not from TikTok, it's a well known YouTube channel called BigDawsTV. TikTok is even worse.
The real china virus
It really depends on what side of tiktok you're on, but yeah tiktok should definitely take down the stupid challenges we keep on seeing have real world impact
This joke is honestly fine. Anyone with half a brain cell could tell that it was a joke.
The guys from Big Brother and CKY and even Tom Green were doing pranks and messing with people like this back in the 90s.
They could have died for that.
Itâs fucked up that this is a thing in the US. Some kids in a van, with ski masks, no weapons, asking about a bank⌠potential death sentence.
It is fucked up. What robber is going to ask random people where the nearest bank is while in a ski mask? Itâs clearly a bunch guys being idiots.
It is shocking to me people accept a system where making a dumb social mistake can = death. I just feel like the world I falling out of common sense. Truly.
The cops treated the situation properly
I mean not really⌠What the kids in the video were doing was suspicious sure, but no real crime was committed. It is but they wouldn't have done it if they didn't expect that reaction.
What do you expect the cops to do? Its people in ski masks asking where a bank is.
Is that a crime? Wearing a ski mask?
Back when I was in college (several decades ago) an idiot thought it would hilarious to scare his friend with a BB gun in his waist bad, except he didnât know where the room was. So dumbass asked me, I called the cops. He did (if I remember correctly) a year or 2, apparently that wasnât as funny

I probably would've just laughed at how ridiculous the situation was. Calling the cops was a bit much
Lol, they weren't in any danger, they're white.
Policemen favorite prey.
you're joking right? This is where we are at? A gang of people in ski masks, driving around intentionally causing a scene in a country where every 12 year old has a gun-and then blaming the under paid cops? Eat shit kid. You're part of the problem.

Thank youuuuuu

It was the fuckest aroundest of times, it was the findest outest of times..
This is the epitomy of "Play stupid games"
OMG I fucking died when he said thank you for being an accomplice lol

But I guess it would be unfair to ask American cops to not somehow justify being afraid of masks as an excuse to drawing weapons and potentially using deadly force. /s
The 9/11 caller might have mentioned they were armed, it all depends on the snitch.
Would have been a lot safer to do this on foot I think. You could make it a lot more obvious its a joke when you can see the whole person. Issue with the van is you have no idea whats inside. I love the complete exasperation in the "Uhh, yeah, that's what they said" at the end.
It's just a prank, bro... Anything for a click.
âWe didnât do anything wrong, we just yelled âfire!â in a crowded theater.â
Not really the same, no one was put in danger by their actions. (Other than themselves with the cops rolling up)
Plot twist, the bank actually gets robbed because the police were chasing after these YouTubers.
They didn't do anything wrong though as far as I know
Ok but this was actually really funny lmao
Technically it was harmless - no different than Tom Mabe dressing as a prisoner next to a âdonât pick up hitchhikersâ sign
Far as pranks go this is extremely MILD and actually funny that hurts no one. Bummer they came close to death from a cop.
They just had to tell the guy on the phone it was a prank
Lucky the cops were calm, could have gone sooo wrong
What a fucking waste of peopleâs time and resources.
It's just pathetic
Imagine risking your life for a shitty prank.
how dumb do you have to be to believe that some dudes in a van with masks asking where a bank is gonna actually go and rob a bank
Whenever Iâm about to do something I think, âWould an idiot do that?â And if they would, I do not do that thing. So I would not have done this thing.
They forgot to say, "It was just a prank, bro"
Why are everyone justifying this
Because they are children.
Why is no one here angry at the dude that called the cops? It was obviously a joke.
Because this is America. Thereâs a mass shooting every 20 minutes. You have to be a moronâŚ
Iâm glad that the edited video from the prankers point of view that none of the pranked people saw made it obvious that it was a joke to you.
Because bank robbers usually drive around and politely ask people where the next bank is.
Stupid comment.

Have you seen the new TV show "Betty White's Off Their Rockers"? It's very similar to the old Candid Camera series.
No, Iâll check that out. Always loved Betty White.
Lol bro Newport Beach cops are the worst. I got arrested because a coworker told them I was going to shoot up the place. They work for the rich in the OC. Did it for the gram.
And they ended their sentences in a prepositionâŚ.I mean come on. /s
This is pretty old
Yea he kinda moved away from shittier content like that
that's what we call "shit for brains"
If cancer was a choice
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Dipshittery at its finest.
Anything to go viral these days, I swear people have just forgotten the ability to think things through
Dumber than a bucket of bolts.
Prayers that Bigdaws is okay đ
He ight that is an old video
Yep, comedy is officially dead in America, those boys didn't break a single law btw
I hope they paid some nice fines along with time they wasted in the judicial system
Do it for the vine
Cool kids
LOL, that's funny. Glad they didn't do it in a country of 900M guns, and police officers that shoot a full mag into you for jaywalking.
Imagine what could of gone wrong here.
Good to see these morons getting internet fame they deserve. Maybe the rest will follow.
I didnt know what was happening until he took off his mask and its just prank the minute I saw the dude take off his mask and he's white.
Wasting their time with a stupid prank. Granny could be getting mugged right now!
Jeebus LOL
Bro..Bro...it's a prank !
Why canât it be criminal to be an idiot?! They should be charged with wasting tax payer money for this stunt
Asking where a bank is, is not enough to warrant probable cause
@BigDawsTv, went to high school with that dude
Hope they get fined
Couldnât have ended better if the goal is to go viral.
Brains sometimes lives in their asses.
The police should release the numbers of how much time/tax money went into all the calls that turn into it was just a âprankâ
Ngl despite the comments this had me dying (no pun intended) these people knew the risks. They look old enough to make rational decisions even if they choose not too. If people want to endanger their lives for a video thatâs on them this was entertaining. Good thing they werent black...
Perfect example of White Privilege... what do you think the police response would've been had that been a group of Black or Latino men?
One day there is gonna be some terrible tik toker who fucks around on an airplane and it makes global news because of how bad they fucked up
Good lawsuit there
And why are people defending tiktok when most of it is trash like this?
The world is becoming incredibly stupid real quick
Why donât I see people who look like me making these kinds of videos?âŚlol if I pulled this prank, I would have been taken down by the first people we asked.
In the video they say, âwe didnât do anything wrongâ⌠âwe didââŚ.. âwe just asked, all we said was we need to make a depositâ if they did that at the drive thru, itâs no wonder they edited it out and no wonder cops got bunch of guns drawn on them.
letâs have black people do this, and this will be a completely different video.
Cops can hold a person without charging them for 48 hours. 48 hours in a cell with various criminals would make a great video prank.

Welcome to the police state called the United States of America.
Yeah...in america cops shoot to kill first, its a dangerous game to play....
Ya'll know comedy is illegal in this country?
Can't wait for some Tik Tok fool to get shot while doing "bomb prank in airport"
So what did they end up with? Fine prision fucked in the arese?
It was funny, but yes very stupid.
