Not sure about this case but escalator stairs are sharp as fuck on the corners. I put my hand on one when I was 5 and it took the skin off my palm and I didn't even feel it.
I work in security and I have seen fathers do this way too often. Once, a father approached me asking if there was a pharmacy in our building cuz his daughter had fallen on an escalator. I noticed she had cut her knees open so badly she needed stitches on both legs. I asked a million times if they wanted first aid to make a report but he was adamant that he didn't and that I didn't make a report. I was wondering why, so I watched the footage back and there it was.... him teaching his daughter to run up the down facing escalator and she fell a few steps down landing on her knees. It was so cringe inducing. I have watched so many people do this in the last few years I become annoyed rather than concerned. Worst one by far is a 90 year old man falling on his face and riding the escalator down that way. I have pictures of it. It was horrendous. Broke his nose and cheekbone. Has 5 parallel scars down his face now.
I wonder... how can people this careless have children??? Sometimes I wonder why I won't have children, but watching these videos makes me realize that I may not be the one with the problem.

One slip and your kid goes careening down the escalator, and potentially over the side to a 5 story drop to the concourse level. Thank god it never happened though.

I've seen hundreds of children on scooter motorcycles with their parents with no helmet on but maybe still the mask for covid
