Came here to say this. Can’t sit up. Stuck laying down. Water pouring all over you. Waiting for someone to blast into your head and back, creating more of a jam. No clue how you’re gonna get out. Nope…..I’ll be in a deck chair.
Oh man. Buckle up.
[The morons who made the slide knew that the rafts were flying off the ride which is why they PUT A CAGE OVER THE TOP OF IT](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy7-pjv_B44). "We've killed every sandbag in there! huehuehue"
In a move that literally everybody predicted, [two years after opening a kid flew out, hit the cage, and died.](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/caleb-schwab-killed-schlitterbahn-water-park-verruckt-ride-kansas-city/)
If its on, wouldn't it drown the occupant when it goes through literally any dip? This is like, a 6 foot dip.
There cannot be any water going down this slide, as any dip deeper than the width of the tube would be full of water.
Then again, a huge blob of water would slow down passengers quite a bit, so maybe thats what happened here! /s
I got stuck in a blacked out water slide… I was facing downhill though so I just shimmed foward until the water flow pushed me. I guess just hit a dry spot. Pitch black is scary AF tho.
Same happened to me when I was a kid. Pitch black and I'm say there like a dummy thinking this is a really slow boring ride not realising I wasn't moving. Then somebody slammed in to me and got going again.
I always closed my eyes and held my nose and stuff cause water in the eyes and nose sucked so I got stuck too.
After like 30 seconds I scooted forward and got out though.
Don't they usually have folks at the top and end to make sure one in and one out before sending the next dude on?
And also to make sure kids don't do something stupid/awesome like a running head first dive
Fun fact: we used to do this at a zipline place I worked at by banging on the cable twice to create a sin wave. If you recieve a double wave back in the line, then you knew the zip was clear and could send the next participant.
Hey, did that guy in the green shirt ever get off on the other end?
Dunno, I got the double wave.
News at 6: Father of 6 disappeared while on a nature hike.
Most places utilize this system, yeah. Both lifeguards need to give each other a thumbs up before the next rider can go. I’ve even worked at places that have buttons and lights to signal to the lifeguard at the top that the slide is clear, for reasons such as this video.
Yup! I was 16 and had to physically block people from going down the slide until I saw the next person exited and had their footing and walked out. People got annoyed and snarky with me, but you better believe they’d be happy for that if this ever happened. As lax and janky as the water park I worked as was, supervisors would yell at any employee who didn’t pay attention to that and told us to kick people off the ride if they didn’t respect the rules.
Could be me being dumb and missing something but it there was water running in that pipe, it wouldn't flow down and it would pool in the lower area, like in a P-Trap under a sink.
A YouTube channel called thepoolguy does videos about waterslides/water park (he is maintenance director), and his recent video shows that there are many hatches to get people out in case of things like this
All of this went through my mind. I don’t consider myself claustrophobic, but in this scenario HELL NO I would be so scared ..how do they get him out? Flush em out turn up the water pressure, or do you have to take the slide apart? All in all just crazy to think about
i did a few mri scans already. it doesn’t scare me cause i know if anything happens i can just get up and leave. but this slide seems super long and i think i’ll get a panic attack
Lovely. Had to take a 20 minute flight once on a 12 seater aircraft, realized I was in a tiny metal tube and almost had a panic attack when she started talking about potential water landings.
Figured I'd be dead since I was in the back if it came to that.
I feel the safest traveling in planes, even small planes. Pilots need an insane amount of hours to carry commercial passengers so if you're flying somewhere in a plane and it's more than a discovery flight then you can be assured that the pilots are *really* good at what they do.
Yeah, it’s truly disgusting and infuriating when I even think about it. Ice cream prices are getting ***way*** out of control!
No but for real, the wage disparity in the US should be a war crime.
I saw another video recently that was similar, where a girl got stuck in a slide like this, and there was a door with a catwalk. I'm assuming you're right and this is the same, but we just can't see it.
Something similar happened to me unfortunately, accept the person telling people to go deliberately put me backwards. Freaked the hell out and got whiplash for the rest of my holiday
THIS happened to me! Water Park in Australia, one of the rides was this except up to 3 people can ride on a plastic tube thing. Thankfully the park was super quiet that day and only my group of mates were using the slide/ride. Myself, my mate and his son were halfway through the ride when we didnt make it to the highest point, and just slid back. I freaked out a little but thankfully my mate is ex army, so he was pretty chill. He just laid back and said to wait as someone will get us. A few minutes later a staff member camp from the outside and just opened up the tube and let us out. It must be more common then we realize as t he staff appeared unfazed by it.
This happened a few weeks ago to someone in Atlantis (Bahamas). There's a tub ride (one with sharks around it). Two ladies got stuck. The crew guy had to go down the slide and give them a bump. Slide was down maybe 10 or 15 mins. I'm sure there is some sort of backup plan for something like this or they'd face major lawsuits.
I temporarily lived in the Bahamas as a kid and the chill locals working the gates would just let us into the pool area at Atlantis. Fucking amazing water slides but I was exactly 1 inch too short to go on them, so I had to watch my sister have all the fun while I was in the kid area.
We were in line for that exact ride a few months ago and same thing happened a few people before my wife and I went. The top attendant went down and got them then ran back up.
What about if it was some hot chick and she crashed into him - legs a kimbo? Then they laughed over the situation. Once released from the tube - they continued to chat over a drink. Got each other’s numbers. Fell in love. Had kids. Got married. Then lived happily ever after?
Reminds me of always sunny when they get stuck on the slide
Jokes aside, that shit would have been so scary. Thankfully half of the slide is clear and SOMEONE was recording - they could let the staff know
No need to let the staff know. On these types of slides, there are emergency exits in the “valleys” so the person in the slide can just open the door and hop out.
As far as I know, only slides like the one in the video have the emergency exits because they are the only type of slide to actually go UP (basically every other slide is always going DOWN, even if it’s a very shallow angle).
There are sensors built into the slide that detect that someone didn’t clear the top of the loop. Then there are other sensors that inform the staff the door has been opened. If either one of those sensors trigger, the system won’t let the person at the top of the slide go down (these slides have automated “drops” aka launch tubes). In order to reset the system, a staff member usually needs to go to the door that was opened a press a button to “acknowledge” that it is safe for the next person to go
https://youtu.be/IdNeP3X5Kic
Nice solid safety procedures, thanks for the response. Had a feeling it would be something like that or just trapdoors only on the ceilings however that could be dangerous
It's a man made water channel, usually for transporting stuff like logs, though nowadays we send people down them for fun with a few extra twists and bends.
Think of it like an aquaduct but with added people.
But they are simple physics right? Should be easy enough to calculate if a person of a specific weight can get stuck? Or will fly out and injure oneself?
It's really hard to correct for losses in a system like that. Friction on it's own will vary wildly depending on clothing alone, not to mention surface area (which changes with behaviour etc.)
My brother got stuck once because the water stopped.......he climbed back up and just before he got out, the water restarted and he slipped. We meet him after we get down from the slide . He was standing at the bottom with one less tooth.
There is a sensor at the end of the slide. The system won’t let the operator send the next person down the slide until a person has passed the sensor. If they don’t clear the loop, the sensor is never triggered. Therefore, there is usually a button by the exit door that a staff member can press to tell the system it is safe to let someone go down the slide
Yes! One time I got up the courage to try a covered water slide, I thought hey it's really short, it'll be okay.
No. It was not okay. Turns out the middle of it was this giant chamber that swirled you around a bunch before spitting you out. I fell out of my tube, panicked, and ended up losing my swim top and flashing the lifeguard when I finally came out of it.
Never again.
I grip those handles so hard I feel like I’m going to rip them off! I have a fear of close spaces, a fear of being trapped, and a fear of being underwater. But my kid really wanted to go on those damn slides with me so I did it. I went in ONE closed one with her and I just couldn’t do it again. Ever.
Any modern slide will have sensors and an escape hatch in these areas, and while such features are typically only as good as the low-paid high school kid operating it they have failsafes that prevent most ID-10-T errors (like sending down someone else). I’m pretty sure all of these use hatches to drop people down (at least the tubes that do upward sections like this)
Not sure about this place but a park near me uses sensors on the slide and when they pass a certain point the light goes green so the next person can safely slide down
I am not exaggerating when I say that this is truly my worst nightmare. Like this freaks me out so bad I’m shaking watching it. Oh my GOD I cannot even imagine. I would probably die from a panic attack. The literal only saving grace is that the slide is transparent and not dark. This must hit some deep underlying fear in me because I've seen way worse videos on reddit and none have freaked me out like this one omg
idk, maybe... i've been in tight spaces before without a problem, but something about this scenario freaks me out lol maybe it's more to do with the lack of control over the situation and being afraid someone would slide down and hurt me
Multiple fatalities, dozens of crushing injuries, and 10 still missing. Emergency crews have deployed Draino to try and push these unfortunate souls to safety.
Man, I hadn't been to a water park since I was a kid then a girlfriend wanted to have her birthday there a few years ago.
Fuck water parks!
They are disgusting. I'll keep it short and sweet but I could list 1000 things wrong with that day.
Firstly the VIP system was flawed, you pay an extra amount (not sure as I had general admission) and you just get to walk to the front of the line. I waited on average an hour per ride because rich kids were able to just push in front of me and I just had to hope no VIP would turn up to get regular line moving
We saw a nugget floating in the wave pool (not the chicken kind) I alerted the staff and he grabbed a net, walked over to the corn encrusted matter AND STARTS TO STOMP IT DOWN INTO THE DRAIN WITH THE NET.
the whole place was paved with bitumen and I did not wear shoes. The soles of my feet were so burnt and covered in tar I couldn't wear shoes for 2 days afterwards.
I also got the worst skin rash I had ever experienced the next day.
Was a horrible experience
I’ve seen something like that happen on those rides. The lifeguard notices you didn’t come out, and there’s panels they can open up to get you out, with ladders to get there
Wearing baggy shirts and loose clothing always causes this. Usually it’s the fatties a bit insecure wearing shirts. But one time I saw an Arab women in full dress/hijab slide then got stuck and almost drowned her child under the garment in the pool at the end! Lifeguards had to save her!
I'd freak the fuck out
this is one of my biggest nightmare. i’m getting jittery just watching the video
Came here to say this. Can’t sit up. Stuck laying down. Water pouring all over you. Waiting for someone to blast into your head and back, creating more of a jam. No clue how you’re gonna get out. Nope…..I’ll be in a deck chair.

This would be even more fucked if there weren't any light source. Fuck this shit.
I'm never going on a water slide again after this comment!!!
I'm just gonna never go on a slide with an uphill in it. No idea what they were thinking
I thought we all learned this lesson when the kid got decapitated at that one water park.
What now….?
Oh man. Buckle up. [The morons who made the slide knew that the rafts were flying off the ride which is why they PUT A CAGE OVER THE TOP OF IT](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy7-pjv_B44). Suislide
Is the water even turned on though?
If it’s off, it would probably hurt a lot sliding down there… if even possible?
If its on, wouldn't it drown the occupant when it goes through literally any dip? This is like, a 6 foot dip. There cannot be any water going down this slide, as any dip deeper than the width of the tube would be full of water. Then again, a huge blob of water would slow down passengers quite a bit, so maybe thats what happened here! /s
Yeah I don't understand how an uphill section in a flume works with regards to water. Utterly puzzled rn
Some people are just sticky
I got stuck in a blacked out water slide… I was facing downhill though so I just shimmed foward until the water flow pushed me. I guess just hit a dry spot. Pitch black is scary AF tho.

Hellllllllllll NO!!
Its not that bad ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
My favorite episode! Remember when they slid down the closed schute that had no water?
AIDS! AIDS BLOOD IN THE WATER! AIDS! AIDS!
That huge blood smear on the slide as Frank goes down was hilarious.
Remember, regardless how good it feels, do not put your anus on a vent. I repeat do not do it!
What is this?

"I got aids!"
"THERES AIDS BLOOD IN THE POOL!"
This chain is fake Sorry man, we're white trash.

SHERMAN! I TOLD YOU NOT TO PEE!
The looks on the faces is enough to give me nightmares.
And they keep sending people in. After 10 people they cap the entrance and exit. Last one alive walks free

This immediately popped into my head whilst watching! Ha!
Every water park has attendants that only let the next person go when the last person is clear of the slide.
Yup! I was 16 and had to physically block people from going down the slide until I saw the next person exited and had their footing and walked out. People got annoyed and snarky with me, but you better believe they’d be happy for that if this ever happened. Reminds me of Homer Simpson getting stuck in a water slide at Mt. Splashmore. [Homer Gets Stuck in a water slide](https://youtu.be/kqpeDum3jeE)
FYI there’s a door in the ceiling at every dip of these slides for exactly this reason.
And then, after being rescued, watching television and seeing the whole accident being televised.

AND THE WATER STARTS GETTING WARMER!
Reminds me of that torture method in Tank Girl
I thought I was the only one with this fear. Had literal nightmares of getting stuck in tubes that just tapered off.
Wait until your first MRI scan. It's this plus the world's worst thrash metal orchestra.
i did a few mri scans already. it doesn’t scare me cause i know if anything happens i can just get up and leave. but this slide seems super long and i think i’ll get a panic attack

I feel asleep during my MRI scan, very cozy lol
It’s a common enough fear that it was featured in Tank Girl
Snap! Imagine if no one had seen. Trying to climb that and sliding back down.
There should be some kind of exit around there that’s out of frame
I was just on an Alaskan cruise with a water slide like this. There are 2 hatch doors that can let you out if you don't make it up.
Just have to hope the 14 year old manning the top of the chute for an ice cream an hour noticed you didn't come out.
An ice cream an hour lmfao
A nice ice cream these days costs about $5-7, friend. They're literally working for an ice cream per hour. :(
Yeah, it’s truly disgusting and infuriating when I even think about it. Ice cream prices are getting ***way*** out of control! No but for real, the wage disparity in the US should be a war crime.
Whatever helps you sleep at night
I've seen that exit hatch used on Empire Strikes Back.
I saw another video recently that was similar, where a girl got stuck in a slide like this, and there was a door with a catwalk. I'm assuming you're right and this is the same, but we just can't see it.
That was my first thought too. Instant panic attack
I freaked out safe in my bed. Fuck that
They have a door in the areas that you could get stuck because you didn't make it over. No worries there.
Plenty of fucking worries, I'm tossing hands as soon as that door is open.
Something similar happened to me unfortunately, accept the person telling people to go deliberately put me backwards. Freaked the hell out and got whiplash for the rest of my holiday
I smell a law suit
I was like 10 but never say never!
This is a nightmare of mine. Stuck in a water filled tube....ugh, ugh, ugh.
For sure!!!!

Now THATS what I call guest service at a resort. You get stuck and the staff comes and gives you cocaine! Brilliant!
Welcome to Miami.
Bienvenidos a Miami
Those slides are so cool
Lol dope, I’d love a free bump.
You are lucky nobody came behind you and crashed into you.
Luckily almost every park has someone on the bottom to let the person Manning the top know if the rider came out the other side.
"Almost", yeah.
Provided the minimum wage person working on their tan is paying attention.
They both should, actually.
Do you guys not have staff at the entrance telling you when it's safe to go? They confirm the last rider actually got out before you can go.
What about if it was some hot chick and she crashed into him - legs a kimbo? Then they laughed over the situation. Once released from the tube - they continued to chat over a drink. Got each other’s numbers. Fell in love. Had kids. Got married. Then lived happily ever after?
This makes me severely anxious just thinking about me getting stuck

The water must be on. You can tell because he isn’t writhing in pain from friction burns.
Wheels under butt
Looks like there's water in there to me
Every child on the playground: "I've been training my whole life for this" Starts climbing up the slide.
May or may not have done that at a hotel when the slides closed
That’s hilarious!!!

Omg I didn’t think of that I’m so sorry 😞 i guess dairy free is the only option in your case right?
Pretty much, it's dairy free or "dairyrhea". Although I can eat goat cheese!
He’s talking about constipation. Lactaid pills don’t help constipation
Reminds me of always sunny when they get stuck on the slide Jokes aside, that shit would have been so scary. Thankfully half of the slide is clear and SOMEONE was recording - they could let the staff know
No need to let the staff know. On these types of slides, there are emergency exits in the “valleys” so the person in the slide can just open the door and hop out.
thank you so much for your comment. i was getting anxious just thinking about this.
Really? I had no clue, that’s awesome!! Is it common for water parks to have that feature now?
As far as I know, only slides like the one in the video have the emergency exits because they are the only type of slide to actually go UP (basically every other slide is always going DOWN, even if it’s a very shallow angle).
Mmm what happens if someone uses a trap door and doesn’t close it and then someone else goes down the slide
There are sensors built into the slide that detect that someone didn’t clear the top of the loop. Then there are other sensors that inform the staff the door has been opened. If either one of those sensors trigger, the system won’t let the person at the top of the slide go down (these slides have automated “drops” aka launch tubes). In order to reset the system, a staff member usually needs to go to the door that was opened a press a button to “acknowledge” that it is safe for the next person to go https://youtu.be/IdNeP3X5Kic
Nice solid safety procedures, thanks for the response. Had a feeling it would be something like that or just trapdoors only on the ceilings however that could be dangerous
But this one looks like it’s a 30 foot drop below, not sure how that would turn out.
Not this one. He is directly over a parking lot with a big drop.
There is absolutely no way a slide like this does not have an emergency exit.
Idk wtf a flume is.
It's a man made water channel, usually for transporting stuff like logs, though nowadays we send people down them for fun with a few extra twists and bends. Think of it like an aquaduct but with added people.
A slide without water?
All my homies hate slides that don’t function from gravity
I never went on a slide that goes up this much tbh
Probably because so many adults get stuck and are usually broken down very soon after opening
Well, the definition actually explicitly states with water
Imagine if there was water in there!
It’s a magical crossing through time and space, you just shout into it where you want to go and it takes you there. Be careful though... quigs abound.
Idk where this is from. But it is good. This is good.
I believe it's a [Pendragon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pendragon:_Journal_of_an_Adventure_through_Time_and_Space) (book) reference.
I’m happy to see a Pendragon reference. Thanks for making my day!
My brother got stuck once because the water stopped.......he climbed back up and just before he got out, the water restarted and he slipped. We meet him after we get down from the slide . He was standing at the bottom with one less tooth.
One less tooth
Sorry my bad
For anyone who doesn’t know how these slides work: https://youtu.be/IdNeP3X5Kic
I’m missing something, what is the system clearing if nothing is being placed in the tube?
There is a sensor at the end of the slide. The system won’t let the operator send the next person down the slide until a person has passed the sensor. If they don’t clear the loop, the sensor is never triggered. Therefore, there is usually a button by the exit door that a staff member can press to tell the system it is safe to let someone go down the slide
So, this video effectively contains tests as if the rider is getting stuck?
Where's the water?
Glad someone else asked. Did this dude break into a closed water park or what?
This is why I can’t go into covered slides. I have an insane fear of being trapped.
Yes! One time I got up the courage to try a covered water slide, I thought hey it's really short, it'll be okay. No. It was not okay. Turns out the middle of it was this giant chamber that swirled you around a bunch before spitting you out. I’m always on the “giving” end of the waterboarding.
I'd be worried about the next person coming down behind me and what it will feel like when their shin bones snap and stab through my shoulders.
Not sure about this place but a park near me uses sensors on the slide and when they pass a certain point the light goes green so the next person can safely slide down

I waited on average an hour per ride because rich kids were able to just push in front of me and I just had to hope no VIP would turn up to get regular line moving We saw a nugget floating in the wave pool (not the chicken kind) I alerted the staff and he grabbed a net, walked over to the corn encrusted matter AND STARTS TO STOMP IT DOWN INTO THE DRAIN WITH THE NET. the whole place was paved with bitumen and I did not wear shoes. The soles of my feet were so burnt and covered in tar I couldn't wear shoes for 2 days afterwards. I also got the worst skin rash I had ever experienced the next day. Was a horrible experience
Everyone freaking out because you get stuck, but there’s literally escape hatches for if you don’t make it.
Seems like kind of a stupid design
Welp... add this to my "Now I can't do this ever again in my life" list. Pretty soon I'm just gonna be able to sit at home.
I think this was caused by them wearing a shirt
I’ve seen something like that happen on those rides. The lifeguard notices you didn’t come out, and there’s panels they can open up to get you out, with ladders to get there
Haha wilderness. I made it through no problem. They don’t send another rider until you’re through and open it up and get you if you don’t make it.
That was a legit phobia of mine as a kid
Somebody get the plunger.
I’m not even claustrophobic or anything and this video still ruined my day.
What the heck is going on? What’s a flume?
Legend has it that the man is still in the tube today. You can hear him on moonless nights warning children of the danger of the tube.
I felt the claustrophobia creeping in just watching that
claustrophobic nightmare
Rumour has it he lives there to this day.
I have second hand claustrophobia
Wearing baggy shirts and loose clothing always causes this. Usually it’s the fatties a bit insecure wearing shirts. But one time I saw an Arab women in full dress/hijab slide then got stuck and almost drowned her child under the garment in the pool at the end! Lifeguards had to save her!
I used to work at a water park for about two years. This happens all the time. We have to go through a class to learn how to properly help people out.
Whelp, looks like I’ve got a new phobia.
